Katrina and Kyle live full time in this awesome 5th wheel tiny home with their 3 children. Once they sold their home and began paying rent, they knew they wanted to own their home but not shell out all of the cash to do so. Instead, they endeavoured to build a DIY tiny house for their family.

Sandra Bowen The “F”ing nerve of you. Perhaps having 3+ children is not for you and your significant other, but you have zero right to say it’s stupid or don’t make sense nowadays to those who do have 3+ children especially when the couple is 21+ years old, can afford them and the kids are being well taken care of. This couple seems to fit the bill. Go have several seats, sit down and shut up 🤐. See now how that feels being told what you as a grown woman should and shouldn’t do. Bye Felicia.

@@elizabethmorales2287 I lived with all my brothers and sisters in one bedroom apartment as a child and I hated my parents for that because I never had the privacy I needed. Yes, they need activities but they all need their time alone/privacy sometimes. We really don't know how the children really feel and think about living this way since the parent's are speaking for them. This is ideal for a single person but not to built a family in even if it's the beginning stage.

As a single or couple this might work, but people who think this is suitable to house FIVE kids are actually insane. Especially when the kids have to go through their parents room, to crawl through a literal crawlspace with no privacy to get to their bedrooms. As a single/couple, you're already sacrificing and cutting major corners on clothing and storage, given tiny house bedrooms don't usually offer any. I imagine this family will inevitably, sell, rent or make this an airbnb - even renters probably wouldn't know what to do with all of that poorly designed crawl space.

That’s a hell of a trip if the kid on the top bed in the far loft has to take a wizz in the middle of the night. They have to climb over their sibling, climb across the catwalk, through their other siblings room, through their parents room and down the stairs. Every1 commenting that its "just for now"...the point is - everything about this build reflects that the kids were merely an afterthought to all the things THEY wanted for their OWN comfort FIRST in the house.

Most people in these comments just seem to have it in for these parents. All the tiny houses I’ve viewed and have viewed a lot, the loft area that even some adults sleep in you cannot stand up. You know the other thing that always strikes me when I watch these things. I've seen a lot of them lately and I don't think I've seen one where they said "we've been living here for (>6 months,) and we love it." Where are all the people who have been living in a tiny home for 2+years? I mean I know they are out there, but from where I'm standing and watching these videos, it doesn't seem like anybody stays in these things for very long. Which isn't surprising, just interesting. I think the tiny home thing is cute and I like it to a point. Living in a small space like that is kinda like being wrapped up tightly in a comfy blanket, I find it pleasant for a while. But I have a sneaking suspicion that this shit gets pretty old pretty quick.

Most kids of all ages love a cozy space. Our friend's teenage daughter gave up a full sized bedroom to make a kind of cave in a little part of a very short attic, and we know lots of kids who have done something similar. Our youngest son as a pre-teen made a little bedroom in a walk in closet for a while. These bedrooms are actually larger than some in "regular" houses; just a bit short but that's perfect for the reading, thinking, games, crafts & quiet play (and of course sleeping!) that bedrooms are used for. They have the rest of the house, & all outdoors for large muscle playing which can't be done in bedrooms anyway.

I think it’s funny that they consulted the kids on the dishwasher size, telling them they would lose inches off the silverware drawer. Like a kid cares about how much room forks and spoons have. I disagree, mostly in principle. In practice I think you're right. But back in the day a family of 12 would live in a 1 room cabin. They survived. I don't think it's fair to say that these kids hate it when we don't know. BUT, back in the day, when people lived in a 1 room cabin spent a lot of time outside, they could get away, go into the woods and play etc. Where they were parked looked industrial and not a place you'd let your kids run so they are forced together without privacy. But, what people are forgetting is that things can be done like curtains, storage, etc to make it work. They could even take down the ceiling to the living room and lower it. If it doesn't work they'll sell it, there is a reason a lot of people sell their tiny homes, because they live there a few years and want more space. It's not a lifestyle that makes most people happy.

11:40 "The ceiling's a little short in ceiling height, but uhm, that doesn't really matter because we aren't in here much-" Did this dude just state the fact that the bedroom two of their kids sleep in, has too low of a roof to be comfortable to even stand in, and then brush it off because HIM AND HIS WIFE don't go there much? Dude! That is where more than half of your current children sleep EVERY NIGHT, and your keeping them from getting the proper space they need because it isn't a problem for YOU? This is straight up bad parenting, and I assure you this will definitely become a problem in the future. Why do they keep having children if they can't even give a proper bedroom for their current kids?! There is literally a fan in that room between the beds that the kids could touch of bump when crawling past that could get them hurt! And to make it worse, you live yourselves a high ceiling room with proper room to move! To pile on to that, they have to go through a tight door to get in, through your room! Not only bad design, but bad design that was made by the parents. It honestly looks like the kid's rooms were thrown in last minute. Where do yo even plan to keep your upcoming child?! These are just examples of bad parents, through-and-through.

Kids need some privacy. Maybe some small curtains.

He said “We don’t tend to be up here a lot”. He meant it was fine because the adults usually didn’t go up there

It is a little confusing. I think they meant they owned a house, sold it, rented a place, and wanted to own a home. When you buy a house you usually pay mortgage. With a tiny house and if they had profits they may have been able to outright pay off their tiny house, and some student loans. 🤷‍♀️

🗣️📢 *I would NEVER design a tiny home this way for my boys. Tiny home living does NOT mean living UNCOMFORTABLY in your own home. Having to CRAWL into bed and unable to STAND up in your own room is a no-no. And where is the DOOR to the bathroom? 🤔 Will the children be watched as they take showers?* 🧐

I came here straight from a video about a lovely couple coping with winter van living in Canada. They were so endearing and you know when you feel an instant warmth from people and think they come across as such nice guys? Yeah, so I had the exact opposite feeling a few seconds into this video.

I agree. I immediately disliked mom a lot. She seems incomvienced by the kids like she doesn't even like her own kids.

3-4 kids, home schooled and firmly under the control of this woman in this small space, sounds like a real nightmare when the kids outgrow those jail cells they sleep in.
