The father of Tate Myre, one of the four students killed during the Oxford School shooting, is opening up about the loss his family has experienced. Tate Myre, 16, has been described as a leader, an awesome friend and a great brother. His life was cut short when police say a 15-year-old gunman opened fire at the school. Tate Myre’s father is working to ensure his son’s legacy will live on. William “Buck” Myre spoke to Local 4 about the loss and shared how his family is trying to move through the heartbreak to bring good to others.

The grief he expresses is important for everyone to hear... Including those who might be a murderer, so maybe they might choose another action instead of killing. Conversations should be about what we can do, we as in ourselves, not we as in other people.

From their family photos, I think Tate looks the most like his Daddy. I can't even imagine. I'm crying for them from Washington (State)...I had a flash of being in that office while someone is telling me my son or daughter is gone and just the thought of it -- I can't. I'm so sorry for the pain you're all feeling. If the staff there at the news station know of anything that can be done remotely to offer any kind of help or relief, please reply to this comment. Thank you

I have 3 Elementary aged sons (who also play football), and while it’s incredibly heartbreaking that anyone lost their child, this one just really hits home for me. When he stated that his wife said, “that’s my baby!” I can imagine that’ll exactly how I would respond. I listened to the Miller hearing and heard the assistant principal talk about how she knew Tate since he was 3, being a little brother, that came to school with mom to drop off his older brothers. She kept giving him breaths because she thought, ‘I have to save them for his mom!’ I lost it. I never want that to be my baby. None of them. This shouldn’t have been anyone’s baby ever!! This craziness has to stop! 💔

I can't even imagine the pain these families are going through. My youngest is now a junior in high school. He is my baby. Just as the father described his son's mother's pain. I felt that. I pray for every family who has lost a child from something so senseless. I will restrain ... for now... about my thoughts and feelings for the shooter and his parents. They will have their day in court. I trust that justice will be done.

In a lot of these cases the school being able to stop a school shooting let alone prevent one is extremely hard. But in this case Tate’s father is right. The school had so many opportunities that other schools didn’t in preventing this from happening. They had the shooter in their office the day before and that same day and didn’t check his bag or send him home. They had to warn his parents about his suspect behavior and didn’t wait till they arrived to release him. students warned faculty about his social media account that posted his entire plan… so much down to the detail that other students did not go to school that day, YET STILL they let him back in the school. Unbelievable. This is as much their fault as the shooter himself.

I still can't believe this happened. My Mom taught at Kingsbury in the 70s, the private K-8 school that many Oxford High students attend. The Oxford community is good people who embraced my Mom like she'd been there all along. In the winter the kids went skiing on Fridays, I would come along sometimes and try the bunny hill and the bigger kids were so encouraging. Thinking of those kids that could have been these kids breaks my heart.

If you were in school and you're being bullied or if people call you a loser and you don't fit in. Please don't get mad and resort to things like this. The few years that you spend in school is just a small blink in your life. Do the best you can to make it your goal in life to succeed. Maybe to go to college. Get a good job and make something of yourself and prove everyone wrong. But don't do this. You're not going to be remembered for anything other than being a monster

Asking God in Jesus name to wrap his loving arms around the surviving family member's and friends. The school system failed 'Crumbley' they knew he had something going on. And 'Crumbley's' parents apparently knew based on text messages he exchanged with his mom. All I can assume @ this time is maybe the parents were receiving a monthly payment like 'SSI'. And perhaps they thought if he ends up getting treatment for whatever is going on perhaps mentally they could lose that income? Not a medical opinion. Obviously have no way of knowing whether that particular type of income was part of their annual income. I've seen that type of thing go on in life. Where the kid could have been a danger to their family or the public. Stop allowing kids to carry backpacks into the school instead install huge drop box, where they can put their backpacks and lock it during the day. School employee would be responsible for releasing backpacks back to students after school. *Not student volunteer's. Keep school doors locked @ all times. School's know who the kids are that could be a risk to others. The parents of those who sadly lost their lives should have the right to sue the school. Safety First! We are living in perilous times. Sad Story

Mr. Myre, take heart, this isn’t the end, you will see Tate again. The Lord Jesus Christ has promised that he will raise Tate from the dead to everlasting life on the day of judgment and Tate will have a perfect body that will never die for the rest of eternity. We will get to enjoy the entire universe together, forever. So long as we refuse evil, according to what God tells us to do. We must keep the faith that he gives us. The Lord is witness, and His enemies, (the “devil”) will be thrown into an everlasting fire for causing this situation to arise to begin with. May God comfort your family with this promise: ”“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death” or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practise magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulphur. This is the second death.’“ ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21‬:‭4‬-‭8‬ ‭ I’m very very sorry for your loss. May God bless all the families who suffered because of this tragedy.
