Redguards have always been interesting to me for the simple fact that they are a people with African physiology with middle eastern/indian culture. I don't know why people are arguing they aren't human though. I understand there is a book in Morriwind that says their anatomy is different, but there is also a book in Skyrim that is about interspecies mating between man and mer. In this book, redguards are definitely listed as a race of man.

Conspiracy time: Redguards are the dominant human race of the previous Kalpa who escaped the destruction of their timeline over the ocean (Water often being said to flow like time in TES lore) into the next Kalpa, the current Tamriel. Like the Hist they are refugees of another Kalpa. I like to think so anyway.

Skyrim Build: The Dragon Alchemist : Race: Redguard Class: Elemental Mage Occupation: Alchemist Name: Age :24-25 Backstory: Born to forebear merchants the young scholar was born in Hammerfell, in a city hidden in the sands. Growing up he was an astute analyst with a thirst for knowledge. Upon turning 18 instead of joining one of the knightly orders of Hammerfell like his father and older brother (although being a skilled fighter) He got a job at the town’s alchemy shop, his favorite place in the city. He spent 5 years working there. Learning to make all sorts of concoctions. When he wasn’t working he’d spend his spare time at the local library, studying in-depth a plethora of things about Tamriel, Alchemy and Arcane Arts, it was among those tomes that he discovered he had a natural affinity for magic. Although the library had a lack of books that taught actual spells he taught himself from what they had. Learning the basics of magicka control and manipulation. One day in mid-year over the summer before his 25th birth year he heard from some travelers passing through the city that the College of Winterhold would be accepting new students until the 1st of Hearthfire. Realizing that the college hasn’t excepted new students in years he decided to venture off to Skyrim to test his luck at admission. After spending the summer savings his earnings and getting his family’s blessings, he packs up and On the 10th of last seed, after receiving his family’s blessings. he leaves his city. It took him 5 day to reach the borders of Hammerfell and Skyrim. Battle style: Offensive Spells: Fire & Ice spells, Dragon Shouts, & Destruction Scrolls Defensive Spells : Alteration flesh spells, wards, & An Element Cloak (wind) Summoning spells: Dragons, Arvak , Bound Swords (poisoned) , & Conjuration Scrolls Ranged Weapons: Crossbow (poisoned) Restoration spells and potions to heal and make barriers Uses Illusion techniques to conceal his presence. Often Strategic when striking After delivering the frost salts to Arcardia in Whiterun, she shares with him a few alchemic tips that she picked up on from her years of practicing in Skyrim. From their conversation he becomes intrigued by the various ingredients that he could potentially find around the country. Realizing he would also need a way to make money, It was then that he officially decided to take up Alchemy as his vocation. During his travels he discovers a large variety recipes for poisons and potions, some he uses in battle, others he sell. List of recipes he uses for battle: Poisons - Deathbell + bleeding crowns (poison weak) Deathbell + imp stool (Damage health) Deathbell + Salt / River Betty ( Slow) Orange dart wing + mora tapinelle (lingering) Creep cluster +salt ( weak to magic) Canis root + swamp pod ( paralysis) Potions - Nirnroot + lavender (resist magic) Blue flower + wheat ( + heath) Nightshade + bee hive (fortify Des.) Mora tapinelle + red flower (+magic) Bear claw + hanging mass (fortify one-hand) After finding out he is Dragonborn, he takes up the name “The Dragon Alchemist “ and his adventure unfolds Game Play and Progression: Often takes the moral high road usually helping the people of Skyrim He is naturally Athletic so every few levels add some points to stamina. Being a native of Hammerfell’s warrior culture he is well trained with one-handed melee weapons, as he travels Skyrim he comes across the bound sword spell book, which he uses to summon poisonous magic swords for battle. He keeps an iron dagger on him that he uses for miscellaneous reasons like to collect alchemic ingredients or to use as a quick poison coated blade in combination with Elemental fury when he runs out of magicka Occasionally uses crossbow once he joins the Dawn-guard and he helps with some of the upgrades to it. He develops a dislike of Necromancy and the “Dark Arts” making it his duty to put an end to practicers when he comes across them. After the bounty quest from the jarl he starts to use his skills to hunt more bounty’s Throughout his travels he eventually joins the bards college He has a fascination with dwarven ruins and artifacts. Eventually he will build an alchemy tower. Adopts kids He is an astute analysis and has a thirst for knowledge he’s always tryin to learn something. He enchants his ring, amulet, and circlet Wears robes, clothes , gloves and boots and the occasional mage hood or hat Always carry food (fruit, bread, wine ) Travel light You can spam train as long as it makes sense to the roleplay Can travel with followers (other mages with a different combat style are great) Magelight and Clairvoyance used as “tools” for traversing Skyrim Joins Storm cloaks

I really don't understand the resentmnent for Hammerfell as a setting, its had everything! A diverse biome, from lush forests to snow peaked mountains to jungles and both sand and rocky deserts surrounded by a diverse coastline doted with islands and peninsulas? Why does everyone only see the 1/3 of the map and only that? In adition it accepts all cultures and races, unlike Blackmarsh and Valenwood. It has a diverse culture influenced by both High Rock and Cyrodiil. Its not only the land of the Redguards but Orcs as well with Orsinium situated in Hammerfell mountains. It has plenty of locations to explore from old elven ruins that we've only seen in Oblivion so far as well as the Dwemer ruins that we've seen in Skyrim and Morrowind. As well as the ruins of the lost Goblin nations that used to reside there. The creatures that we would see there are also exotic and never before seen in any Elder Scroll game before. It has a precarious political situation with the two main Red Guard factions buding heads to the Empire and the Dominion looming over the province to see who'll get their alegence? And then we have the unique abilities and possibilities only present in that provence like the art of sword singing that turns a piece of the soul in to a weapon, stone and earth magic that can shape the very dunes of the desert to the god damned gunpowder only present in HAmmerfall!! Yes GUNS! Well flintlock guns, riffles and cannons. Also ships and pirates! I mean.. all that is a 100x better then some stinky swamp filled with bug and lizards or a monotome thick forest with a buntch of racist elves ... !?

Casual fans considered them the weakest because they had the least beneficial stats in the Skyrim game. What they don't realize is that their stats are least beneficial because they're not acclimatized to the northern region like Nords, it had nothing to do with their actual power level. Most ES fans will agree that Redguards are the strongest warrior race, if there was an Elder Scrolls game where you get to play as a sword singer I think the perspective on Redguards would change drastically, the ability to use sound as a form of magic is something only Shout masters, Psijic Order and Dwemer are able to replicate.

For me there is one Elder Scrolls game: the online version. Nothing against the others; I've never been able to enjoy single player games in all. For players in the States, Redguards in that game reflect the views of white people toward African Americans. Although you can create positively stunning female Redguard characters with musculature sufficient to make them believable as warriors, most players choose to give them white skin, and will heap abuse, both subtle and gross, on dark characters who look west African. Oddly it's less so with male Redguard characters.

BlueAssassin 94 it didn't break away, ruthless imperial governors causes rebellions in sentinel and Stros M'Kai, Septim then negotiated peace with the rebellions and removed the cruel governors, they didn't break off. They were then part of the empire until after the great war. They weren't independent

I think the next Elder Scrolls game should establish that both Hammerfell and Skyrim succesfully repelled the Empire and Aldmeri Dominion and started there own Alliance based out of the city that stradles their borders (forget the name but the Redguard and Nords share the city)

I actually love Hammerfell and the Redguards... I think a massive map including part or whole of Cyrodiil, Valenwood, Elsweyr, and High Rock would be an awesome setting for a new Elder Scroll game. Could see epic fights with titan size creatures in the rolling sand dunes and implementing new forms of travel like Sand Gliders, boat like structures that use winds to skim the desert floor. Or giant airships that the most rich and famous use to travel while the lower class make grueling march on horseback or foot. Ah well, I can dream

oddzxc simple cause they are the black avatar in the game and would be called something else if none black playersdont like the fact that dark skin character are in the game. Plus the elder scrolls community know them as the best warriors so that also make those skin haters more hateful.

A shame Redguards aren't more popular, because Bethesda definitely loves them. If you give them a chance, and dive deep into their lore, you'll find a wide diversity of cultures, architecture, and religion. As far as Elder Scrolls races go, they're one of the most well established and explained. Which isn't hard to see why. They technically have 3 different games (5 counting ESO and Arena) with lore to take from; being Daggerfall, Shadowkey, and a game literally called Redguard.

From what I heard the names "redguard" and "Hammerfell" are two distortions. The first of Ra'gada, the name of the warrior waves and the other of Volenfell, named after the hammer Volendrung. But otherwise good stuff. ^ ^

With the modern push towards everything being woke, I'm really surprised that a shitty Elder Scrolls 6: Hammerfell hasn't been rushed out where all the plot points are about how awesome the Redguards are, solely because of their skin color, and how the Nords and Bretons and Altmer are all part of a vast conspiracy to keep them down, by either sending them back to Yokuda by force OR by preventing them from returning to their homeland (possibly both at once, since the Kangs aren't big on consistency when it comes to their demands). My bitterness on this topic aside, the images in this video are gorgeous, and if Bethesda could make a game revolving around these guys and NOT turn it into a racial strawman, but just show them being cool because they're cool, I'd be tremendously pleased.
