It's pretty crazy that 22-23 is considered "old" in esports. I don't think age is the problem, it's keeping the interest in the game and the work ethic. It's true that your reaction times start to decline in your mid 20s, but the decline is not significant enough to stop you from being competitive if you continue to put in the hours. Goalkeepers in football play into their 30s without any issues and their role is heavily reliant on reflex saves.

What I've noticed is that most people don't understand that despite the fact that Nemesis overall kind of overperformed this worlds (based on what everyone expected anyways), he is STILL FNC's weakest link. The flame and personal attacks towards him (or any other pro for that matter) are completely uncalled for; however, if Fnatic are going to make a roster change in an effort to improve the team, there is no doubt in my mind that Nemesis is the first to go.

Whether he ends up being good or not isn’t the issue, the issue is that we KNOW Nemesis isn’t the answer so we’re going to have to gamble on someone else. I’m sure there’s plenty of other mids in the national leagues that they could try out, but by far the worse thing they can do is to do nothing at all.

It's crazy how many prominent people in the LoL community year in and year out pretend that EU is lucky trash. I swear for every single EU achievement ever made, analysts and commentators find literally any angle they can that turns the conversation into 'their opponent sucked' rather than 'the EU team played well'. How many years in a row does EU have to place high at international tournaments before people start actually giving them the credit they're due. This video has a 14 minute segment on GenG vs G2. The first 8 minutes is literally nothing but saying 'GenG weren't playing at full strength', and then the rest of the segment was talking about Fnatic? A 14 minute segment on GenG vs G2 and they only start talking about G2 1 minute before the end, and only AS part of the conversation about Fnatic. It's actually beyond a joke to have a segment on GenG vs G2 and not even make one single comment on what G2 did well in the series in *14 minutes*.

I think FPX Khan is the perfect example of a great player that just doesn’t fit. Straight up upgrade over GimGoon on paper (at least at the beginning of the year), but doesn’t have the synergy with the team and doesn’t fit the FPX play style at all.

There is no way NA is ever going to win worlds with the same recycled players, if you want to earn some money really quickly and end your career, you just go to NA. Look at him now, on the bench collecting a paycheck and in a Jacuzzi all day laughing his ass off at the seven figures he is earning while inting every game. It's weird and I might remember incorrectly, but wasn't GenG the "unofficial" 2nd seed of Korea last time? Only thing that happened inbetween was them loosing to G2 and now they are only the 4th best team ... To be clear I am a fan of LS but his takes on western teams vs eastern teams is pretty bad usually. But it's really funny how he constantly picks the eastern teams to win and somehow the west still manages to perform really good. I just hope going forward he get's more accepting of the mental aspect. Just like Dom who predicted Fnatic to get out of Group C, even though he assumed LGD was the "theoretically" better team. But in the end it will need EU to win for some more years to eradicate the leftovers of the Korean bias (which was legit until 2017)

I agree he is serviceable but in a league full off midlane talent its hard to give him another year in the Fnatic roster imo. I would just get new mid and see how it goes. As for the original question i do feel a arguement can be made Orome showed less possible potential to come both compared to the 'benchmark' aswell as compared to the potential ceiling the other 3 rookies showed. You only know more about someone once you actually work with them on that level of comparisson howmuch they can offer and estimate howmuch they could potentially still gain. I honestly feel the same goes to RGE's Finn, if you hire Alphari into that roster you should have an incredible versatile roster.

Its very interesting to give a comparison to worlds and spain's change, because there is a much closer comparison that does exist in the world cup, England has one of the most competitive regional leagues in the world (similar to NA in lol it's full of imports though haha), but internationally they rarely perform despite the significant local talent they have, and it's gotten so bad that similar to NA fans in league, people just kind of accept the failures despite their players being world class, granted the reason is different, but it's still interesting

The Best esports tournament in the world is truly The Internationals (Dota 2) because of the way they handle the group stages and esp the Brackets where they have Winners and Losers Brackets so that everyone have chance to take a shot to the Finals. Imo, the best TI is the TI8 because of the great storyline like OG winning TI where no one believe that they can win it all, NoTail vs Fly storyline, and many more. All I can wish that Riot should have this idea so LoL Worlds would be exciting.

Nemesis is bad because he is almost never the reason they win games, and often a liability and the reason things go badly, he often either dies midlane or gets pushed in and that pressures the rest of the map. And if he has pressure nothing comes from it

@suck urmum Think there is some truth to that in terms of isolated play, but I think as a whole team you’d struggle to be as effective in BO5 as G2. Caps on G2 is better than he would be anywhere else because he has total freedom to limit test and go for plays because everyone will back him no matter what, and their rock solid mentality makes them so hard to break down in a series unless there are huge advantages like FPX had.

TI is the most fucking lit event ever. Stopped playing dota a long time ago but i still watch cuz dota is insaneeeeeeeee. League worlds are cool but Valve just slays the event. Not to mention in a normal year the Dota pro circuit is pretty entertaining since its a fuckton of events that allows high level teams from MULTIPLE regions to constantly play each other.

43:25 i dont think executioner's calling makes the difference in game 4. they bascially drafted full ad and willingly put their only ap down 100cs. you need blade and last whisper on ashe instead of essence reaver into bf and you need black cleaver on graves instead of ghostblade. then its playable also, i think fnatic should replace nemesis for sure. also also, rekkless is good but might be too passive for the rest of the team to work. no idea who to replace them with tho

I am ok with flyquest going 3rd in their group because it was their first time at worlds as an org, and most players hadnt been to worlds at all in 3 (poe, ignar) or even 5 (turtle, santorin) years. For them specifically, going 3-3 in their group, including the fact that it was TES and DRX, and that FLY took a game off the tournament favourites (at least, at the time), while maybe not worthy of a celebration, was a very respectable 1st showing. They were also the most proactive team at worlds, and they completely changed their playstyle to adapt to the meta.

i like LS, but when he says 'dont blame a specific player for what is going on with fnatic, just listen to the mic checks and you'll understand the problem' I just remember how much he has flamed hyli at some live viewings, and rightfully so cause sometimes it looks like he is disconected from voice comms, but almost never acknowledges any of nemesis mistakes. However I think that Nemesis gets flamed way too much and about things that wasn't his fault and that might actually have consequences on his play. He looks really uncomfortable at champions that he was known to be very good at. In the end of the day if you are a supporter of a team you should SUPPORT the team and its players, not throw them in the fire after every loss cause you dont help anyone with this type of attitude.

Problem #1 with NA: There is no Professional Ethics in the region. Problem #2 with NA: Riot Games doesn't care to help improve the region. It's been the same exact problems for years and Riot KNOWS THIS. They don't care enough to do what needs to be done to help improve it here. It isn't Riots responsibility to fix these problems though. NA teams pressed for franchising/Academy teams (so they can try out new talents without worrying about relegation), Riot gave it to them. Almost nothing changed in respect to NA roster building. NA pros wanted to be able to stream games from the tournament server sp they don't have to play on soloq with bad ping and streamers/otps. Riot caved and pros abandoned it after around a month. Now OCE players don't take an import slot anymore. Riot gave NA teams and pros most of what is possible without totally ruining the experience for every east coast player by moving the main servers to California. What more are they supposed to do? The only thing left to be done would be to expand the Academy system to conferences like in NFL etc. The problem then is that barely anyone watches Academy as is and I doubt that splitting it would help there, which will also lead to little to no interest from other (esports) organizations.
