@@darren6589 he means the extra mile as in like cutting through backyards and having the presence of mind to go to a neighbors home instead of her home which was closer to his. i feel like a lot of people might just go straight to their own home as fast as they could. shortest route down the street. since he had been out actively looking for her at that time, there's a high chance that she would have been spotted by him and likely would have fled town. i do consider her actions 'the extra mile' because she, again, had presence of mind in that situation.

You'd be surprised how often this happens. Especially if its a stranger and the person doesn't want to pick them up or have them in their vehicle, not knowing if it's a set up.

Theres a case in Mexico where a teenager was kidnapped and held for ransom and her parents where made to pay monthly to get her back and they would never deliver her to the parents as promised but every time they wanted money they would send them pieces of her hair an or videos of her being abused and stuff like that and this went on for three years and then they finally killed her after three years

I worked with her parents at the local Turkey store in Barron. She was the sweetest. He had a humorous personality. As it only 10 minutes away from my house at the time. It was certainly frightening. I remembered thinking to myself, "where did they take her?" If Jamie ever reads this, my heart will always go out to you. You are one of the bravest people I've ever heard of. I find it to be one of those deeply odd things in life when you see someone and want to just say something nice to them or even give them a big old hug; but it'd either be wildly inappropriate or taken badly because you don't know them well enough. I’ve heard a ton of about this case, but it never ceases to horrify and absolutely amaze me. The father who misinterpreted information from the other side of the door leading to his death, the mother trying to protect her daughter as she herself was being M’ed, to the daughter that witnessed BOTH of her parents die right in front of her only to be kidnapped with god knows what in store for her. She is absolutely AMAZING. She wasn’t found, she RESCUED HERSELF. There’s been a few cases I’ve heard like this where the intended victim manipulates their kidnapper, takes in all the information they can, and gauge the best moment to make their move to escape or flag an alert to someone. The STRENGTH it takes to not only FIGHT, but to carefully weigh out your options and plan in such a high state of fear is truly remarkable. No one knows how they will act in a state of life-threatening fear-you got fight, flight, freeze, and fawn.. and sometimes the best way to get out of it is to fawn when needed to lull the perp into a false sense of security, and fight when you have your moment. As an autistic/adhd person, lm generally a freezer (shutdown) or a fawner and my mind cannot process the information in a helpful way or in a speedy way, so I’m always in awe of folks that meet these kinds of odds and get THEMSELVES out of it.

Jayme was the valuable he wanted. If she put up a strong fight after he got her to his dad's house, and he killed her there, then there would be evidence linking him. @@theclearsounds3911 guess the point was that he could've taken her when she was alone outside the house. people are vulnerable especially when they're alone waiting for something like a bus stop. if there's no other people around the attacker could just calmly get out of the car, open the trunk and while the victim might find it strange they wouldn't necessarily expect anything to be wrong until they have a gun in their face and they were told to get in the trunk and at that point they're out of options.

I remember "watching" this case go down in real time. . .and the speculations while Jayme was STILL MISSING made my stomach turn. The Facebook posts in this video are just a blip of the stuff I saw. So many people saying she was suspect number one while she was missing--and then even after the girl had been found and was safe there were STILL people analyzing her body language, her facial expressions, her speech patterns. . .it was disgusting. Shock and grief effects everyone differently and it's awful to think it's okay to read someone's body language, which can just not match up at all (for example, some Autistic folks like myself just go completely blank when under pressure and it makes us look cold and unfeeling when really we're trying to prevent a meltdown of emotion), and assume the girl was in on it. And double down further that you think she's lying when the police have cleared her because you "know better" than trained police officers. Give me a break.

I don't live far from Barron and this case gripped all of us for the entirety. Her picture was everywhere and burned in our brains. I can recognize it from the tiniest of thumbnails. NOTHING violent happens around here and this family seemed like a random target right from the beginning because of their genuine, sweet nature. i live about an hour south of barron. jayme is about the same age as me, and i still vividly remember receiving her amber alert in the middle of class in high school, the fear and sadness that washed over the room as our phones starting going off. some of my classmates had competed with her in sports (maybe cross country?). i still think about her and her family to this day and we were all so relieved to hear she was found and safe. rip the closs family

Although it may be quite and quaint up there, just south about 45 miles is Eau Claire. That, and places like La Crosse aren't much different than septic tanks like Detroit, near me. Sometimes they back up and make a mess. I remember this very well myself, and I'm so thankful she's alive and can hopefully be able to deal with the mountain of trauma she has endured. I strongly feel that you don't have to serve in the military to suffer from combat induced PTSD. That young lady was literally at war with the devil himself. I personally couldn't be more inspired by her strength and bravery!

Just a tip from a carpenter: make sure you have 3 inch screws in your door jam into the stud to prevent the door from being kicked in. This also applies to the catch on the door if you have a solid wood door. Not all locks are equal so make sure you pick quality over price!

I remember this case, staff and teachers at my school were on edge hearing of this case. We had all hoped for a good out come, that Jayme would be found and be returned to her family. I remember coming home every single day after school and just looking up any update there was. Then came the update everyone hoped for. The day that Jayme was found alive! I just remember crying out of joy knowing that she's alive and was able to go back to the rest of her family and her dog.

Police had already dismissed that theory. 88 days frightened after witnessing her parents being murdered by this nut case and finally working up the courage to escape. No one said how he got into their house. Did he break in or was the door unlocked? The 911 operator told the neighbors who found her to lock the door. Maybe it was the custom there to not lock doors, and the killer just walked in. I was amazed that anyone had to be told to lock doors in 2018.

I remember this case like it happened yesterday. I think everyone in Wisconsin was cheering when it was announced on the news that she had escaped her kidnapper and saved herself. We were all shocked to find out she was still alive. It was such a joyous day, especially for her remaining relatives.

I have wondered how Jaime is doing now. She is one smart strong and brave girl. The fact she left that despicable creeps house as soon as she could. I think if she had tried to escape before she had lulled him into a sense of false security that she was happy to be there and wouldn’t leave. That was enough to not lock her up and away. And shortly after he left she grabbed what she could to be warm enough outside in the Midwest winter. I’m so proud she found someone to help her on her journey outside of that house. I don’t remember why the dog walker didn’t bring her to her house. I’m just happy that the first house that they came to got her inside and helped her. And even after the creep was arrested. I’m glad he realized he didn’t have a chance of getting away with it and he just pled guilty. So Jaime wouldn’t have to go through explaining everything that she knew. At least he was considerate of not making her testify. I hope he is scared to death daily in his prison cell. And I hope he is forced to think about the fact he will never see her again.

I was obsessed with this case and there is information not put in this 1 90 percent of the time because he was up on on her never letting her alone he was unemployed he was at home it was only very little amount of time that she was under the bed he was there constantly 2 They shared the same bed very weird 3 He didn’t exactly say he did it right away like they said but it did confess very soon after he was arrested 4 When police came to get Jayme once she found out they arrested patterson they officers said she smiled a lot 5 When she was found and at the neighbors house she was said to be in a very dazed extremely exhausted shaking not reacting shock type of state hair extremely matted Very skinny just very flat state emotions 6 The FBI was investigating involved with this case from day one it was extremely throughly investigated from the start 7 She was given a ton of physical test done and the hospital and a mental evaluation and wasn’t reunited with her aunt/her moms older sister until late the next afternoon to legally adopt her . She gave her aunt a massive hug when she saw her aunt. 8 All her family members have said they can totally see the trauma and damage. She is different after she got back 9 Her aunt made her get into trauma therapy soon after they got her home 10 He confessed in prison had a goal of killing multiple family’s and stealing their very young preteen/early teen daughters and torturing them play mind games with them he said he wanted to see the world burn. 11 He made her play games with him all the time and forced her to act like a wife and cook all homemade food for him 12 I know from following the case in real time that they dropped the charges in the county he held Jayme in. He did sexual assault/r@pe her. But her aunt who adopted her and her aunts and uncles from both sides decided to not take those charges to trial so as to not traumatize her and make those details public. They made sure to put as little information as to what happened to her in the public records. He’s a registered sex offender 13 Her cousin who is a woman is a police officer and they saw her picture with in the house recognized her as a colleague called her then that was how they found out she lived there. 14 Her police cousin is the daughter of the older sister of Jayme mom who adopted her. 15 Jayme has said that she would reveal what happened to her and do an interview but it would be in several years so she can be healed enough emotionally to do so 16 Jayme is 18 years old this year and at college 17 Her family is extremely protective of her and came together won’t do interviews until Jayme is emotionally ready and only after she does hers 18 Barron has only had 3 murders in Almost 40 years. 19 They tore down jayme home she wanted it torn down so she wouldn’t be traumatized by seeing it 20 Her aunt who adopted her had a daycare service she also lives in Barron she looked after Jayme everyday of the week sometimes Saturdays while her parents worked for 12 years straight she was basically a second mom to Jayme.,

I don’t know about this situation and country, but with some traumatic situation they’re going to a room after they’re done. There they can talk with each other and/or with a professionals (if needed). This is for medics, firefighters and police. I’ve seen this on tv, where a paramedic said this and showed the room. I don’t if it’s special room or a break room or whatever. Dispatchers can also take a break after a heavy situation (I can imagine after hearing the lady scream, you’ll need a break).

You get that sense, even without hearing the prior 911 call. Some audio clips tell the story with a somewhat steady sense of progression, but hearing the one officer say "Get a long gun. QUICK" takes it from 1 to 100.
