Resveratrol. The mysterious molecule, popularized by doctor David Sinclair.
A controversial supplement that works differently in your body with different doses.
And now, shockingly, works differently in different circumstances, and in different times.
If you exercise regularly, did you know resveratrol can take away from you the benefits of your exercise? It happened to many in our longevity community.
How could a supplement keep your body young all the while sabotaging your exercise?
You’ll understand why most people take resveratrol at the wrong time. And what to do about it?
We’ll discover another shocking study showing resveratrol increases oxidation levels. That’s quite a mystery which we’ll investigate.
We’ll use David Sinclair's discoveries. And, to expose how this mysterious molecule works, we’ll travel the journey into antioxidants and their impact on your longevity. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and much more. Should you take them?
More today:
What’s the best time to take resveratrol during the day: Should you take it in the morning, like Dr David Sinclair, or in the evening?
What’s the WORST time to take resveratrol?
Should you take resveratrol every day?
Be ready for some serious myth-busting.
By the end of this investigation, you’ll have life-changing insights into how our DNA works, what exercise does to your DNA, where resveratrol fits here, and the perfect timing of resveratrol…
for a lifelong habit of longevity and health, as easy as popping a pill.

If i could ask One Question please, what about EGCG it turns on sirt 1,2,3,4,5,6, does it also have the negative effects as Resveratrol on our body, and i live in Portugal here we get our Olive oil literally straight from the press no processing, it also activates sirt 1,2,3,4,5,6 so would it also have a negative effect as Resveratrol. Thank in advance.

KZbin currently isn't viable alone. I got 300GBP last month while I need to pay for my wife's stroke rehabilitation, living costs, etc. Which means I will have to close down this channel at some point. I don't have scruples about recommending products that I like. And It's the App is the first and only in the year that I ever told you about... despite receiving 100+ offers from supplement companies, which I rejected (despite being in a dire financial situation, by the way). I rejected it because I haven't tested and used it myself.

Taking Resveratrol "after" exercise. is not a specific enough guideline. To me a time interval is necessary, as you don't want to introduce the anti-oxidant too soon after exercise for the same reasons you shouldn't be taking it before exercise. So a more definitive timing is necessary.

From my understanding avoid taking resveratrol when before having an exercise. Because it will defeat our own body producing natural antioxidants or avoids mitohormesis. Best way to take resveratrol(low dose 250mg) is after eating to take advantage of resveratrol silences aging genes every other day.

6/29/23... I had my mum taking NMN three months ago with Resvesatrol. Today, she was so excited to report that she haven't felt this good in a long time. BTW, she's 82 years old. She normally wakes up feeling tire and groggy after coffee and small breakfast. But today she felt fully awake and full of energy. She walked 1 mile to the local swimming pool and didn't feel tire at all. Walked back home and did some outdoor exercise. Some sunning and still felt good after all that. She said she felt like a younger version of herself. I was pleasantly surprised and happy. I couldn' believe what I was hearing! Was it the NMN and Res? Don' know for sure but I want to believe it. BTW, she takes NMN and Resversatrol around 9pm every nite before bed. I do the same. I noticed that taken before bed seem to work best. We started buying NMN from Probase Nutrition. It was good pure NMN. Now I switched to Do Not Age. I noticed that Do Not Age's NMN is more powdery in texture than Probase. Both have similar taste.

Excellent video. My wife (47) and I (51) have been taking Resveracel from Thorne daily in the morning. Overall fairly low dose of Resveratrol. We are very lean, do sports daily and I do intermitten fasting (16/8). Based on this we will wind down the daily use of Resveracal/Resveratrol. So likely take it from time to time on less healthy days (the cruise example you gave) and then in the evening only. We will keep it in mind for our older age to potentially increase then again, as for now our daily sports (cardio/strength alternation) is probably enough stress on our body/cells. So thanks for the video: makes our health routines hopefully even better AND it saves us money as well. 😊

The practical take away for me was taking my antioxidants after exercise, instead of first thing in the morning. And the reason makes sense. The benefit of exercise is the breakdown of muscle through oxidation. We don't want to inhibit that process. I like how Rimon combines the science with practice.@@derekl190

However my partner is younger and healthy and I’m trying to help him make sense of the subject. Your analysis has been extremely helpful in helping me to understand often highly contradictory data. Your statement that it’s not the data that counts as much as the interpretation of the data has been a wake-up call for me. Thanks for your astute analysis and your highly logical and organized presentation. I read many papers and this approach is helping me sort the enormous amount of information I’m trying to process. I wonder is there anytime I should take a super low dose to help spark the daily dose of nmn like Sinclair? Although he’s taking a large dose… but he doesn’t workout very much. I’m definitely to cut back on resveratrol and I’m going to stay tuned to your next report. Lately I’ve been putting a dose of ginseng in my mouth along with nmn.

Hi there, super low dose = red wine. Half a glass is enough. Resveratrol doesn't spark NMN. If anything, your body may consume more NMN on resveratrol, but res works fine alone too. As you noticed, I'm a big fan of low dose (50-100mg) unless targeting dangerous cells in hit-and-run. Sounds good with the ginseng.

Thank you very much Rimon! I wanted to ask you a question, you who know so much and have investigated the matter, to see if you can help me think of something. There is a 2019 study that showed that resveratrol is capable of converting senescent cells in young cells that reproduce again. I mean, in a way, it's the opposite of a senolytic. The problem is that I was taking quercetin and resveratrol together. Now, after watching your videos and thinking a bit, I take quercetin (250 mg phytosome) one day, to induce apoptosis in senescent cells, and another day resveratrol to improve those that quercetin couldn't kill (say, every other day). Theoretically it should work, what do you think? (I'm 40 years old. I also take nmn, spermidine, d-ribose, and metformin, except on weekends that I do a stationary bike and a little weights).

That equates to a different antioxidant for approx 3 days per week. I am wondering if all antioxidants that are taken externally have the same negative impact as resveratrol can have. I am 'hoping' that the cycling and varied antioxidants will lessen the negatives and allow for positive impacts. Or else may be I should ditch all antioxidants and focus on Sirt6 Activation. I exercise well 3/4 times per week. Any comments welcome.

What I wonder is, how long after exercise or fasting would it be good to take Resveratrol so as to not negate the positives of what we just did. Another way of thinking about it is: how long do the benefits of exercise that are affected by Resveratrol last?
@WellnessMessiah
@WellnessMessiah 7 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late response. In my opinion, an hour later is fine. Remember taking with food will delay absorption by 1-2 hours too. So 1-2 hour after exercise plus 1-2 of delayed absorption, is plenty for your body to realize it needs to make you stronger after the exercise.

@WellnessMessiah

Good question. I believe not based on other antioxidant studies. I think 1 hour after exercise is fine. You already exposed your body to oxidative stress, and resveratrol with its anti-oxidant capacity may help even in recovery. The important thing - is don't have it in your muscles when you exercise. Let the exercise apply its maximum stress. The DNA will respond regardless of what happens later. Also, cycling is another backup - taking time off.

Hi Lolly, I can't be sure. In food, the antioxidant property may be too low to have an effect. Both also activate the natural antioxidant system. You can be safe by taking it afterwards.

Second, after reading your list, it’s a lot for me to absorb since I am not in a habit of taking supplements also disappointed there is not NMN. I would like to question the logic of taking resveratrol after the workout. As opposed to 24 hours before. Following exercise, our bodies go through a repair (and strengthening) process, particularly during rest at night. As the studies suggest wouldn’t taking resveratrol blunt this process/benefits if taken afterwards? Might it not be better to take 24 hours before so most is out of the system by the time we exercise. Would be interested in your thoughts? Great work with the channel.
@WellnessMessiah
@WellnessMessiah Жыл бұрын
Hi Cameron, it's the stress that matters and it takes place during exercise. After is the recovery. I believe vitamin C helps in recovery (antioxidant + repairing collagen damage). One thing for sure - exercising with antioxidants in your muscles will 100% offset benefits. Either avoid them completely or take afterwards. I avoid them most of the time besides low dose resveratrol.

Thank you Rimon. If one searches the Vitamin C topic it gets more confusing: “Placebo-controlled research, some of it double-blind, has shown that taking 400 to 3,000 mg of vitamin C per day for several days before and after intense exercise may reduce pain and speed up muscle strength recovery.” It’s on human and not mice and could easily interpreted as overall +ev for the human.
