Just a note, one of the faiings of the F18 was that with asymmetric loading (dropped one bomb) the F-18 was dangerous in high AOA because one wing would stall before the other resulting in a spin. The Super Hornet cured that and effectively gave the plane better AOA capability. In fact there are videos of a super hornet doing a cobra....

That's Gonky's channel. He was in an exchange program with Malaysia for a while according to some interviews and videos he's posted. He said the kills varied, but overall the Malaysian pilots actually preferred the Hornet to the Flanker. That said, what is possibly the greatest cobra maneuver video of all time features a Su-30MKM.

Yeah he's also very clear the BVR capability of the Sukhoi is more or less equal or better than the Hornet and calls anyone who thinks the Flanker would be dead before the merge , Ignorant (Malaysian hornets are upgraded to superhornet levels of avionics) His commentary really suggested the Flanker was very capable against the Hornet, though he wouldn't say outright who won more, I think the commentary really said more than the video where the Malay SU pilot made several basic mistakes. Great video from Gonky though and he very much relays how much respect he had for the Malaysian SU pilots and the capability of that Aircraft. I also want to point out he says the F18s and Sukhois are very separate teams based in different parts of Malaysia.. im not sure if there are many or *any* pilots who flew both.

I think for the cobra maneuver when you were testing out its abilities in the other videos about a week or so ago, i think that you were using it to early, in my opinion i think the cobra isnt a first turn type of move but an ace up your sleeve that you pull when the enemy is in the most vulnerable position or least expecting it

Can't. This mod overwrites the Legacy. Per the ReadMe file, "Requirements: DCS World, MUST!! have a Legal copy of the F/A-18C Hornet by Eagle Dynamics. In this folder, you will find an installation package that overwrites the ED F/A-18C. You will lose the legacy Hornet with the mod installed, but you will gain the E/F and G models. "

@@tdilyr8133 - It's actually a Russian-based game, and the aircraft are represented pretty well. My guess is that more Americans play it since it's simply a much larger country (population wise) and there are more people wealthy enough to buy the advanced PC setups needed to play DCS. I know it's silly in a sim, but most people I know want to "represent" their home country's aircraft when playing. Just look at how excited people get when GS flies a plane in their country's colors on here. Then again, I'm American and may favorite aircraft is the Mirage 2000 lol.

The only problem with the Gripen in DCS is the modeling. I assume it's mostly based on the M2K being that they're both delta wings, but the Gripen excels like crazy in electronic warfare, sensors and how it employs the Meteor missile. That is the type of classified stuff that can't make it into the sim but, in real life, is deadly. The Gripen was almost purpose-built to fight the Flanker, being that its northern European customers are in close proximity to Russia. It's no coincidence that Brazil is buying 100+ Gripen-Es when their biggest aerial threat is Venezuela's Su-30MK2s.

The only problem with the F-35 is that it uses its electronic prowess to win an engagement rather than kinematics and maneuverability. Since pretty much everything is classified to the hilt on that plane, there's no way you'd get a representation of what it could really do. The sim pilot would have to fly it like an F-16 when that's not how it's supposed to be flown.

I recommend discouraging use of the paddle switch in the Hornet. I can hear and see it in most of your videos. Both Jello and Gonky said it’s not standard practice to pull it except in a true emergency. The reality is that people are pulling it for the entirety of fights in the Hornet, giving them the ability to go to 9.5-10 Gs. This is only possible because system damage isn’t modeled for the Hornet. It’s exactly the same as the Tomcat flaps before they put a G and speed limit on the flaps before they broke. Pulling too many Gs in the Tomcat can even break the gyro, which affects radar gunsight and the velocity vector. Given that no damage is modeled, it’s essentially an exploit. The plane was designed for 7.5ish Gs and that’s how the pilots train and still win. Pulling the paddle isn’t required for victory.

No they wont. They put out F-14 B and A-GR135 late production. We will have A-GR135 early production and IRIAF version later. The D is not gonna happen due to lack of documentation. Don't even talk about fantasy version which never flew.

I know Ace Combat 7 is not the most realistice flight sim, but just making a topic about an F-14 in the Ace 7 Reddit gets lots of negative attention, my last post, despite getting a good ammount of likes was still put super low from dislikes, and I am given stupid reasons why the F-14 shouldnt get things in the Ace 7 game. The dumbest reason why the F-14 shouldn't get stuff in Ace 7 I have been told. *Iran is the only country that uses F-14 Tomcats now in real life "This is besides the fact no country in real life exists in the Ace Combat universe and everyone is using brand new F-14s Ds."
