Climbing a Deadly Volcano | 96 | Beau and Brandy Sailing
Since we’ve been at anchor in Saint-Anne we were able to meet up with a lot of great people. We all decided it would be a good idea to climb Mount Pelee which is just north of Saint-Pierre. An early morning van ride a few hours away to us to the trail head, that when we realized it was going to be a wet hike. The fog was thick as we ascended to the volcano rim. The winds were so STRONG, they were pushing us up the mountain. Then the rain started, which felt like pebbles being thrown at our faces. After clearing down hill streams and keeping our footing we made it to the opening. Even though we couldn’t see much because of the fog, it was a great feeling being up there.
To keep the journey going we moved anchorages just northwest to Les Anses-d'Arlet. We tried to fish along the way but got a tangled mess of fishing line halfway there. Once the anchor was set properly we did a little underwater exploring. Hope you enjoy!

I think Ryan & Sophie Sailing is also in Martinique. The just recently crossed over from Cape Verde. If you have the chance, they seem to be very nice and a lot of fun. And, they have a great channel. I would encourage tracking them down if they are still there. Oh, and I think you were looking for a reefed stay sail coming down the mountain...

Back in the day I did La Soufriere in Guadeloupe and you can keep it. Rain , sulfer smell and lots of tourists. NB : Don't rent a car and drive up because the locals are insane and the soft shoulder is 1 inch wide with a real bad drop off into the abyss. Get a topless tan on the beach and have a beer instead. Don't say I didn't warn you.

After converting to electric with the main motor. my qestion is how has the motor contributed to your lifestyle ?. I know that you do not buy feul but what about batteries, do you use the seald maintaince free batteries i am just asking because i do not see you doing any service or water topups. on my next catamaran, i am installing an electric outboard. my new catamaran is only small. so an outboard will be fine. Believe me, we TRIED! We tried, Sierra tried, the cat definitely was set on staying put. Sierra tried to put her in her jacket and she fought her. And then ran and hid in a hole. She wouldn’t come with us.
