In regards to the line about Zeus's accent: me and my gf are both Greek and when we heard this accent in the theaters we half expected him to start cussing Thor out in Greek. By far the best Greek accent from a non-Greek actor.

One thing I definitely loved about Bale's performance is how quickly it was apparent that the Necrosword altered his mind. When he grasped the sword, his demeanor instantly changed from "shell-shocked, grieving father" to "calm, bloodthirsty killer." And when the sword was destroyed he switched back almost instantly as well. I just really wish we had seen more of him actually killing gods.

Some things I learned about this movie: -Most of the Asgardian children belong to the cast and crew, Taika's kids, Bale's kids, Hemsworth's kids, Portman's kids, which I think is fun and adorable -Russell Crowe convinced Taika to let him use the Greek accent after doing the same take twice one with and one without -Korg's partner is Dwayne, The Rock alien, Dwayne, it's a very funny joke and I didn't see it mentioned by many people -Natalie Portman said she loved getting buff for this role and it was one of the more fun roles she's had in awhile

So much of how good Jane is in the movie is actually due to Natalie Portman fighting to keep the character consistent with the first two movies. During the writing process, Taika offered to revamp the character the way Thor was revamped for Ragnarok, but Natalie stuck to her (very impressive) guns because she knew that Jane was fine just the way she was, and really only needed the chance to show it. Badass Good Girl, Natalie Portman is always a win.

The depiction of someone battling cancer is eerily spot on for what I was expecting to be an over-comedic, action flick. Jane often looked so much like my own mother did during her battle. And with that there were definitely days when my mom was doing so well she almost seemed above her normal health, almost heroic, but after each of those days the next would be even worse. I was not prepared to find so many strong emotions tied into this movie. I applaud it and am patiently waiting to have the courage to watch it again.

Your explanation of how Thor-ing up was killing Jane (removing the chemo "poison" without actually doing anything about the cancer) is basically straight-up how it was in the comics, so it fits. Meanwhile, I agree that Bale did a fantastic job as Gorr, but I'm kind of glad that he _is_ a one-and-done villain, because IMO in the comics he _vastly_ overstayed his welcome to the point that he stopped being "ooh scary threatening villain whose philosophy challenges the validity of Thor and his fellow deities" and became "oh ffs just stfu and go away already."

The golden blood isn’t just about getting around censors; in Greek myth, the gods’ immortality came from them not having blood but Ichor, which is often interpreted as being gold in color. (There was also a thing about Ambrosia, but that’s not relevant here.) This also helps explain who Zeus survives. I appreciated the nod to historical myth when I saw it.
@vgmaster02
@vgmaster02 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Ambrosia is the food of the gods, Nectar is the drink of the gods, and Ichor is the blood of the gods. You can presume that the food they were eating and the drinks they were drinking is the Ambrosia and Nectar, but it was definitely them showing the gods have Ichor flowing through them, which yes, I love that they kept that nod to the mythology.

2:26 That whole sequence is still Korg telling people "how it happened." Always been a fan of the Thor movies, and don't get why this one received so little love. Sure, it isn't perfect and pretty much all over the place, but the stuff that works really works. Thor and Jane's relationship was the best part (usually when you separate a couple only to have them back together it falls flat) and the message about "better to love and loose than to never to have loved at all" (or as HTTYD3 said "with love comes loss, that's part of the deal") is truly the heart of it all. Also, Gorr´s story was great as well, proves Marvel does do villains great.

It was so great to have Natalie Portman as Jane Foster back in the franchise; didn't realize *just* how much I'd missed her in Ragnarök until her sudden first appearance in Love & Thunder. I appreciate Taika taking the time in L&T to establish a backstory as to why they'd supposedly "broken up" back then, and every scene where Thor & Jane fight side by side as a bad-ass power couple was such a treat! Plus, Chris & Natalie's chemistry remained strong as ever; I could feel *their* reunion just as much as I felt Thor & Jane's. 🥰⚒ (Also, on a personal note, I would've included a win for seeing Valkyrie wear a Phantom of the Opera shirt in the film. Even Asgardian warrior women can develop great taste in musicals 😊😉). Speaking of Natalie, we need an Everything Great about V for Vendetta someday, maybe for this year's November the 5th? 🌹⚔🤔😏

I don't think we'll see any more Mighty Thor, but I DO think that sending her to Valhalla sets Jane up perfectly to come back as (a) Valkyrie, since that's what happened in the comics. Sacrificed herself as Mighty Thor, went to Valhalla, came back. so... yeah. Edit: Also, that theory is more or less exactly what was explained in the comics. When Mjolnir transformed her into Mighty Thor, it was also burning all the "poison" out of Jane's veins.

You know what also happened in the comics? Gorrr wasn't a kiddie snatcher, but a formidable foe who fought Thor across three timelines and his ultimate plan was to build a bomb that would kill all gods and three versions of Thor, three serious and totally badass version of Thor, had to team up to stop him. Oh, and he was never "redeemed" in the comic. It's the focal point of the story that Gorr is a bad person and doesn't deserve redemption. So I say we don't use comics, because MCU Thor movies have nothing in common with them after the first movie.

I loved the movie and rewatched it over and over. My only problem with it was that it wasn’t long enough and needed more. More locations, more Gorr, more Necro Sword backstory. We didn’t see Gorr find and butcher the gods. And whenever he was on screen, every shot change was inconsistent so you could tell that a lot was edited out. Which Marvel and Taika confirmed since they felt that a lot of Gorr’s scenes were too scary or rated-R. So that was a bummer and it hurt the film, but I loved everything else about the movie. @@empatheticrambo4890 I hope we see more of it as well. I think some growth toward a more Odinesque bearing would befit the character's grand arc. I like the character's dynamic of being flippant and apparently aloof but revealing greater emotional depth (see his convos with Rocket). Personally, I think he uses intentional buffonery as both cover and to entertain those around him. Like he's sharing his own coping mechanism. I think it's a subtle brilliance of Hemsworth's performance, along with the writing (which I'm sure, at this point, he gets a say in). See 14:55 where his _apparent_ ignorance of an Earth idiom ("break a leg") is displayed in his follow-up line ("I'll break all his legs"). Jane's chuckle suggests she knows he's playing dumb just to make her laugh. That's my take on the exchange, anyway. Alas, I digress.

Ahhh Thor Love and Thunder: the most under appreciated recent installment in the MCU. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t my favorite either, there were a lot of things that could have been better, and debatably *should* have been better. After thinking about it though, I think this film executes what it was meant to in the best possible way. The biggest thing that changed my mind on my thoughts on this movie was the fact that Korg narrates the movie. Once I remembered this, I became more appreciative of THOR:L&T. Of course it’s going to be weird, and of course it’s going to have HUGE narrative loopholes, and of course it’s not going to be serious. That’s Korg, and Korg narrates the film. Personally, I think of this film as a “based on a true story” MCU film. This isn’t what actually happened, this is a retelling of the events that takes a lot of artistic liberty.

I have to say this is one of my favorite MCU movies, and it absolutely hit all the marks for me. I know it wasn't the most serious or integral to the MCU, but the jokes were funny, the soundtrack hit, the emotional moments landed, and the actors really killed it. I think a lot of people only go into Marvel movies to analyze every scene. By those standards, it's not the best movie. This movie is also not as brutal as the others, and can be inspiring to kids, which I loved. It still pulled the heartstrings. I also loved that, for me, it redeemed a character who I thought of as mundane and boring. It really made Jane's character amazing. Also, the majority of the kids in this film are the actors' kids, which is adorable and heartwarming. I also liked Ragnorak, so I am definitely preferential to the light-hearted action and humor that we don't usually see in MCU movies. But this movie just killed it.

One thing I walked away with from this movie is that despite it having the makings of a romantic comedy, it avoids the most common (and annoying) narrative device of that genre: bad communication. While Thor doesn't always immediately say what's on his mind, when he does he doesn't hold back, doesn't beat around the bush, and makes himself understood. I think part of the reason is that the movie had a lot of other things to do and so didn't have the time to deal with that sort of nonsense, but it also reads to me as how much Thor has matured by this point in his story.

Love this movie because it actually progresses Thor's Character Arc. In Endgame/Infinity War he refused to let people go, thinking that "fate is on his side" as if he could stop death itself and when he couldn't it broke him. That's what we saw in Endgame, a man who couldn't move on and now in this film he has one thing, just one thing back that he lost and he finds out the woman he loves is dying of cancer. As you said he let's her chose how she wants to spend her final moments and in doing so loses another person he loves but this time he has a choice in the matter and grows by letting it happen and not looking away when she dies. Yeah this movie is goofy and surly not everything works but in no way would I call this film bad.

Part of it is the expectations and the fact phase 4 of MCU hasn't been groundbreaking. People have been told they would get new stories, and given how good the Infinity Saga was expected quality of that caliber, but apart from Spiderman: No Way Home nothing really came close to it. And with Thor: Love & Thunder, that is not different. The movie is decent imo but it is not the new Infinity War, and patience is running thinner with every bad, mediocre or 'merely decent' films. To top it off it is guilty of trends in Hollywood that alienate part of the audience. Not everyone will like it if Valkyrie outperforms the poster boy, even if there are technically rules that allow that, and to be fair, Thor never really gets his comeuppance, and neither did he against Hela. That is not to say this movie is a flop and has no redeeming qualities. The message on cancer is welcome, the villain is written smartly and there are a bunch of good jokes in there, even if they start to go stale after all the comedies in the MCU (as opposed to She-Hulk, which for a supposed slice-of-life comedy has very little humor afaics). It has problems, but nothing that writes it off completely. It is however indicative of how MCU Phase 4 is a serious step down in quality from the Infinity Saga, and I for one am not looking forward to Phase 5 anymore.

I saw this on my birthday this year, the first movie I saw in theatres since 2019. It was such an amazing experience, I nearly wept several times. The second I got home I had to hold my kids and tell them how much I loved them. Also best performance by Christian Bale in a comic-book movie don't @ me

100% lots of the people who hate this film and MCU products after this such as She Hulk appear to be influenced by reactionary KZbinrs who criticise everything by using buzz words like ‘woke’ not just because it’s part of their negative channel brand but because they hate diversity in media period. Nerdrotic for example is one of the worse and he doesn’t even try to hide the bigotry when he tries. Makes me wish She Hulk in its second season when mocking misogynistic online trolls, they’d use actual footage or at least screenshots of his content to properly expose the true nature of people like them. Honestly, She Hulk taking the piss out of internet trolls was absolutely based.

Bonus win: at 15:30 ish, when Thor powers up all the children, the lightning takes the form of Yggdrasill. A sacred Norse tree that after Ragnarok (which this movie is too) will be the source of new life. Draw parallels of children being new life. (If I missed anything or someone knows more please feel free chime in. Either way I thought this was a cool image watching the movie. )

Haha. After watching Cinema Therapy do an absolutely amazing job explaining some of the therapeutic things coming from the MCU (movies in general), I realize this movie is fantastic! Also, I’m glad there is a “Cinema Wins” and not just a “Cinema Sins.” Looking for positivity is always better than the things that were done “wrong.” Especially when it’s all opinion anyway. Thank you for another wonderful video and giving me another reason (already watching the Disney+ Marvel timeline) to return to this movie after watching only a couple weeks ago.

I collected Groo the Wander comics when I was in Middle school and High school. He was such a fun character that I've used his name in every video game I've played for the past 30+ years. Also Chris said in an interview that we was so bored during the lockdowns that he spent his time in his gym and as a result he's even more ripped now as a result than he was in the other movies, so they had to show it off in this movie.

Personally, I liked this movie when it came out, in spite of any/all criticisms people had about it. Don't get me wrong, there are certain elements that didn't work, jokes that didn't land, and at 1hr 40 mins - if they wanted to squeeze in more stuff, then fine by me. Asking for the 4th Thor movie to surpass the unexpected hit that was Ragnarok is no easy task, and for the story that they wanted to tell, I think they did okay. Granted Ragnarok will forever be my favourite Thor movie, but I appreciate their efforts. I liked the visuals, I LOVED the cast, and hadn't expected the story to end with Thor as an adoptive father, but it's a sweet note to end on. Remember - if you like something that lots of other people seem to be hating on, then Congrats! You found something to like where they didn't.

"Come on guys..let's lighten up..Thor's going through some stuff'' THIS LINE IS EXACTLY WHAT I FEEL TOWARDS THIS WHOLE MOVIE! I mean What If season 1 episode 7(What if Thor was an only child?) is proof that Thor is so jolly and humorous when he doesn't have Loki as a brother..although that version of him is a bit more happier..and not bottled up by grief

Honestly, apart from the fact that Love & Thunder had to follow after No Way Home, this was the best MCU film to be released this year. (No Way Home was released on 2021 bite me) I’m sorry. I know that’s a hot take but Taika Waititi’s direction for Love & Thunder works. Of course it’s not gonna be loved by the avid fan bc it doesn’t really follow the MCU formula. It has Taika Waititi’s signature all over it without taking away the heart of Thor, and me and a couple of film enthusiasts, makers, and buddies are nothing but impressed. We didn’t care that we didn’t laugh at some of the jokes. We like to think it’s by design since Thor spent a lot of time with human beings, i.e literally the Avengers who are known to make corny and on the nose jokes to hide the fact that they are sad. It makes sense that he picks up that coping mechanism and continues it with Peter freaking Quill; another human being with the-people-I-love-keep-dying syndrome, right after the events of Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Endgame which were BACK TO BACK in his time. So yeah, all of it makes sense. Plus, it’s the one of the few MCU films in phase 4 that has banger shots perfectly paired with good choices of music.

So I'm not sure if they're in the comics, and the crazy goats might seem random, but in Norse mythology, Thor's chariot is pulled by two goats so it makes sense they'd pull the ship along the Bifrost. Also this is my favorite Thor movie by far. I don't know why it got such mixed reviews. Great video!

It doesn't make sense. And no one cares what's in mythology; they're not adapting mythology. They're adapting Marvel Comics, which is already accurate to mythology. But they suck at that, too.

I think not going to see this in theaters was the right play for me personally. I only saw the headlines and video titles due to my general avoidance of spoilers, so I was able to go in with an attitude of "this should be fun but don't expect another Ragnarök. you know the artist were put on crunch and that the marvel brand washed it down a bit but you and mom love this stuff anyway so lets have fun" and thats the perfect way to watch. honestly, after going back and watchin some content dissing it i cant say i disagree with any of the actual complaints people have with this movie but its still a fun romp id happily add to any marvel binge. i still let the complaints get to me though so its always up to this channel though to make me see the light again. great video :)

Wasnt a fan of this movie, but I always love your videos for providing a positive outlook on movies I didnt like or appreciate. I thought the movie made light of an amazing opportunity for some real work towards mental health and struggling with loss and failure. I thought they could have made a really emotional storyline around those concepts but chose to make the entire movie comic relief. Though I still stand by those thoughts, I love watching your videos for providing another look on movies. They always tend to get me to either love movies I enjoyed more, or at the very least appreciate movies I didnt. Its always a great reminder that everyone has their perspectives and its worth hearing them out. At the end of the day, if you dont agree, that should be totally fine and people should be accepted for that. Live and let live.

You know what... I honestly loved this movie. I totally get why someone wouldn't like it, but honestly as soon as Korg went into "dramatized backstory mode" I kinda never left that, so the goofy nature of the movie really worked for me. It takes a layer of suspension of disbelief though that's a bit beyonnd the scope of other Marvel projects, so I get why so many people felt it was out of place, I just personally really enjoyed it. It was a clever way of telling a different kind of story without breaking the entire universe. Which so far has felt like the theme of phase 4
