True. But it is a good thing that some religions are progressive. Like the episcopal church. I heard out one Methodist church refusing to perform heterosexual marriages until same sex marriages became legal in their state. I'm not religious at all but am glad some religions are progressive.

What really sucks about this whole homosexuality debate is that both sides can be argued to be lying. Those who say that they are ex-gay may just be faking it or even deluding themselves. Those who say that ex-gay therapy doesn't work could be dismissing cases where change is successful. I think its hard to NOT get misled in this whole debate.

Feminism says that the gender roles, dress, manner and work is entirely socially constructed. If a trans person says they have an innate need to conform to one of these roles they are inferring that such a need is innate in all people. In a feminist ideal world, there would be no difference between the dress and mannerism of women and men, including hair and make up etc. So transgenderism in its need to stereotype gender is against this notion

It then must also follow that gender is innate. If gender is innate modern feminism is thus undermined as such a truth would infer that gender is a social construct. If gender is a social construct, what is it that a transgender person needs to "become"? Do they have biological needs to fulfill a socially constructed role? If gender is innate, then it follows that there is actually an innate difference between men and women and therefore innate strengths and weakness'. This is anti-feminsm

I lived as a gay man since I was 18 and I am now 49. I did for many years pray and have shame over my sexuality. Finally just recently I finally gave control over to God to change my sexuality if that was his will. That was the first time I actually whole heartedly and freely was open to letting him change me. Honestly I had seen videos of people saying that they had changed and I just thought they were dillusional or faking it. So what was my first step....I decided to become celabate. I can honestly say....I now have very little if any sexual attraction to men anymore. Now, let´s be clear.... I am not straight by any means... and I do not know what God´s plan is for others but I can tell you that this is what happened to me. I was very lonely as a gay man. I never felt good enough, thin enough, masculine enough, rich enough, just enough. I never had friends in the community and I never felt I belonged. Please do not think I judge anyone because nothing could be further from the truth. I just wanted to share my story in case anyone was interested. As my spirit has changed in my walk with God I feel so much different and I can feel the Holy Spirit within me. I get excited talking about God and it is what worked for me. A lot of gay people think they are not worthy of God´s love and that is just a lie from the devil. I love you and so does he. If like me your are unhappy... just if... if you wanna try something different....not pushing you into anything.... but if you were like me.... maybe you too will choose to do what I did. (-:

DUUUUDDE! I was thinking the same thing. I watched a video about Josue Gutierrez and he mentioned how he used to struggle with his sexuality and then with prayer and fasting he got delivered. He gave me hope, but I was skeptical to be honest. Then I saw a video about this youtuber called Jackie Hill Perry and she mentioned how although she is in the faith, her temptation is still there, so that made me less hopeful. I've been trying to be determined. I read the bible and try to get stronger in the faith and see what happens along the way. I'm 25. I never really celebrated my sexuality because I was afraid of being outcasted and deep down I did not want to be what I thought I was because no one ask to be gay. who want to be hated by society, by your (my) family. Also, another reason I never celebrated it is that I wanted children. In the past I thought, sexuality is natural. It's a spectrum and you can't change it. You know society say you're born this way, but I want to see if I could change. What comforting is that I see that I'm not the only one with this struggle.

But if wanting to be part of specific group based on gender is innate, that would infer that the groups themselves being separate are innate. This would then also mean that there were innate differences in men and women. Gender based clothing, manners, roles etc are all things which even moderate feminism believes to be a product of the patriarchy and thus a symptom of oppression. Transgendered people encourage such stereotypes.

Jesus didn't mention it, but Leviticus prescribed that practitioners should be stoned to death, and Paul asserted that they will be cast into eternal fire (along with just about everyone else.) It is these passages that I find sadistic and evil, and you are a clear example of someone who doesn't need the Bible to be compassionate.

No you are right- it is not only innate- it is also partly social but there is an innate element to it which feminism does not acknowledge. There is also the issue of evolutionary psychology which is related to the last point. If there have been tests that are peer reviewed and genuinely prove that some transgender people have innately different brains which are similar to females then that is fine. Do you think that they should test individuals to see if it is innate or purely psychological?

I agree that in as far as the state goes they should have no right to interfere with peoples sexuality- but I think all western countries stand by that. The issue is people who are free agents from the state choosing to believe certain things and even promote them. People are not required legally to believe these people but they must be allowed to be free in their own beliefs. It is actually bigoted to try to force everyone to accept that homosexuality is natural and innate.

I think it's possible gays can be straight. I say this as it's possible to change what you are attracted to. I used to as a young child be attracted to brunette women the most but during early teenage years I was dumped by a beautiful brunette who was cold. The effect it had on me was to suddenly only be attracted to blonde women from that point on. Women like Michelle Pfeiffer. Before that I liked Latin looking women. Now I feel nothing for then even if I see a supposedly stunning one. Now if I can change what I am attracted to surely gay men can change their fault and rewrite themselves to finding women attractive? Why not?!

so you must want the attraction or to change the attraction for it to work. I also am not attracted to black women. I also dont want to be attracted to them so its the same thing. I will never find them attractive i dont think. if you want something you can have it if you want it enough, you can change. Therefore i think because of propaganda that we have now saying gay is cool etc and fashionable. it has an impression on some youngsters who will want to be trendy. it is then possible to change their sexual orientation in some cases. This why i dont agree with propaganda or pro gay lobiests.

Well there are many meanings to the word normal- normal "Conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected" is one of them and heterosexuality is far more common and therefore could be described as normal. In addition to this evolutionary- it is the normal most common state of being because it is required to procreate and therefore by definition is more common. It is also beyond doubt that the genitalia of men and women evolved for hetrosexual sex- this is not a dig at gays- its just facts

No straight person understands what it's like to be gay.They don't understand what it's like to hide yourself, to be paranoid about someone finding out about your secret, to be scared about going to hell when all you want to do is be happy. To cry everyday because your the other and get bullied and abused because of it. No straight person would understand the inner turmoil. So your telling me that after all that shit that I'm going to hell...no way. Stop with the hate, show some compassion!!!!

I left the bisexual lifestyle as a teen. there is no praying it away, it is a choice as much as polygamy is.
@frankfarrell13699 жыл бұрын
+Jesus Freaks If you're bisexual it's a bit easier to repress one side of your attractions. Homosexuality is a different ballgame. I don't understand people who say it's a choice, even when there are kids committing suicide over suppressing their sexuality. As if they're just "choosing" to up and kill themselves to relieve themselves of the pain inflicted by their own families and religions.

Or you weren’t really bisexual. 🤷🏻

This video is very one sided. We didnt relalyhear about the other views, exocet to hear soemoen espouce them and somnehow, this makes them wrong or wicked. I also dislike the emotional ending. Its too manipulative.

***** Have we? Or have we seen what we ae supposed to see? I've met soem ex gays who seem perfeclty normal, and frankly I don't buy the fixed sexual pientation model anyway. I relaly don't think the topic is as simple as most think and dn't think all ex gays are just suppressing their True Natures, and why should I? I also don' think all Gays become Atheists since I know Gay Christians. Why was that one bloke picked? Because the presenter is an Atheist who has spoken ill of Christianity. This helps in other arenas too. I dislike such sloppiness, from either side.

ZAROVE ETERNIUS Wow. You claim that what Al Elietto provided is not evidence? You can't call quotes from people who have done much wider research than you could ever hope to do, merely cut and paste. Your personal observation can only be anecdotal, as it does not cover a wide enough sample and you have not established the paradigms for your findings. There are several youtube videos where the leader of Exodus International admitted that he was not free of homosexual feelings even BEFORE his organisation was disbanded and he offered gay people an apology for any distress his organisation may have caused. Of course not all organisations can claim to be infallible. However, if my car broke down I'd go to the team of mechanics at my local garage rather than some guy who claims he can fix it in his backyard. You ask for actual data. Where is yours?
@zaroveeternius892210 жыл бұрын
tony bennett i'm getting a Doctorate in Psychology, so this isn't Research on a much wider scope than I coudl ever hope to do. Worse still, his "Evidence" is not from Research at all, its from websites. He hasn't read the original reports, and has no idea hat Dissenting positions others may hold to. He just went to a website that told him what he wanted ot hear and copied the quotes from there. It's like how peopel go to websites and find quotes from America's Founders to promote whatever political position they want ot promote. Context is everything, and if you want o be honest with Researhc you never quote a handful of Papers out of context that support what you said. What about the reports that disagree? They exist, you know. All we know about Homosexuality at present is that some people are Gay, and that it is not ourely Genetic. Most Researchers doutb it has a signifigant Genetic COmponent as we have foudn none and we have doen Genetic Testign while some do suggest perhaps a genetic component, but none suggest it beign ourely genetic. If it i not Genetic, then it is mroe htan liekly alterable. We do not know the absolute cause of Homosexuality, or even if it has an absokute cause. It may be a combinaiton of Factors, ro worse, a combination of Factors that varies form indiviual to individual dependant on cultural, social, and indiviual experinces. Current Research hax not determined the exact caue of Homosexuality and may researchers now lean towards the idea that thee is no singular pathn or set of ocnditions from which ist emerges. Could what I just wrote be enturely wrong? Yes, yes it can be, but you can't prove it wogn by gpign to an avocacy website that exists to prove Homoseuality is innate nd Ex Gay Therapy is Evil and expct to find the Truth. What you fidn thee is propaganda. Also, I don't care about Exodus International, as that too is just one small orginisation which itself had a Political motivation. I knwo this is the Internet btu soem of us ar emroe nuanced than just "Rational people who accept Homsoexuliy and Christaisn who rject it". Hell, their's even a Gay Christain Network, and several Denominations in Christainity like the United Churches Of Christ, or the Presbyterian Church USA activley endorse Homosexuality. This is not a Religious Discussion for me, but a Scentific one. Scientificlaly speaking we cannot deermien the cause of Homosexuality, and curfent researhc does indicate that some peopel change ovr Time. If you aren't willign to accept that, and just want to promote the viewpoitn of innate Homosexuality and conemn all Ex Gay Therapy, then you aren't discussing the topic. Your stanign on a soap box instead.

ZAROVE ETERNIUS There is, as you say, no exact consensus regarding the causes of homosexuality, However, there are strong indications from extensive research and interviews with gay men, that if it is not genetic, it acts as if it were. That is why there is a loose consensus that it may be a combination of genetic and environmental factors. That's as close as it gets. I am from a generation where homosexuality was not only illegal, but could have lost me my job, could have landed me in prison and could have led to my rejection by family and friends. What stronger motivation could there be to change? Yet try as I might, it didn't happen. At that time, rather brutal aversion therapy was tried. It resulted in damaged gay people, not happily heterosexual people. There are serious question marks over those who claim that if only gay people want it enough, it is possible to be changed. The flaws in that approach are greater than the possibilty that homosexuality is at least partly innate. No matter how you put it, it is rather presumptuous to suppose that you have greater knowledge and expertise than the worldwide bodies quoted by Al. Until you have walked in the shoes of gay people, you can only make suppositions and assertions. I don't know where you can go to be sure that a statement about gay people may be true, but a good place to start would be to ask as many gay people as possible, from as wide a cross section of society as possible. I submit that by definition, no matter what personal study you may have done, you do not have the wherewithal to achieve that. You admit that, yes, it's possible you got it wrong. I would add that you had better make damned sure you haven't got it wrong as these are not mere statistics we are talking, these are flesh and blood people who do not deserve to have happiness and fulfilment denied to them, unless there is absolute proof to support such a stance. The burden of proof, then, does not fall on gay people. You can dismiss that as standing on a soapbox if you wish. However that does not make any useful contribution to the debate.

tony bennett Look, I don't mean to be rude about your past but, that's not what we're discussing, is it? The problem with Interviews with Gay men, or with your own testamony, si that you will be emotionally ivnested and thus Biased, and liekly have no Trainign at all to dven help coutneract this Bias. All I want to discuss is the Science. That's it. Also, curently there's no a consensus that Gemeticas ar einvovled at all. Some researchers say they are, or might be, but there is no common COnsensus abotu them and plenty of doubts. Yes I know I am beign vauge but, what mroe do you want? I am actually enterign Psychology and if somethign goes beyind what we know, I tend ot say as much. But the simpel eality is, we have peopel who bhave self reported a change in their secxual rpeferences, and have actedon this chaznge, and seem to show no indication of suprpesion of a True Nature. We have no actual basis to clim there is a Genetic COmponent to Homosxuality. We hae thusfar no evidence to back up that it si innate. And if it is nto genetic, then we do nto sya it "Acts liek it is Genetic'. No, it does not. Nothgin acts liek tis genetic unless its Genetic. Also, shoudlnt you heed yoru own advoce? WHat if you got it wrogn and there is a way to change ines Sexuality? I cant have "Gotten it wrong", no did I say I did, sicne I mad eno absolute claims. But you did. If your worng andpeoepl can change form gay to straight, then peoepl who o not wan tot be gay will suffer. But you dont consider them. I have to. Just liek I have to consider the feeligns of peopel who want ot be Gay ( Which yes I have met.) If someone wants to change, or try to change, I say we allow it. We have no evidnece thet cant and if they ae Adults they shoudl determien their own Fate. That is c alled beign responcible with what we know. Hows is it responcibel to simply condemn all peopel who have ever tried to belp spmeone overcome unanted Homosexual impulsed? EVen fi they were sincere? Condemnation works both ways. Peopel who wan to leave Homsoexuality are flesh and blood too. By the way, can the Burden of Prood attemopt. When Militant Atheusts began that quibble it was to shelter their Athiesm by shiftign all the blame to the THeist, and nwo its on evert debate. The Burden Of Proof is not on me, itson you. If you say that Homosexuality is innatr and unalterable, you'r the oen makignt he claim and your the one with the burden fo proof. All I said was that current reearch has not given rise to a consensus and we do not know. Well, hwo the Hell do I prove an I Don't know? You're the only one makign assertions.
