Please allow me to pitch in my two cents. I’m 67 y.o. and have owned many vehicles in my time. I now own three trucks to date. I have had good service out of all three. Bottom line one of these is a 2021 Power-boost Lariat 501a All three of these trucks are great trucks for what they are designed to be used for. We have two hybrid vehicle’s and we greatly appreciate them. The powerboost is a pleasure to drive and use. This is my cross country vehicle now that I’m retired.

I have a 2022 powerboost platinum FX4 with 9k miles. The dealer had to do a software update manually because the gauge cluster went dark. An hour later it was fixed. My first long distance driving (summertime) it got 23mpg. The hybrid works way less wintertime. My last trip to IL to PA and back was 21mpg. Cruise set to 72mph. Still great for a large vehicle. Mine is with the 6.5ft box.

I bought a 22 Tundra, had it a year now. I ordered a F150 that came in today. There is a good chance I'll be trading the Tundra! I've lost count, but I believe the Tundra spent 55 days in the shop the first 7 months. It's not the problems that make it bad, the customer service is terrible with Toyota. I doubt I'd ever go back to that brand.

The F150 has been a super reliable truck. And the ecoboost 2nd generation models are great. As they get more electronically dependent there are some little things. Like my battery runs down abit, 2022 f150 tremor. But overall it’s a great truck. I think it’s waiting for the key fob. But it always starts just sometimes it won’t remote start, with the key fob. But it will with the app. There’s just a bunch of technology in it. The blue cruise is awesome

Ultimately, CR suffers from the bias that the overwhelming majority of people with no problems will not report to CR their adequately satisfactory experiences. Typically, only those who have major problems report on their experience. The good reviews for different vehicles come primarily from the consumers who are totally blown away by their vehicle to the point where theyre inspired to say something. It's a new vehicle, minor problems here and there should be expected and are typically easy fixes (and free if under warranty). I think most consumers are smart enough to realize that. CR in the car community is pretty much useless.

If I had the power boost for that long would the battery still be good? For someone who puts a lot of miles on it then I do not see a problem with it.

I had the coolant system leaking issue with the thermostat housing leaking. But that was not specific to the Powerboost. My powerboost has been solid otherwise. My only complaint, which I expected going into it is I don't get the MPG EPA (shocker). I still get better MPG than the 5.0 and 3.5. 2.7 is probably better. So overall still worth the purchase. Toyota had the wastegate issue. All vehicles have issues in some amount.

Also reported with the new TT hybrid tundra - faulty turbo's, software issues, headgaskets, complete brake failure, bottom end bearing failure, random power cuts, shifting issues oh... and you need to pay monthly for the luxury of remote start for your new tundra. The regular tt v6 has 8 more hp than the previous 5.7L and has roughly the same acceleration as the 5.7. the hybrid is about 50 more hp, give or take a couple and is completely useless compared to the powerboost. In my opinion, toyota pulled a fast one on loyal buyers. The f150 powerboost equally equipped to the hybrid tundra gets better eco, has more power, more torque, more towing an actual generator and increased utility. Ford hands down for the hybrid truck game.

@ArmyProperty
@ArmyProperty 10 ай бұрын
CR was implying that the hybrid system (including 7.2Kw 240-volt Pro Power Onboard inverter) runs off a 12v battery. And it doesn't. A 7.2Kw inverter would suck a 12v battery dry in no time at all. As most people know, the 1.5 KwH hybrid battery runs the hybrid powertrain components (generator / motor) and also the Pro Power Onboard system. So when CR says the entire system runs off a 12v battery, it's pretty clear they have no idea when they're talking about.

CR doesn't test the vehicles, it just analyses the results of their consumer survey of car owners. As such, their data is valid and the Powerboost is the least reliable based on the owners who responded to the survey. My powerboost F-150 has had a rear pinion seal go out and had the keyless entry keypad replaced twice, both failures not related to the powerboost drive train but just general F-150 quality failures. My ten speed transmission has been stellar compared to my previous 2019 ten speed transmission. Over 18,000 miles I've averaged 20.5 mpg which is the same as my 2019 3.5 ecoboost F-150 excpet for the last seven months of ownership when the 2019 dropped off to 15 mpg.

Also people think that they have a reliable vehicle then they have lest the 100000 mile on it, so funny when they say I got 40000 miles on my vehicle no problem 😅OK if you plan on having a new $100,000 truck ever couple of years maybe no problems for you, some of us can't afford to buy a new new car ever couple of year's, why doing even have to say this😮

I completely disagree on your description of Consumer Reports. Different engineers & journalists test different products. The automotive folks are separate & ONLY do automotive testing in Connecticut. The toaster testers are in New York. I can’t explain their rationale for the Powerboost, but their decisions are based on their real experiences as well as their readers experiences. I have a new Powerboost & it’s not without issues right off the showroom - Nothing major, just stupid poor quality stuff. I’m hopeful that we will work all of the bugs out soon.

@@cwqrpportable - Truck doesn’t get the claimed mpg, lurches between 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears, sometimes we hear weird noises at highway speeds (sounds like the rear end gears going out), front air dam is jacked up, Platinum shield on tailgate is falling off.

@@cmdrdarwin3682 I hope you get some resolution to your issues. My PB is a 2022 Lariat 502A and I'm super happy with mine; no issues so far after almost 40,000 kms. My mpg is insanely good, both highway and city. I appreciate the fact that good fuel mileage does not fall into your lap with any vehicle; you have to sometimes adjust your driving style. You seemed to be frustrated at your Ram as well. Do you still feel like it is/was a "piece of shit"?

Dead wrong. CR does not test cars. It polls the CR subscribers. For whatever reason PB owners reported most problems. It has nothing to do with CR expertise though.
