He may not be the most entertaining host, much less an entertainer, but with all, we have our strengths and weaknesses; e.g, "you english" isn't the greatest (and assume it is a typo like I make frequently), but his "style" isn't boring, but regardless Carroll/Mooch is informative. Personally, I believe his style and manner of communicating are a result of the methodical way he trained during his entire military life. He is not, nor trying to be an entertainer (unfortunately, the majority of mainstream news reporters are this day). He's no-nonsense, to the point, and not always perfect, but most importantly isn't trying to be perfect or the "star" of the story he is telling. So, likewise, I hope he keeps at it!

Ward is straight down the flight path, just goes through the story clearly and as unbiased as he can be. He’s also a guy who has put it all out there defending the US and it’s allies (props and thanks from Canada). I have stayed in London all my life and suffered several boring jobs. I have always loved aviation, and I remember drawing WW2 aircraft from a very early age. My best memories are raising two lovely daughters, and the only flying I did was a few times in the UK Air Training Corps. I also got to fly in a Spitfire from Biggin Hill Airport last year; taking the controls for about ten minutes. I totally loved the TopGun movies, and I envy your experience as a pilot of similar fast jets. At 68 years old, sadly my only hope of flying is on a console flight simulator. But, I really enjoy hearing your experiences of flying in the U.S. Keep up the good work mate.

Cdr. Ward; Your dedication and hard work for this channel has really paid off, and we are happy for you! It is very cool that your also a good musician, ( especially rock R+B), as you present yourself as a down to earth guy who loves Navy aviation, and not some old and crusty retired Naval officer. Of all the shows you have presented, two come to my mind that were the best. They were about persons, and you presented them outstandingly. 1. Kara Hultgreen's tragic mishap. ( I was on A/D at the time, and was convinced that was the end for female Naval aviators). You presented the facts with clarity and sensitivity. Excellent program and very heavy. 2. Your father's life story as a Marine Corps fighter pilot. Your dad, God bless him, reminded me of my father who was a B-25 co-pilot in the Pacific. They were "cut from the same cloth", and your interview with your dad was so cool, and filled with admiration for him! Both these shows were very personable and wonderfully done. Good luck with pushing the channel to higher limits, and keep pickin' and grinnin' on that guitar. The part about how Keith switches guitars for different songs is well known, I have seen him do it. He would always give credit to Charlie Watts, R.I.P., as he said Charlie made him sound good.

Full Time You Tube - Great Choice. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the lesson on Open E and Open G. Played guitar many years back in a high school/college group and never knew this!

Best Aviation Channel by a Mile, and that`s from a Brit.

Love your channel. I learned to fly helicopters from the Army in 1968 and flew as an Army Aviator and a civilian for 40 years. I am interested in all things concerning the military and aviation. You are at the top of my subscription list.

I absolutely love the fact that you play and learn guitar as well as being an Aviator you have married my two favourite things together and put them in a KZbin channel. I was obsessed with Top Gun and Tom cats as an Australian boy of about the age 10 but by the age 14, I absolutely fell in love with the guitar and music. From what I've noticed on your channel over the time is that you don't mind being corrected on things and generally being a learnard scholar of your crafts. So here goes 😊 - the top of the guitar is actually the treble strings that are closest to the ground not those larger ones that are closer to the sky. So in order of top to bottom the strings are actually E1 B2 G3 D4 A5 E6, this is because the higher pitched strings are considered the top voice in the music as the guitar is an orchestral instrument that originates from folk and later other genres such as classical then jazz, blues, rock n roll music (in this chronological order) it is applicable to use the traditional methods of understanding and naming string instruments that also apply to the lute and the viol family. If you take a look at the song Spanish Romance you will see perhaps a reason why the first string is the treble E. By the way, you got the standard tuning names correct so that's a plus 👍 The tuning for the open E chord you have demonstrated does not sound to my ear as those notes that you said, I am hearing a standard triad over multiple voices in different octaves which is what is standard with a guitar but you named a seventh chord with a double flat third (this is enharmonically named "Esus2") E, D (the b7th) E, Gb (the double flat third which would be better described as "F#" if it were this pitch), B E. What I am hearing is actually from your lowest pitch to highest pitch - E B E G# B E. This is a triad major chord, just like you said "like the E chord". Sorry to have to correct you but I have seen that you like to learn so I figure you would appreciate the feedback. Thank you so much for over the years, I have learnt so much about the jets and navy life I could only dream of as an Australian boy with limited math skills. Thank you so much, keep up the good work. 😎

cheers to chapter 5, Ward. been following you for a while and while I'm not a service person myself, I have always been Navy-adjacent, having been born in San Diego to parents both in the Navy... aviation has always been a core interest so I've just been all over your content for a *while* now. Love what you're doing, can't wait to see where it goes next. Also a huge RB fan and you guys are some of the most entertaining mooks on KZbin. Keep telling great stories, that has been the hallmark of human interaction since we got started. cheers!

Sorry that I missed the live podcast, however I am a big fan of your podcast. I worked on the F 14 A when they first came out at VF 24. Keep it going you were awesome.

Mooch I don't know much about aviation but what I do know, I learned from you. Your delivery is amazing and I appreciate the factual nature of your content. I could listen to you talk about your experiences all day. THANK YOU for all you do!! Never stop.

Hi Ward! Love the channel. I was in VF-32 with you. I remember that at first, and for quite a while, I and and many others thought of you as very snobbish, but I learned over time that you were just super professional. I often wondered what happened to those I knew in the past, so I was happy to see one of your videos pop up into my feed. Glad to know that things went well for you. As we know, that isn't true for some, as you noted with your classmates. By the way, I do have your Punk's Wing, novel. Haven't read it yet. LOL Have a hard time finding time to just relax, and read.

Thanks, Leroy! Good days those! (Sorry I appeared snobbish. Not my intent, shipmate.)

@@WardCarroll No worries, Ward! Like I said, I realized at some point that it was more of a perception problem on our part. I was simply humble enough to admit to myself that it was my/our mistake. Those were good days. A lot of hard work, but I will never regret my time in the Navy. It allowed me to see much of the world, having deployed from both coasts. Good luck in all your future endeavors! I wish you nothing but the best!

Love your shows! I was a RIO in your era just a few years later - Really enjoy the stories of Tomcat technical characteristics and operational situations that include many of the players that made my time in F-14s so successful! Thanks again! Stealth

Whew! I’m one of those who jumped to the erroneous conclusion that you were going to punch out of YT; I’m very relieved to see that that isn’t the case. Thank you for staying here. This is a channel I watch for every episode and I never come away from it without having something valuable in hand. I, for one, appreciate the depth of your research and for offering something in the YT universe that isn’t vacuous sensationalism or cutesy kittens. On another radial: when you speak with Mr. Bronk, would you ask him if he thinks Putin is idiot enough to really use tactical nukes, and if so, what would be NATO’s likely response. Rock on, Commander. Thanks for being here. 🤙🏼

Ward, Your channel is Outstanding! I grew up in Pensacola and have a couple retired Naval Aviators in the extended family. You might consider doing some telecasts and interviews with aviators from the different flying communities in Naval Aviation, Army Aviation and Air Force. I am sure the Helicopter guys have interesting stories about landing on the deck of a destroyer in heavy seas or the Patrol guys with encounters with foreign hostel intercepts. All facets of Military Aviation have challenges. Both of our sons are West Point Grads. The oldest flew scout helicopters at tree top level at night with night vision devices. It is all a challenge but the figter guys like you really get my interest. One other suggestion (like you need one), it would be interesting to hear from the guys that flew missions from Yankee Station during Vietnam. They are all getting older and will fly West in the not too distant future. They need their stories told. Thank you for your service and this channel.

“I would never do clickbait” - except for this one. You nearly lost me. You’re lucky I was only folding the washing, so I stuck it out 😂. Seriously though, you play Gimme Shelter well.

Enjoyed your episodes. Not a Naval Aviator! Just a Nam retired Jarhead and father of a retired Naval Aviator Cmdr Marc 'Oral' Stirton.

I was in USCG aviation. I once debated with a former USMC pilot who talked about Coast Guard aircrews being idiots. He was referring to a midair that happened over the Pacific Ocean between a USCG HC-130 and two Marine Helo's. I seem to remember a cause contributing to the incident was the Beaver Controller was drunk and mismanaged air traffic. Do you remember the incident? If so perhaps you could do an expose on that?

I love your channel. I’ve learned a lot and allows me to carry on semi-coherent conversations with a friend who is an ex Navy pilot.
