3:23 I thought the reason they weren't getting rained on is because Thor controls the weather and then when Jane moves, Thor moves the anti-rain with her. That's why they look around and notice Thor in the first place??? If it is actually because the aether was protecting her/itself, I'll be really disappointed

I think it speaks to the quality of Hemsworth and Hiddleston's casting and acting that when I was reading actual tales of Norse mythology not too long ago, I could see every one of the things Thor and Loki say and do as being said and done by them.

I also really like this movies. It’s got awesome combat scenes and the architecture around Asgard, vanaheim and Svartlefheim is intricate and wonderful. Also malekith is a cool villain. He’s not supposed to be strong and is only credited as being the most ruthless of the dark elves. He’s more of a leader and a tactician than a fighter as you can see in his fight against Frigga. His main goal is to get the aether so he can achieve power without becoming Kursed which he thinks he’s above. The dark elves just appear really interesting to me especially in their military style and how they fight. All their weapons have a sinister tone to them and they prefer to use blasters rather than melee and when they use melee attacks through the kursed it’s seen as a sacrifice rather than an honor. Also you have to ask yourself if the dark elves actually designed their ships specifically for invading Asgard from how they easily maneuver and cut through their defenses and buildings

I agree at 10:53 but I also think the reason Hawkeye might not have had as many lasting side effects as Selvig is: 1- we really didn't get to see much of Hawkeye between Avengers 1 and 2 so he might have had more side effects, but also 2- Selvig probably had more shit being pumped into his brain. Selvig was the "brains" of the operation, he was the science guy and Loki was feeding all kinds of information into his brain in order to make the device he needed to open the wormhole. Selvig is smart, but when you pump information into someone, information that we haven't gotten to ourselves yet, it would be hard for a brain to cope or handle all of that. I'm sure there would even be some that he didn't even fully grasp and that would be hard, having information coursing through your brain that you can't even fully comprehend. For someone as smart as Selvig that alone could drive him nuts, the frustration of not being able to understand what he knows. Hawkeye didn't have information crammed into his head, he was more of a puppet being used as the "brawn" of the team to get what Loki needed. But more importantly 3- Hawkeye is a SHIELD agent, a clandestine government agency agent, Clint probably went through rigorous training to help him compartmentalize and to handle something at least similar to what happened to him, and after probably had the best psychologists on staff available to help him through the after math. While he'd still have side effects, it would be minimized by these things. Selvig of course would have been given the same treatment afterwards, as SHIELD would have probably set him up with the same psychologists but he didn't have the previous training before hand. And going back to number 2, he also has so much information in his head now, information that he himself is having a hard time handling and understanding, that's not going to be something that psychologists are going to be able to help with easily. Anyway, just had to point these out...

Honestly, this channel is such a blessing. More people need to look at "less than brilliant" movies this way. Hating on stuff gets tiresome pretty quickly. The Dark World really had some really nice moments and learning to appreciate its good side feels so much better, because it really has quite a bunch of nice stuff, it's not like it's heartless.

Really well said and couldn't agree more. I really don't like that people often come to reviews of films like this just to comment "the film sucked" even tho this type of video is typically aimed at fans. Fairly generic story. No real character progression nor tie ins with rest of marvel. Malekith was a bit of a wuss too.
@magnusprime9625 жыл бұрын
It didn’t seem particularly consequential for a long time, the plot is pretty standard, and Malekith is a boring villain and a waste of Christopher Eccleston’s talents. That’s what people I’ve chatted with have said anyways. Personally, I think it’s a fun adventure romp with a few flaws that keep it from truly being remarkable. I’ll never call it a favorite movie of mine, but it’s a fun ride.

Creed Luvari They don't realize the Dark Elf villain is not really the main villain. Loki is the main villain. He took advantages of the events to deceive everyone. Then he fakes his death and pretends to be Odin. My main flaw with the movie is Darcy is annoying. She got more screen time in this movie. The Warriors Three and Sif were barely in thus movie. I agree the Dark Elf villain is weak but I didn't mind it because Loki is a better villain. Some of the comedy does't work like seeing Skellan nude. I still like the movie though.
@johndamenillusionist43427 жыл бұрын
This movie was better than Ragnarok to me, but its hard to compare the two...one is a superhero movie with emotional depth and a well structured story...and one (Ragnarok) is a straight comedy that eliminates everything that made this movie good and instead tries to emulate GOTG.
@borjankosarac36457 жыл бұрын
Firstly, General Zod's motives (if we're talking "Man of Steel" and not "Superman II") ARE explained - he was genetically engineered to be the perfect soldier, and Krypton is everything to him, so he'll go to any length to restore it. Secondly, part of the consequence of integrating Loki into the film (because of his post-"Avengers" popularity), were reportedly that some scenes giving Malekith more depth were cut; there was actually some backstory involving the loss of his family, which might have been what was driving him to return the world to darkness... But even then, I don't mind Malekith being one-dimensional evil if it was done WELL - and unfortunately, in the movie he's given little to stand out; comparatively, in the comics Malekith was SCARY EVIL, a despotic monster who the dark elves lived in fear of and one of Thor's most despicable foes. Further, in the comics his right-hand man Algrim/Kurse - who was basically just undying loyal to his cause in "The Dark World" - was the one who finally killed him after Malekith proved to Algrim that he had zero honour; Algrim in the comics, being a noble-hearted soul, would become a staunch ally to Asgard henceforth. So, no... it's not the fact of it that is the problem; it's the execution, IMHO.

A couple missed wins: In the scene where Frigga visits Loki via hologram: everything that happens in that scene is worth a win, but ESPECIALLY that moment where he denies Odin as his father (genuinely, I think he actually hates Odin or at least dislikes him) but then Frigga asks 'Then am I not your mother?' and you can see the pain on his face. Probably only to keep up his 'imma bad guy' persona, he says she isn't, but you can see that he doesn't mean it and it just makes me wanna cry every time. Then Frigga's line right after (always so perceptive about everyone but yourself) cuts right to the heart. Frigga gets +20 wins for being the most beautifully maternal figure in any movie. When Thor goes to Loki's cell, the first (I think) thing he says after letting down his guard (quite literally with the illusion) is to ask if his mother suffered. That's a few wins right there. You pointed out both the 'don't you dare betray him' moments from Sif and Volstagg, but Loki's responses to each of those are worth a win, especially the last one: "You'll kill me? Evidently, there will be a line." "Loki, are you mad?" "Possibly." You did kinda lightly brush over the fact that Tom Hiddleston killed it as usual. But since it was confirmed that he was under the mind stone's influence, I've rewatched all the movies he was in with that new perspective. He really is a tragic character and I'm a sucker for a good tragic character. But he's also hilarious and almost every single line out of his mouth is a win.
@kaelacatabui44024 жыл бұрын
Oh And... just realized that the score for Loki's 'death' scene is the same melody as Frigga's funeral, just a couple octaves down and on deeper instruments that's cool
@aramis53014 жыл бұрын
The thing with Loki in The Dark World is that pretty much every moment he is onscreen deserves a win. I think my personal favourite moment is when Thor visits him and he puts up an illusion to hide his true emotional state, but then Thor sees through it and makes it show himself as he really is. And he is a complete wreck. I thought that was really powerful and well done. It's the first (and only?) time when Loki allows Thor to see his vulnerability, that was just beautiful.

I just rewatched The Avengers and noticed just how exhausted he is when arrives on Earth. And when he stumbles he is clutching his side as if it hurts. While I don't think he was mind controlled, I do believe he was brainwashed. I have also chosen to believe he _thought_ he was dying in Thor tdw but when he didn't die, he took advantage of it.

9:30 If you watch the behind the scenes for this part Chris Evans is just copping a performance made by Tom Hiddleston. Tom put on the suit first and acted out the scene then Chris put the site on and copied Tom's acting the win should go to Tom for his unseen acting in this scene
