It was actually the Tsaesci, the vampiric snake-men, who ate the dragons. "Ka Po' Tun is the "Tiger-Dragon's Empire". The cat-folk here are ruled by the divine Tosh Raka, the Tiger-Dragon. They are now a very great empire, stronger than Tsaesci (though not at sea). After the Serpent-Folk ate all the Men, they tried to eat all the Dragons. They managed to enslave the Red Dragons, but the black ones had fled to (then) Po Tun. A great war was raged, which left both the cats and the snakes weak, and the Dragons all dead. Since that time the cat-folk have tried to become the Dragons. Tosh Raka is the first to succeed. He is the largest Dragon in the world, orange and black, and he has very many new ideas." -Mysterious Akavir

Not just the Thu'um, but the actual language, like Paarthurnax speaks. It's an integral part of who they are as a race, and it proves that they are more than just the beasts that they're portrayed as throughout much of the Elder Scrolls series. Also, I took the time to learn the language, and I want to feel validated for that. There's so much more to dragons than you described here. They're my favorite part of the Elder Scrolls universe, not because they're dragons, but because their philosophy, mannerisms, and culture so perfectly reflect what they are intended to represent. A Dovah is the very essence of power. Still, this is a good video, and it covers the history of the Dov better than most summaries I've seen before. This channel never disappoints!

PSA: wyverns only exist from folklore from England, Scotland and Ireland. In most other European countries, including Norse which Skyrim is based on, there is no distinction between Wyverns and Dragons and they are all just dragons. Which means by those standards 2 legs=dragon.

Daniel Rogers also, dragons only existed in french & welsh folklore, and in other countries, there where no dragons, they where either called something else, or just a monstrous beast, and seeing that England stole this, it's ok for others to call things what they want. I think the people that attempted to eat the dragons on Akavir were the snake people, since they assumed parts of what they consumed. Further on that Akavir basically killed all the red dragons minus a few, which is nice? I also don't believe Alduin was "meant" to eat the world, as that's effectively fan fiction in the lines of kalpas which just aren't factual. It's more likely Alduin is the only dragon WITH the capability to do so and was dubbed the Worldeater. And for The Last Dragonborn (though there's quite the possibility it's nowhere near the last) not absorbing Alduin's soul it's likely that either Alduin is being punished by Akatosh or the soul was simply unable to be absorbed as Alduin is different from all others.

SombreSpirits alduin being the end of all time can't truly be destroyed because that would prevent time from the current kalpa/kulpa cycle from ending, this is my own theory, but much like daedra I assume alduin can be slain and his physical form killed but his spirit is cast into the void to manifest and eventually return, the dragon born only exists because alduin strayed from his purpose of devouring the world and ending time and chose instead to try and rule over the races of man and mer, and I'm pretty sure that's where the dragon born come in with their destiny of defeating alduin and a new dragon born will be granted by akatosh until alduin returns to his path and eats the world bringing the current kalpa/kulpa cycle to an end and allowing the next world to be born
@Sion40006 жыл бұрын
I don't think the dragons you absorb are truly destroyed in a spiritual sense. All dragons including Alduin and the dragonborn are fragments of Aka's soul who have been separated. By absorbing dragon souls dragonborn are really just recombining these souls. Who knows what happens when a dragonborn dies and goes through the dream weave. @brosephnoonan2237 жыл бұрын
DrunkTigerGrill Mighty Talos did not become emperor in a day, though I can forgive you for thinking that he did, he's a pretty great guy. Its important to note that the Akavir hunted Dragons alongside Tiber Septim, who was Dragon Born, but it never specially says *when.* What's likely is that our ancient nord ancestors fought dragons, broke free of their chains but only a few were dragon born, so the beasts were not utterly slain. The ritual Alduin performs to ressurect dragons likely restores flesh to the bones that still bare the soul. Its more akin to waking a slumbering beast than raising the dead. I'm guessing with enough time a Dragon can restore itself naturally, but Alduin has it within him to instantly refresh a dragon. What likely happened was the dragons were "beaten" but to total extinction. They may have come back again, and Tiber Septim, a dragon born, rode with the Akavir to purge the land of dragons. Keep in mind that supposedly dragons were a problem everywhere, so it could be as likely that Tiber united Tamriel by slaying dragons. Once word got around that there's this guy running around building an empire to fight dragons, people started signing up. Except for the filthy elves and argonians, the former think they're people and the latter dont let people into their home yet will HAPPILY immigrate to other people's homes and steal their jobs.
@jacobfreeman54446 жыл бұрын
Dragons were not extinct. Check some of the older games and lore materials. There were indeed dragons still aroumd. They just didn't want anything to do with mortals anymore so generally hid. I am not even sure dragons need to eat so it is very possible they could hid out near indefinitely. And Tiber Septim himself made a deal with one. So let us assume dragons had a drastic population decrease and afterwards just didn't care to interact anymore. The dragons you see in skyrim are generally resurrected members of the species. Or old ones who want to test your might for themselves. Dragons are a very might makes right kinda people.
