Also, morning coffee at home or in town with neighbours aside, Burgum insinuated that North Dakotan farmers are too stupid or ignorant to understand what "guilty of 34 counts of falsification of business records" means. As somebody who grew up on a small farm, that's the real insult to me. Having your bookkeeping and other paperwork in order at all times was and is an important part of running a farm, where I'm from. It could literally make the difference between _still_ having a farm next year or not.

Actually, I worked at a cafe in Wishek, North Dakota. I opened the door at 5 am each morning for a group of farmers who met there every day to have coffee and be social. Do you not think farmers enjoy having friends and social lives outside of the daily grind? I didn't like the political leaning of most everyone there, but they were still good, decent, hard-working people. (I was a California native that went to college in ND. It was a culture shock that I think more kids should experience.)

I wish I was free to vote for my favored slimely politician. I'm an independent, but I haven't voted since 2020. My county released all the voting info to some crazy conspiracy group and paid them a lot of money to research Trump's 30 % margin of victory. We had paper ballots, and these weirdos came to my door to say they knew when, where, and how I voted. And then tried to get me to say my vote was changed. While waiting to vote in 2022, there were threats about taking out Democrat voters. Since our votes aren't secret, I decided to leave. I have voted for 60 years, and now I can't.

My dad was a farmer. He never went into town for coffee. He was up every day at first light. The first thing he did was to take the tractors out of the barn and fill the gas tanks. Then he hooked up the equipment (plows, disc,etc.) and had everything ready so when the ranch hands arrived everything was set to go. Probably more information than anyone wanted to know but believe me, my dad never went into town for coffee.

Farmer here. I don’t know any farmers that drive to town and get coffee at five in the morning. Also, most farmers aren’t alone all day long. Funny how the guy trying to use farmers to make a point about how his enemies are out of touch uses a caricature of people he’s dramatically out of touch with.

Most of the people on one side of my family are farmers. When they get up in the morning, all they think about is trying to see how much work they can get done until the weather gets just too hot, OR the ones who now have tractors with AC, just want to get work done because their entire financial life depends on how much they can farm. NOW they DO go to town for coffee every morning for coffee when they’re finally convinced to retire. All they care about is shooting the breeze and often just playing dominoes. And they don’t drive 10 miles either!

I'm a 63-year-old nurse working at a large urban hospital but I grew up in a small town just east of a large city in the US Midwest. I had an uncle on my father's side of the family who was a small farmer and I guarantee you he always had a coffee maker in the kitchen 😁

Well actually, I voted against Trump in 2016, 2020 and will do so again in 2024. Biden has one major flaw that would be disqualifying if there were an alternative. He's saddled us with Merrick Garland - the worst AG in my memory. Why he doesn't see the benefit of an AG who actually persues criminals instead of repeatedly declinely to prosecute, refusing to investigate and obstructing justice since he was apponted, is beyond me. He's a threat to democracy second only to Trump.
