Honestly my interpretation was he was always a golden egg and internally looking for a way home. Why he obsessively looked for the beans to the castle and didn't consider san ricardo his home. Maybe also why the baby goose was so fond of him. He was still a horrible person though.

I also hate the idea of declawing a cat. For the longest time I thought it's just about removing the whole "nails" only, which would hurt too but it would heal later in case of humans - but they literally remove a part of the "fingers", it's amputation. I guess some people think it's fine enough bc cats are known for not showing any signs of pain - so they think declawed cats don't feel any discomfort.

I agree, but I have a cat and when she tried to just scratch herself between her shoulder blades(equivalent to scratching an itch for humans), she would tear up her skin and hair. So we had to for her own health only declaw her back claws. She still has her front claws. But I am not kidding when she would scratch herself with her back claws, she would scratch with her claws and tear up chunks of skin and hair, which in turn got bloody and need a cone so she wouldn’t scratch the healing scab.

Okay, you NEED to do Last Wish after this! It's kind of ironic, because you actually don't need to have seen this to understand Last Wish-all this movie really does for that is introduce Kitty Softpaws (who is a lot more interesting and charming in the second, by the way). This movie was mid. Last Wish is peak. I am now pent with anticipation until you watch the sequel. It's genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time. And if you're going to continue watching full movies, may I recommend Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves if you haven't seen it already? It's another one of my personal favorites and is a really, really fun adventure.

While not necessary aside from introducing Kitty Soft Paws as a character. I think it gives context as to how and why Puss became "The Legend". Which is a major component of his conflict in The Last Wish. You probably already know, but for everyone else: Puss in Boots 1 takes place in an undetermined time before any of the Shrek movies. Then these movies take place, and The Last Wish at the end of the chronology, Puss leaves Shrek to go back to his own adventures, again, in an undetermined amount of time. To make it easier, basically the Puss in Boots movies make the bread of the Shrek IP sandwich, being the first and the last movies chronologically.

To answer your question about the “dead bird” he presents to his mom at the end: Cats that respect their owners and are allowed outside will go hunting and bring back an almost dead animal as a gift of respect. They don’t kill it cause they want you to do it and eat it like they would. We usually would just pet patches and put the animals in a lilac bush so they could be reborn into the flowers. He eventually just killed them and left the bodies for us. We’d sometimes get 2 or 3 a day.
