More like if voldermort had an IQ of over 1...
@Jedda6785 жыл бұрын
@@remenencenda768 I mean in the movies he isn't that smart. The book voldemort was a lot more clever about setting himself up. Just so happens Dumbledore is the ultimate plot device and shows Harry everything he needs to find and do. Just now the how and where. One horcrux was not given the proper value it deserved so was easily destroyed (albeit no one realized it yet until the 6th book), the ring nearly cost Dumbledore his life, the locket did cost him his life in the end. The other horcruxes were relatively easier to deal with. Harry was the tricky one since well he had to die to destroy the part of Voldemort's soul. Which is weird given that Nagini was indestructible to all magic except the basilisk venom enhanced sword of gryffindor. But the real idiotic thing he did in the books was try to kill Harry himself instead of his death eaters do the job.
@kylesmith95734 жыл бұрын
@@Jedda678 perhaps the sheer power of the killing curse is enough to destroy a horecrux. I never though about that though. Harry should have been invincible and repelled all magic his entire life.

My biggest issue this time was the complaint about the Room of Requirement being different when they have expressly said it becomes what you need it to be. In this case, it's a room where students have gotten rid of unwanted items for decades. The other thing that bothered me was everything about the vanishing cabinet. It was broken and Malfoy had to learn how to repair it. It's not super well explained in the movies, but it's not like it's not hinted at all.

I think he didn't throw it into the ocean at a random place because he thought of the risk of it being found by someone on a beach because of the ocean currents or in the ocean by a diver. And since it could potentially be harmful to him he decided to hide it somewhere else. Otherwise, if I remember well the books stated that Voldemort decided to make exactly 6 horcruxes (so separating his soul in 7 parts) because 7 is the number with the most magic power which would have supposedly given him greater powers, and I seem to remember that he used things that were important to him or of great value because of his obsession to be the greatest wizard in history (and because he considered that his soul was too precious for mundane items).

"Leaving the Assassination to Draco, who thought this was a good idea?" It wasn', Draco was supposed to fail and then Voldemort would kill him. It was supposed to be Voldemort's revenge to Lucius for the Ministry of Magic fiasco and for losing Riddle's diary. Dumbledore and Snape saved Draco's life.
@Thurston863 жыл бұрын
And his soul! Dumbledore’s main argument for Snape to do it was to prevent the damage a murder would cause to Draco’s soul.

why does the most evil wizard in the world need such a convoluted excuse to kill the kid? Just kill him!
@arturo4353 жыл бұрын
@@amodelmannequin Well, in the book it's clear that this was a way more cruel way of killing Draco. Draco gets thinner as the year goes by, becomes lonelier and anxious because Voldemort not only threatened him but his mother as well. Voldemort, in the end, wanted to get the Malfoys out of his way because he knew they were no longer true allies, Lucius had become too comfortable as a rich and influential figure in the magical world and no longer saw a reason for Death Eater activity. Also, having Draco fail meant that Voldemort would order Snape to do it which is what Voldemort wanted, to kill Dumbledore (whom he feared) and to truly test Snape's loyalty once and for all.

No, you don't have more background info of the movies. You have more background info of the books, which are not the same thing.
@wtechboy1810 жыл бұрын
I didn't specify which. watching the movie, I had more background info on the story, because more of the story is explained in the book. they're supposed to be the same story regardless of media, or at least, that's often the goal with movies like this.
@RowanJColeman10 жыл бұрын
Hunter Wall That's what I said. What you read in the book has no bearing on the movie. A movie is a visual medium, you watch it not read it. The film isn't a spin off from the book, it's a completely new take on the story. The events of the book are not the events in the movie. You cannot "explain" an error in a movie by sourcing a book. If you have to go away and read extra material to clarify a plot point then the movie failed with that plot point.

That sin for the wrackspurts was shitty. Everyone knows Luna is crazy, you can't sin the odd girl for being odd. The textbook's recipe isn't wrong necessarily, it's just that the half-blood prince's revisions make the potion brewing easier. It's like taking a short cut. Why the potion isn't used all the time: "Brewed correctly the drinker of this potion will be lucky in all their endeavours, but be warned … excessive consumption is highly toxic and can cause extreme recklessness." And Voldemort had to make a passage to access the Horcrux because like the Journal from the Chamber of Secrets, it has to be found by someone to restore him. If he locks it up for no one to access he wouldn't be able to get out of the Horcrux, or wherever it is locked up.

CinemaSins bring up a good point. Why would someone like HERMIONE GRANGER want to date someone like..well..Ron? What does he have going for him? He's immature to a fault, can't mind his own goddamn business, is a bleeding hypocrite when it comes to romance, has no special talent worth mentioning whatsoever, (there's a reason why he's got that massive inferiority complex), and is the very essence of mediocrity. I just can't figure out why ANYONE would like this dude, especially if they look like Emma Watson and have the brains of Hermione Granger. People tell me that Ron's special because he's "loyal". Please. Who ditched Harry in the fourth book because he thought Harry had conned the goblet, rather than that someone was trying to actively kill him? Ron. Who abandoned Harry and Hermione in the seventh book because he just couldn't handle camping out and having a shitty locket? Ron. Dumbledore even *specifically* gave Ron a tool to help him find his way back to Harry and Hermione because he knew Ron would ditch them. Ron's ditched people more than anyone in the series has ditched anyone else, ever. If that's "loyal" then I'll eat my left foot.

Even if you consider that, liquid luck would still be mass produced and used. Just think in the last book of how many people there were involved in the battle for hogwarts. Unless all of them had already used liquid luck a whole bunch of times there is no reason why a few of them didn't drink any liquid luck. Also wouldnt Voldemort have drunk some? Surely Voldemort has the resources to acquire it, so its only logical for him to use it in a battle that important. Really the whole felix felicis thing is completely bullshit. In fact what's interesting is that throughout the whole series nobody ever uses potions to prepare for a fight/battle/dangerous situation. THAT is fucking insane. What the fuck are potions used for if you can't use them in a fight? Hasn't anyone heard of buff potions? Sure there's Draught of Living Death, so we know there are poisons, but nobody poisons anyone else either.

Slughorn does travel with all his photos. It shows how he prioritizes his connections and prides himself on finding and nurturing talented people, even over his own convenience. Tonks was the one who found Harry on the train in the books, and it's because she was watching for Harry and didn't see him leave the train. The sorting hat always gives a speech, Harry is just usually off doing things like getting his car stuck in a tree and misses it every year, or the movies cut it out because nobody really needs to see it. If you drink liquid luck too often, bad things happen. It's toxic in high doses and makes you giddy, overconfident and reckless. Dumbledore's memory doesn't have to be vivid upon regular recall. That's why the pensieve is so important. When you extract the memories and view them in it, you can see all the little details the fallible human mind can't focus on. Wands focus magical energy and are a powerful tool. However, there are entire cultures where witches and wizards practice wandless magic, such as Native American wizarding communities, and it's definitely possible even for wizards who typically use wands. Tom Riddle was a sociopath. He wanted the full benefit of a magical education, read Dumbledore's body language and noted that even a powerful wizard didn't think his methods and demeanor were cool. So he made sure to reinvent himself before school started. Sociopaths have a remarkable ability to turn on the charm. Also, given Slughorn's surprise at the way Tom was acting in his memory, it's clear it was out of the ordinary for him at that time. We only got to see glimpses of Tom Riddle when he wasn't being careful to conceal himself. He was too excited and forgot to act innocent. There is no such phrase as "on accident". It's "by accident". Making an unbreakable vow doesn't mean that what you vowed will automatically happen. It just means you'd better try your darndest to do the thing, because if you don't complete your task you die. Snape made Dumbledore promise to never reveal the real reason he decided to work for good. Dumbledore isn't the best at revealing things at the best of times. He certainly wouldn't go out of his way to betray Snape's confidence just to set some peoples' minds at ease. The Vanishing cabinet appeared much earlier in an offhand comment in the books, as did many other magical objects that would become important later, like the diadem and the locket. It's one of the many reasons that the books are praised so highly for their world-building. It isn't coincidence that Harry keeps finding Draco, he's stalking him using the Map. Draco isn't experimenting with the cabinet, he's fixing it. It was badly broken, which is why somebody threw it in the room of requirement. Which, by the way appears in many forms according to the user's needs. Its catch-all storage space form appears to anybody who needs to hide something or throw something away, and people have been getting rid of things in there for centuries. And the room doesn't see good and evil, it only sees need. And Draco badly needed to fix that cabinet or risk Voldemort's wrath. He's in full-on panic mode the whole second half of the movie. To get in, you have to know where it typically appears, and walk past it three times while thinking very hard about what you require. Neville found it by accident while pacing, and everybody else (including Draco) can find it now by repeating what he did. Dumbledore knew Voldemort split his soul multiple times and why, but he wanted confirmation, and he wanted to know exactly how many times. He was surprised to learn it was seven because even he didn't think Voldemort was that awful. The cave had a spell on it that prevented regular magical spells like conjuring boats, apparating or summoning water. Muffliato is the anti-eavesdropping spell, but in the heat of the moment one forgets. In the book Dumbledore also put a body-bind curse on Harry to prevent him from interfering in his death. When Snape and Dumbledore make their plans, Dumbledore mentions he doesn't want Draco's soul split. When Snape asks Dumbledore why he isn't worried about Snape's soul, Dumbledore points out that the "murder" would instead be an act of mercy since Dumbledore is dying a slow and painful death already. Draco might not know this, but Snape does, and intentions affect magic.

@ThePeteralonzo839 жыл бұрын
Actually the performers Dan and Emma had a lot of natural onscreen chemistry with each other which is a problem, because their chemistry overshadowed Hr/R and H/G. I consider Ron's actor to be the best among the trio but his chemistry with Emma seemed incredibly forced, while the actress for Ginny is more wooden than Kristen Stewart and had absolutely no chemistry with Dan.

Amy DeVaughan Well first of all Ginny legitimately doesn't have a part outside of having a relationship with Harry so I don't think anyone would care. 1. An unbreakable vow can't aid you in your task, only kill you if you don't complete it. 2. It's specified in the book that Liquid Luck can only be used a few times in a single person's lifetime. 3. Wandless magic has always been possible, only harder and less powerful. 4. There must've been a Death Eater at the other vanishing cabinet which was who bit the apple and sent it back, otherwise how would Draco ever know it had arrived? 5. It's specified later on in the movie Draco was fixing the vanishing cabinet, which is why it needed testing. 6. In the Goblet of Fire it was Mad-eye Moody (or Barty Crouch Jr.) who said "this conversation is no longer private", not Snape. 7. No, they can't just magic up a new house, if they could that would be in the sin-count. 8. You're questioning why Ron doesn't need to intend to make it snow to make it snow, while he's sitting below a magic ceiling with changing weather. 9. The room of requirement contains whatever you need, therefore if you need somewhere to learn to fight, it contains books on the subject and training dummies, while if you need to hide something it reveals a room in which people have hidden things before, which is where Draco could find a hidden vanishing cabinet. 10. Yes, the Patronus Charm is strictly for Dementors. No, it couldn't help in this situation too. Video Sin Tally: 10 Sentence: Split it in SEVEN!!!

2. Liquid Luck can be used as much as desired. Slughorn explains that it just has bad side effects taken in excess. "It is meant to be used sparingly, however, as it causes giddiness, recklessness, and dangerous overconfidence if taken in excess." 3. It is not specified that it's less powerful. "It could be volatile and was often difficult to perform, and could thus only be reliably accomplished by witches and wizards of great skill." 10. Patronuses could be used to communicate, as Dumbledore and Tonks did in the books. And also during wedding in the 7th movie.

I DID wonder about that. If killing someone makes your soul split, would it still split if you and the person you're killing had a mutual agreement beforehand?
@VenusFlytrap74 жыл бұрын
The reason Snape's soul didn't split after he killed Dumbledore was because Dumbledore was already dying and asked Snape to put him out of his misery and also to kill him to save Draco. It was a mercy killing and done out of love and respect with no malice involved. It wasn't something Snape wanted to do but promised Dumbledore that he would do. There was no cruelty involved, thus Snape's soul didn't split. The book covers it, but unfortunately the movie doesn't do that well at all. The movie really is an awful representation of the book.

Aside from calling attention to the same things multiple times, he sins multiple moments because of incorrect interpretation, not because of the story's flaws (and I'm talking about what's shown in the film, not things you need to read the book for) like sinning the fact that no one used the Vanishing Cabinet before when they specifically said he had to mend it first, or sinning the fact that people are trying to find joy in the little things (like cake toppers!) even in the darkest of times. Oh, and every single student has survived every single attempt at murder since year one? Methinks Cedrick might take issue with that incorrect sin.

+silentlamb21 It was Draco's idea to mend the cabinet. A Slytherin student had gotten stuck in it (thanks Fred & George), and Malfoy realized that it was the other end of the cabinet in Borgin and Burkes. No other Death Eater/ Voldemort ever knew about the cabinet to utilize it functionally.

Even worse: in this movie, Luna moves Harry's cloak off of him with a spell. We know from the books that Harry's Cloak is immune to all spells because it's literally THE invisibility cloak of Death. Luna seeing through it with the stupid goggles and then magicking it off of him completely undermines the specialness and importance of the deathly hallow he inherited from his Peverell ancestor.
@ellerymerrilycelery9 жыл бұрын
She couldn't see through the Cloak, she saw what were supposedly Wrackspurts. This is still a sin, though, on the movie, because the things that Luna believes in (like Nargles, Crumple Horned Snorkacks, etc) are the equivalent of things to us (the real world) like unicorns, magic and fairies. The whole point of inserting Luna's beliefs into the story was to provoke theories and interest in things where no proof could be provided for their existence, just like humans can neither prove or disprove magic; it's based on fact and belief, whether it's nutso or not. So, sin on the movies for taking away the mystery and fun out of un-provable things like Wrackspurts by allowing Luna to be able to see them.

The liquid luck potion is the stupides thing in the universe already as it is but not the least because it indeed utterly hurts the whole storyline, for the reasons mentioned in this video. If it hadn't been made a crucial and unavoidable part of the sixth book's plot, I would totally remove its existence in my fanfiction universe. But as it is, I can't and have to just ignore it while it exists. Don't get me wrong, I love the HP books and universe, I live and breathe them and I love Rowling for writing them. Also, with the time turner, there still exists a dicotomy about time travel in their world, that's is why time travel is extremely restricted in the magic world, only used in mundane stuff and given to certain people, that is, until the battle of Ministry of Magic, when all the time turners in existence were destroyed (omitted in the movies, so it doesn't cpunt there, though) and Dumbledore had a thing against changing majot events in the time travel. Also, veritaserum is prohibited and only used against criminals.

Funny, but arguably somewhat inaccurate in some places. Now, I'm not an expert on Harry Potter but for example, if I'm not mistaken the vanishing cabinet was originally broken and that's why he had to test it. Plus, it's really not that crazy Dumbledore wouldn't tell everyone everything in a world where mind reading is a thing. Keeping your cards close to your chest and telling people things only on a need to know basis is often not a bad idea, if a bit Machiavellian. Slughorn saying that Voldemort's monster was buried deep down was also later revealed to be him just being evasive. And not doing anything with the cursed girl, well... yes they know magic, but they're only young students. It's not that crazy to think they wouldn't know the right spells to coutneract whatever was happening or being able to figure out what WAS happening. Also, magic NEVER had to be done on purpose to happen. Plus, the snow was more an existing spell interacting with an emotion, near as I can figure.
