I like how simple this tutorial is. I personally am also a fan of "being able to do it" more than "doing it the best way", as a guideline for teaching, like you have presented it here. But I think you need a balance, because the simpler a concept becomes, the farther it strays from being the best way to do it in practice. At first I liked the simplicity of your method, but I think the lack of different techniques actually make this method slower than layer by layer, and requires a decent amount of relearning later on (such as ignoring RUR' inserts, and ignoring white-on-top for the corner). For ease of learning I think you did a really great job, but I don't really agree with the details of the method being taught.

J Perm Thanks. I set the balance so that people could at least use F2L to complete a solve. This video is already 8 minutes long, so I didn’t want to start adding on more advanced stuff. If you watch my next video “Essentials,” then you can get some of the more intermediate techniques! A lot of people ignore that video, which is unfortunate for them.

But when I have 3 out of 4 solved there is no slot that isnt, as the other side of the unsolved slot will move when I use the unsolved slot. Please help. Thanks. ❤️

If you're gonna get fast, you need to learn that "R prime L prime foolishness". That's called notation, and it's necessary for learning algorithms. Otherwise it'll be like learning guitar from someone telling you "put your first finger on the 3rd fret, your second finger on the 5th fret..(etc)...Congrats, now you know one note, 57 more to go!"

@@oscarwalls3770 Every time you're about to twist one of the sides up or down, look and see-did that twist move one of my completed pairs? If yes, then go back (twist that side back to what it was). Adjust the lower two layers of the cube at the same time (i.e. a d-move) and try again. If no, then you're good to go. The point is to only do moves that don't disrupt the pairs you've already completed. There will always be an empty slot you can use.

What do you do when you are down to your last pair and you can't move them around? great video by the way
@MrMouthBeats
@MrMouthBeats 4 жыл бұрын
This is a beginner's f2l, i know because i use the same method. You actually have to take the time to look and process and execute the moves and sometimes all blocks could have the color yellow. And the only way to remove the yellow is when you do a random ''Lateral Algorithm''. It's still a good method though but i wouldn't recommend it. Nice video tho! :)

When you come to do the last F2L pair, can you show how that works as you have no "open slot" to work with..
@spindoctor6385
@spindoctor6385 4 жыл бұрын
Ah never mind... i was not orienting the pieces properly.. The last pair has very limited options though, So far i have added about 20 seconds to my 2 minute average just using total beginner layer by layer method.. The hardest bit is the recognition, I will keep practising.
@ChrisBandyJazz
@ChrisBandyJazz 4 жыл бұрын
@@spindoctor6385 Keep up the good work! It is a learning experience! Most people start F2L when they're averaging 40-60 seconds. But if you can do it now, go for it! If you keep practicing, I'm almost certain you'll eventually get way faster than you ever could with LBL
