No, it's 'cos they suck. Third one was mediocre but with a good ending, Salvation was dumb with more holes than swiss cheese and Genisys was a disjointed mess where they basically threw everything at it hoping something would stick. None of it did.

"I don't wanna second guess myself after all those years" - it's the kind of words somebody should have said to Lucas many years ago
@Moviefan2k4
@Moviefan2k4 8 ай бұрын
Lucas has said many times that with the original trilogy (and in particular, "A New Hope"), he was forced by his low budget and the technological limits of the time to vastly reduce the ideas he wanted to convey on-screen. So it wasn't a matter of second-guessing himself, just updating his own movies to better fit the vision he had in his own mind.

@guileniam Little niggles aside, this is still the best example of a near perfect action movie, and probably the best "sequel" movie released. The pacing of the whole thing is spot on, even the slower segments. BUT....😂 once I properly noticed this I now cannot un-notice it lol. The ending with Arnie damaged etc that fixed , non moving t800 eye against his real moving eye seems tad cheap an cheesy nowadays, if they only updated 1 thing on the whole thing I'd have been happy with that. Bit of cgi to make it match the real eye etc

This is btw not the only thing they changed. A couple of body double shots have been changed as well, where you obviously saw the stunt man instead of Arnold. Arnold's face has been superimposed over the other. And they removed Robert Patricks scrotum at the beginning of the film. And there is also some other minor changes. But the windshield of the truck is not the only thing they changed.

Did they change a right wheel of the truck, which clearly seen as broken after falling of the bridge? Or face of mannequin when that truck is blowing up - in original version, it had some stupid cap wearing on his head, that really broke immersion.

A directors cut is a common thing and it is not a problem, but that's not what Lucas did. Lucas LIED to his fans, and ERASED the originals. That is a destruction of art and it is completely different from tweaking around a later release or "director's cut."

I watched T2 back in the days for more than 100 times. Ain't kidding. T2 is one of my favorite movie of all time and always will be. Starting from the 3rd watch and on at the truck chase scene I was bugged as Cameron did BUT not to the wind shield. I also noticed that but the real problem for me was the right front tire of the truck that got broken of. It is not possible for the truck to continue functioning with that damage. Wind shield is much a minor issue. Whether it is the wind shield or the broken tire the movie was and still so great in many ways that these minor "faults" have no importance at all but still I hope Cameron fixed the tire as well. :D

Such a cool change! I was watching the 3D version in the theater, and I was really getting into it, with the audience, a lot more than I thought I could and that scene was coming up and I was remembering there was a blatant continuity error but the scene passed by and I didn't even notice the continuity error and I thought it was just 'cause I was so in the film. I don't understand James Cameron's complete and utter love of 3-D. Have you ever taken your 3-D glasses off during the movie and noticed how much brighter the screen is and that a lot of the scenes aren't even in 3-D and don't warrant wearing the glasses? For a director who wants to give us the full visual experience, you would think he would be against something that actually hinders what you see. Until they eliminate the need for the glasses and make the screen itself a 3-D monitor, I'm not watching any more 3-D movies.
@tronam
@tronam Жыл бұрын
Theaters properly calibrated for 3D are supposed to brighten the projector to compensate for the loss of light by the polarized glasses. Sadly not all of them do resulting in a subpar experience. 3D can be excellent, especially in a premium theater like Dolby Cinema where the screen is appropriately bright, sharp and contrasty.

I watch this movie in Japan. I really didn't care about the 3D at all. I was just happy that I can finally see Terminator 2 on the big screen! What he should have done, was actually used the full Skynet version. This version is the original theater cut with none of the extra scenes added into it. Since depth perception is little bit difficult for me, I couldn't see the 3D too much unless the guns were like really close to the camera.

I think everyone noticed it when it was originally released. well, at least i did when i saw it multiple times on VHS. theres also other errors in the film that could be seen on the VHS version because of the aspect ratio change. the full screen version is different from the widescreen version as it shows more on the top and bottom instead of left and right. example: when the T800 smashes the payphone for a quarter, in the VHS version you can see the cut out in plastic of the phone, but in the widescreen that part is cut off.

I know most people probably don't notice, but the whole reason the truck veers right and starts to slow down after impact is because the front axle and control arm are utterly wrecked and falling off the truck's frame rails. In reality, John would have looked behind his shoulder and just laughed as the T-1000 sat there in a broken truck facing the canal wall. But hey, at least the broken windows got fixed! 😁

More than the windshield I've always noticed how the front suspension of the truck completely busts in the drop and leaves the other front wheel pointing steeply right and the other one left. But the magic of editing fixes the suspension so the truck keeps going. I think they should have made the wheels aligned again for this release. Also replacing the obvious stunt actor's face in the cockpit when T-800 lifts John onto his bike would have been good.

i think the stunt man looks a bit like john claude van damme but when it was on VHS it wasn't that obvious and if you tried to pause it it was a blur,it's only because dvds and blue rays are so clear now you can see that stuff and it's only big time fans of the movies who notice this stuff most people wouldn't notice but i think it has been sorted out for the new release.

Hopefully he changed the steering as well. you can clearly see that the front axel snapped and the truck pull screen left after it lands, the wheel on that side is folded around almost 90 degrees, then it drives fine the rest of the scene. I saw it in the cinema in 1992 and noticed both straight away. There is also a shot shortly before where you can see the camera mounted to the side of the truck. it is shortly after Arnold gets in and hits the first car.

I totally get what James Cameron feels, looking back at your previous works and find these tiny little details that no one but you feel uncomfortable with.

It never came to South Africa. I was so sad because it's my best film and I've only ever seen it on VHS or TV or DVD.

What actually bugged fans wasnt the windshield it was that Arnie drives towards a sharp triangular edge then when his bikes rides off it's a squar ledge. 😅

Han shot first .. man . That wind shield falling out was pivotal to the later character development .. time to star an internet campaign to get it back in.

+DougalDylan I don't know where people get the "Han shot first" thing. Han was the only one to shoot. Greedo didn't shoot at all.

Greg R totally agree Han was they only one to get a shot of and made him a real badass,the "special"edition make his character a bit of a pansy.

Even if for two week's in the States the first run of star wars (the true,"A New Hope") Had Greedo shoot first.

... And then he added Arnold's face over the stuntman doing the bike jump into the canal for the 4k version. What next? Remaking the CGI elements completely? Slippery slope

Funny thing is that what bugged me about that scene was that the front right wheel gets wrecked in the fall and then is fine one cut later. With my concentration on that, I never once noticed the windshields fall out.

Cue 40 minute RedLetterMedia video about how the windshields falling out were integral to T-2.

I thought he was going to talk about the noticable stunt double as Arnold in that scene. I believe they photoshopped it this time around. Noticed it in the trailer

I can’t believe he didn’t do the extended version, it’s only the theatrical, still cool but all the extra scenes make the movie way better.
