After years of watching this channel; going back to when only Naude and Tony were patrolling the beach with their big orange net, the staff has now expanded while maintaining the initial team attributes of compassion and care shown for each and every seal caught and released. Well done guys, highly admirable. Safe seal wrestling!

@Сергей Сергей They cut the string but it's stuck in the pus. It's best to let it fall off on it's own as he goes to the water. They see it falling off & they'll get it, they just didn't show them picking it up. The rescuers never leave anything behind that they cut off the seals 🦭 they take all the string, rubbish, etc back w/them. No worries

That last one when released stumbled a couple of times, looked back like it was thinking things over, realizes that the thing in it's neck doesn't hurt that much anymore and those two-legged things are not chasing it anymore, then relaxed a bit and was in no hurry getting away.

Great job rescuing those seals! I just want to add how wonderfully these videos are cut and edited- multiple people with go pros, different angles, and so many seal chases and catches! The videos are seamless, full of action and insight with fun and interesting details. Never for a minute do we forget that this is about rescuing the seals and raising awareness of what we our garbage is doing to the animals we share the earth with. After several years, these videos could have evolved about the team, their big cool personalities, etc, but the focus is always on the seals. Even so, I’ve grown to love the whole team and appreciate the peeks at their humor, individual personalities, skills, approaches, and passion for helping. ❤

@mnicholl93 Жыл бұрын
Wally, great catch; you caught that pup like you were scoring a try 😍 Kat, as usual, spotted a seal that REALLY needed help and did a great job catching it. Heartbreaking the stunned pause as Wally talked to the pup telling it "it's not that bad" as they removed the net, only to see the wound ....from such a tiny piece of line 😭 Yet, even when Tony hooked the line out of that nasty wound, the pup didn't even flinch...anyone who has ever tried to remove a splinter from their own, or someone else's, finger knows that had that been a person rather than a seal, there would have been screaming, whaling and cursing, not to mention fighting to get away from the tweezers that had touched the splinter!!! Seals, and pretty much all animals, put humans to shame when it comes to coping with injuries but that doesn't mean that it's okay to keep causing them through not thinking of the consequences of dropping litter, or walking past litter that you could pick up and dispose of properly. Yes, a lot of the entanglements that the OCN Team deal with come from the fishing industry but 80% of ocean rubbish comes from rivers, a lot of the time, from places far from the sea. If we can stop the rubbish from finding it's way into streams and rivers, we can stop it ever reaching the sea!!! Next time you notice rubbish, and think, or say, how awful it is that people have dropped it, I hope you'll remember this and pick up at least 1 piece instead of just walking away and shaking your head 🙏🏻 If we can remove the litter long before it has a chance to get into water courses, think of all the animals along the route from stream, to river and eventually to the sea, to the great floating garbage patches, and all the submerged rubbish not so easy to see, that will be saved from having their environment polluted by our waste!
Thank God you could save that bull who was so effected by that line! Now he can go on to sire beautiful pups! 👍💕🦭

I like your work there. Based on your videos, most of the issues are caused by commercial fishing gear, not random plastic. Proper waste disposal is ideal but not practiced in many countries due to cost. I have no solution to the commercial fishing gear. Fishing provides high quality protein to so many in the world who would otherwise not get it. It is a net benefit even though there are issues.
