@QuintusAntonious2 жыл бұрын
@@largol33t1 More than one risk. This probably had a greater risk of being caught than most of his ventures. I work on in the project management side of construction. He mentioned this was a job on government property and pipeline related. At least in the US, those kinds of jobs are over-monitored for safety and budget compliance and often planned out to the minute to regulate labor, materials, and limit budget overrun. Off hours, unscheduled work with two men who aren't on my worker's list would be a bigger red flag than a guy in a high viz vest camping in the woods (transient labor is common in construction so that actually happens more commonly than you might think).

One time, on the southern shore of Lake Ontario (on a road allowance) an early morning Canadian traveller came to watch the sunrise. That person was delighted to find me and offered to share her morning tea and snack as we watched the sunrise over the lake. (I have more stories of getting "caught" stealth camping - all positive)

Steve, I rarely comment on KZbin, but thank you for being you. This is the first time I laughed really hard at something in weeks, times are tough over here. I can't even watch my usual KZbin channels because I'm fearing for my friends' families who can't leave a warzone, but I immediately watch your new videos because they are always a few minutes of comfort and respite. It sounds silly but you're doing the good work here for a lot of people, so thank you again

You've done it again. Instead of "stealth camping", you and Crazy Neighbor have pioneered "in-your-face illusion camping". I'm wondering what other obvious facades you can create out in plain sight and hide in... like a dumpster in a parking lot, or a boat on a trailer parked near a marina or dock. You've already got a school bus... I wonder where people park food trucks at night, or if anyone would notice an extra one parked in the lot the night before a stadium event?? Down here in Maryland we have snow ball (or sno-cone) stands that sometimes stay in place year round, even when closed. Of course this sort of thing would require even more work and planning, so I'd think it could only be a once in a Blue Moon sort of thing... but it's a fun idea. Anyway, this video was marvelous and I loved everything about it. You two are such fun together, no matter what you do. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures and brightening our lives.
@garnetmage42442 жыл бұрын
@J W Oh, ok, I was thinking there might be places in some cities where the trucks form "food courts" and most trucks wouldn't want to give up their regular space. I've also lived on streets where there wouldn't be space to park at home, or it wouldn't be safe... so having a shared parking area would make sense. Baltimore still has Street Arabs (not sure of the spelling - horse drawn wagons that sell produce in neighborhoods that don't have access to many grocery stores). A few have room to keep their horse and wagon at home, but most rent stable space. So I thought some cities might have areas with a similar concept for larger vehicles like the food trucks. Oh, well, maybe not a practical idea, but still fun to try and imagine how it might work... And I completely hold Steve responsible for finding myself indulging in such mental silliness in the first place. LOL

@@garnetmage4244 Up here in the summer it's ice cream trailers, they sit in parking lots all summer. I love your ideas, I hope Steve reads it and takes it under advisement. I love the "in your face illusion camping", what a glorious idea!!!

i've done an overnighter in a large empty crate in a stack of crates in an alley, turning the open side to the wall so i could get in & out. also, threw a huge heavyduty cardboard box (it'd contained a sofa) over the fence from behind a factory warehouse onto rail land. it just looked like a stray piece of garbage but, over time (this was somewhere i used to catch freights from regularly), i ended up with a mattress in there (still plastic-wrapped, pulled from a dumpster from behind the same warehouse) & a further large sheet of plastic stashed as a transparent tarp. for a time, i was spending a coupla nights a week living in the the thing as i was moving my stuff from Toronto to Ottawa. hiding in plain sight works!
