I love it when movies have siblings who end up getting along in the end! I can relate to that, As a younger sibling my older brother hated me throughout his middle school and the first year of high school- but this was because his school environment sucked and he took out his stress on me (by accident) but when he switched to a better school and started maturing, he’s become one of the best brothers anyone could have Basically what I’m getting at is: Sometimes you/they just gotta get older and hopefully in a better place, and if all goes well the years of arguing and bickering will be healed relatively quickly! Also compromise, try to find a different outlet for stress then your younger sibling, and don’t lose/break your older siblings stuff....
@sawanna508 Жыл бұрын
My brother is only two years younger then me and with him it's actually the other way around. We were close as kids and we had a great time playing together (of course we had conflict too, also while playing)but today that we are adults we are very distant (not that we hate each other) and that connection we had is gone.
@yourfriendlyeverydayhealer93063 жыл бұрын
7:11 Ok I need to talk about the whole master breaker concept. From the movie, we see that when Emmet did his first master break, everyone was stunned into silence and it’s not just because sweet and kind Emmet did something mature but rather what Emmet did. Benny has done something similar in the first movie whenever he can’t build his spaceships but he’s not a Master Breaker like Rex. When Benny destroys his builds, it’s always incomplete and thus can be easily taken apart but when Rex does it, he’s destroying completed builds. In all the build scenes throughout both movies, Master Builders would build with whatever they can find and although they do destroy things, they reuse those blocks they took to create something new. No block gets discarded and a new build is created thanks to the Master Builder’s creativity. In destruction scenes like Cloud Cuckoo Land, the the place is being destroyed by Lord Business’s spaceships so it would be normal for them to break in the world of Lego and also in the context of story. And when Wildstyle broke the armour when sneaking in, well it was armour so it could work differently and once again, it’s in the context of the story (not very sure on this so take it with a grain of salt). Master Breakers on the other hand are purely destructive and can be caused by a single person. They’re the other side of the building spectrum that represents anger, dissatisfaction with the builds and frustration and when mastered well, you don’t even have to be angry to do it, all it takes is one tap for a build to fall apart. In the real world, this is just destroying a build but put it in the context of the world of Lego and there’s a different side to the story. Imagine being a Master Builder and seeing Emmet, the nice man who wouldn’t hurt anyone but needs to grow up, the special one, did his master break, a new move you have never seen before in your entire life. You take things apart yes but you always rebuild them again and store leftover bricks for later builds, yet this new power you saw before you is terrifyingly destructive. You imagine what would happen if you upset Emmet, would he destroy your builds too? All those builds you work so hard on, that you pour your life and soul into, all of it can be reduced to bricks in a matter of seconds with one punch. That’s worse than not being offered the freedom to build, it can be heartbreaking to see all your creations go to waste. Yeah you can rebuild but it might happen again, and again until eventually you give up and you no longer have fun in building. You can’t handle it being destroyed again. And Emmet has that power, who’s to say anyone else can’t do it too? What will happen to your and everyone else’s builds? That’s how scary being a master breaker is to a master builder. It has its use yes but at the same time, it can be used for evil just like when Emmet destroyed the cake.
@meatball76692 жыл бұрын
Huh. Never thought of it that way.

The "it's the second movie, now he needs to learn breaking things as well as building them" made perfect sense, until later i realized, with the reveal, wait, he didn't really need to break anything, didn't he? I was just tricked but standard arcs.

that part of when you said it continuously gets destroyed to the point when you have no fun in building alludes to the beginning of this movie when they said that when they kept rebuilding they kept coming back to destroy, which would make alot of sense as to why everything was so gloom

The one thing I really loved was how straight it played everything, how it almost seemed to rely on audience expectations to tell its story and make its point. The whole "Gang assumes the sister's characters are evil, because they must be, because they're openly denying that they are, and there must be conflict and bad guys, because movies." is also totally in line with my (and probably many others') thinking; that they were making a joke using an obviously evil person who didn't realize that their incredibly over-the-top, trope-acknowledging denial just made their evil that much more obvious. But it's actually the truth, and of course it is in the larger context. There's never any malice in what Bianca's doing; she just wants to play with her older brother.
@alphaareus2 жыл бұрын
This movie has probably one of the saddest villain stories in any animated film. The beloved protagonist, left to rot for years in a dark and isolated area, with nothing but his negative thoughts, watching as the people he loved so dearly be celebrating, unawares of his desperate cries for help. He goes completely mad from a combination of feelings of betrayal and the scathing words from the people who he was once willing to die for. Then, in the end, he doesn't get a chance of redemption. He's the only Lego Movie villain to not survive, frankly, the one who deserved to live the most out of all of them.

The LEGO Movies would probably be a cosmic horror story in a wildly different context. If one lived in a dystopian society, fought to prevent the government from unleashing a chemical on its unsuspecting and supportive citizens, and realized their entire reality was dictated by gods playing with toys-and that not only are they just another plaything in the hands of a child deity, but that the government’s powerful artifacts from that dimension are mundane to these all-powerful beings-it would be a frigid revelation.

My favorite thing about this movie is how many plot reveals/twists/surprises there are. (Emmet’s visions of the future, who Rex really is, the Queen’s original form, etc.) They even tie up some loose ends from the first movie. Like Lucy’s back story, for example.

The fact that his mission was simply to save himself from being hurt shows to me that he never stopped being Emmett deep down. He could never stop caring. The point where he crossed a line was when he threw himself under the dryer, but again he thought it was for the best.

Something I'd like to point out is that LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is that it was released about 5 years after the first, making the canon timeline very similar to the real-world one, and that the timing with the ages of the potential main audiences was well-designed, considering that many children likely watched the first and were likely maturing pre-teens- or even teenagers- by the second, making the movie's themes likely even more relevant.

This movie made me cry so much because it was JUST like how I wanted to play with my brother and his LEGOs. Except instead I mixed in stuffed animals and Pokemon figurines. This movie really brought out all the old nostalgia feelings that I had playing with my brother. Anyway, thanks for giving this movie the good review it deserves!
@sawanna508 Жыл бұрын
My brothers and I did that both we mixed all kinds of toys with each other. Our favourites were dinosaurs (and for little brother farm animals) but we mixed them with Lego and Playmobile, sometimes with, cars, Prio Trains and stuffed animals. And on rare occations we even added our Model Trains to the mix. It was grate fun. But we had conflicts too. One of my brothers is two years younger then me and was alway the better builder then me (one time we ran out of pieces because we both wanted to build special houses despite having a whole lot of them) and each of us had one charackter we wanted to be the guy who was the leader of everyone.

What is my opinion on the LEGO movie? It’s a very unique movie that overall has a positive impact on children who watch it. The creativity put into the production of this masterpiece is not easily comprehended, yet its subliminal messages stick with viewers and create a sense of self-worth and importance. The song “Everything Is Awesome”, while it may seem like a meaningless mantra, helps viewers understand the deep messages the movie provides. Emmet’s hilarious personality is a perfect representation of a cliché main character, which in itself, is a portrayal of how perfect the LEGO society is, but at the same time, how variety is necessary for a real society to succeed. Overall, the LEGO movie is a brilliant parable of society and power that can be interpreted as a prediction of the future or possibly a warning to children growing up to be good leaders and be wary of obsession and control.

This was the surprise film so far of 2019 for me. Took my daughter to it as part of a promised double feature on her birthday and both of us came back saying it was better than the first (if not as groundbreaking because they had already done it twice by now). And it wears well. We watched it at the end of a stressful week as a family (all my kids are now teens as of my youngest birthday) and we all loved it. And the message is very much right on, including correcting the lie that everything is always awesome. And between "I'm Queen" and "This Song is Gonna Get Stuck Inside Your Head" two of the best written for a movie songs in recent memory.

Can we talk about just how genius Watevra WaNabi is as a character?? They set her up to be a funny obvious “twist” villain, but they pull another 180 on us, and reveal she was being completely honest. Also, her relationship with Batman sets up the themes in the Lego Batman Movie (if it’s canon). Also, the whole idea of the brother giving his sister the piece and that becoming the center of her world is so wholesome. And her animation is so amazing, creative and smooth. There was truly never a dull moment with her. Also I have her “villain” song forever replaying in my head because it’s a BOP!
