the reason why they can do classic graphics here but not in the previous one is because Sega lost the source code of HOTD1 which is why it didn't appear in the 2 & 3 compilation on the Wii, thats why they had to completely remake the game where as HOTD2 they do still have the original source code so they have two options. They can either do a graphic filter that swaps out all the textures for the original ones in the menus, or if they build this game to run off the original games code, they can do that cool thing where you can near seamlessly swap the old and new models on the fly, though this one is tricker to do so they'll likely do the former. As for why this one is doing the original soundtrack too, this is just a hunch, but the rights to the original games OST might belong to a band and SEGA has had a bad track record of renegotiating music licenses, we've seen this most infamously in Crazy Taxi but believe it or not also in the famous Green Hill Zone which Sega didn't always own which lead to a few instances of recalls of games that had the track in unauthorized games, including sonic ones (I think they've since hashed that out)

I have watched the trailer and HOLY COW, IT'S GONNA BE AWESOME... Also got confused about why James and Gary had Rogan's hurt and reload sounds but man, I'm excited to see more remake James and Gary... Also G and others like Goldman. Hopefully this game would be a bit better... :3

Man, I really hate the instant ragdoll-ing of enemies on death. It looks so cheap compared to the OG. Watching footage of the original, where the enemies get holes blasted into them, limbs shot off... It feels so weighty and CHUNKY. this looks so lazy and unsatisfying.

Actually its not, and that is what they planning. The point of the tie in is to grab new fans which is what they stated they going to do with the games and movies based around them. Like it or not, that's whats happening i'm afraid. It already started with the Yakuza switch release and the Sonic X Shadow DLC releases. Both tied with he release of their live action media entries.
