Signing Piastri was the death knell for McLaren's attempted grab of Palou, really don't know what Zak expected when he did that because Palou certainly wasn't signing McL because he thought the IndyCar team was any good. They deserve what the got though, dangling F1 over drivers' heads with no intention of actually making the offer is real scummy

Yeah, it feels like the only driver that will actually race the full season next year is O'Ward. I think the others will be in and out of the other cars a lot with McLaren never happy with the performances of anyone else, even if they win a race or three... Idk, they have had great drivers other than O'Ward and dumped them for the shiny new thing...

As a McLaren fan, this whole saga has been completely bonkers and it just keeps on going with no end in sight. Why the IndyCar team has been involved in so many driver lineup controversies over the last few years I have no idea. The Palou case has been a doozy and I guess it would make some sense if Théo Pourchaire was collateral damage. However, some people have also suggested that his Sauber connections might've played a part as well, though personally I think he's very low in the pecking order for getting that particular drive. The Malukas situation was really harsh as well, and if the case played a part in that, well, the story's even madder. Pourchaire's been my favourite driver to watch in F2 over the last few years so I was happy that he got the McLaren drive (albeit the circumstances weren't great what with the Malukas situation), so the decision to drop him stung in that sense (him coming back in Toronto was quite ironic). Never mind that it made virtually no sense. To be fair to Nolan Siegel, he's generally kept out of trouble in the #6 so far and benefitted from any chaos (apart from Toronto), but he does have a lot of pressure on his shoulders thanks to the circumstances surrounding his signing.
