I watched 12 Angry Men as a kid, came on real late and I didn't feel like walking to the TV to change the channel. It was 1992 but the tv was from mid 80s, no remote. I loved the movie, I didn't know it was a classic at the time or that it came out in the 50s.

....so. Do you remember those jury instructions said that the jurors didn't have to agree on a single underlying crime? It doesn't take a creative mind to read that as: "You don't have to agree on specifically which crime was committed. You just have to agree there was one." Don't get me wrong, I'm curious to see where the Georgia cases go - but the New York case has lived up to its original promise of being complete and utter trash. I mean, Jesus. They gave a "guilty" verdict for a secondary crime....without convicting Trump of a single one of the alleged underlying crimes. That's not due process. That's a corrupt NY state justice system. But that blame doesn't fall on the jurors - it falls on the judge and the politicians that made those instructions possible.

Burglary is technically defined as "illegal entry with an intent to commit a crime, such as theft." Conviction for burglary does NOT require jurors to agree which crime the the burglar intended to commit via their illegal entry. The subsequent crime might have been theft, kidnapping, vandalism, intimidation, or sexual assault. The burglar might not have known in advance what crime they would commit; they might have just been looking for criminal opportunities. One does not need to be convicted of any other crime to be convicted for burglary. The standard jury instructions re burglary do NOT require jurors to agree which specific crime the illegal entry was intended to be in service of. Similarly, the crime Trump was charged with was "falsifying business records with an intent to commit a crime." That crime might have been a violation of state or federal election finance law, or tax code violations. The instructions the jury received were standard boiler-plate instructions used for ALL defendants charged with that particular crime. Those instructions were similar to the STANDARD boiler-plate instructions given when a defendant is charged with burglary. There was nothing exceptional or unreasonable about the jury charge. The crime Trump was convicted of was a specific crime in the same sense that burglary is a specific crime.

Why? Because no one is against the law. If Hunter Biden is convicted of any of his crimes, expect him to dutifully surrender immediately for the imposition of his sentence. Or not. Probably not. All Hunter has to do, no matter what any jury decides, is postpone the imposition of any sentence past November 5th. Win or lose, daddy will pardon him for any and everything. Joe has spent his life insulating his kids from the consequences of their actions - you can’t tell me Hunter just decided to give being a degenerate junkie a shot in his 40s. You rise to the level of creep he is through a lifetime of getting away with it - why not one more time for the family’s bagman? After the election, no matter which way it goes, Joe Biden has absolutely nothing to lose. He will never again face voters, so if you thought he was implementing an unpopular agenda when he still had no more shot of accountability left, wait to you see how unhinged he is with every guardrail removed. Either in a second term (God forbid) or a lame duck period, all the favors he still owes will be settled, the only difference will be the timeframe over which it occurs. More than that, you know the stories of democrats who came to Washington people of relatively modest means, only to become fabulously wealthy over their tenure by picking stocks with an accuracy only an actual wizard could muster - looking at you, Nancy. Remember, no one is above the law. I mean, unless you write the laws and you’re a democrat, then it’s game on. But Trump, he should accept the will of the jury, regardless of how laws were created and changed to target just him, or how many precedents were set on fire by the people who screamed about how Donald Trump is a threat to democracy because he upset “norms!” That’s the thing about democrats, they never have to explain what they’re doing or claiming because they only ever speak to each other. Joe is never questioned about his endless series of lies because there isn’t anyone with a press credential who isn’t firmly on the left who’d ever get in the same zip code as a sit-down interview with the guy. So, in essence, democrats aren’t really above the law as much as they don’t apply it to themselves. They’ve created a separate world for themselves in which the law as we know it does not exist.
