This is how the GT6 should have been! Owned both TR6 and GT6, and the rear suspension was a weak point on both, from both a geometry and strength perspective. In the end gave in and bought a fast truck: a 240Z; infinitely better engineering, although I missed the lovely Triumph woodgrain dashboards.

Gee I'm sitting here in Perth, Western Australia and thinking good things about how this build is coming along.. and the neatness and quality of the work. I watched from the start with the purchase etc and even though there was a long break, it was obvious that there were a lot of gears in mesh and some very well done panel restoration .. Keep up the classy work and I find your "Blinky Quirky" presentation and editing.. very entertaining. Makes me want to wind +40 yrs back out of my life and get into a project like this.

This car is going to be an incredibly nice ride and my eye has always been pleased by a fastback style rear end. The work your doing is very good work but your style separates your videos from the rest. You deliver the nitty gritty information on the build with a flair that is explicitly meant as entertainment for the viewer. I really like the car so it works well with me. If you get hired on to some big time network as a host I sure hope you find the time to finish this car lol!... or at least sell it to me real cheap and I'll finish it!! lol jk I can hardly wait to see it when you are done. It will be a supercar built withing a regular man's budget ability. Keep it up, I like your "show" a lot.

I just found your build this morning. VERY interesting. I'm doing a LoCost 7 with the C4 suspension front and back, and one thing I did pick up in research is that you have to pay careful attention to the balance of the half shafts if you narrow them. When GM went from the C3 to the C4, they lengthened the half shafts to get rid of some of the vibration problems of the C3. Just something to keep in mind. Awesome build so far, I'll watch from the beginning as time allows.

@@FanatikBuilds The stock double wishbone set up is already pretty robust, the upright and top ball joint will take a loading above what you can put on it, remember the top ball joint was used on the Lotus Esprit V8. Seeing what you do with the brakes will be interesting though, I've seen Ford, Honda and BWM discs all adapted to fit, usually with a willwood caliper.

Hello from good old Blighty (more specifically Coventry where your little cars was born, I ve worked for BL or "Jaguar Rover Triumph" as it was known back then, now "Jaguar LandRover" for 40 years, don't know whether I like it yet but hey oh) . Great videos I have followed them from the beginning. As spitfire owner myself what you have done to the rear panel seems are a stroke of genius (pity it wouldn't work as well on a spit due to the boot being flat). Hope you don't mind me making a suggestion, remove the lower rear seem as well and finish off with no bumper. Good luck and keep up all the good work, (oh and if you could post a bit more often that would be good ;)

Very cool Alan! Glad to have you along for the build, and glad you are enjoying it! Yes, de-seaming those is on the agenda for one of the next times the body is on the rotisserie again; likely going to run the bumpers for local regulations etc, but will be tucking and thinning them a bit. Both bumpers are in pretty bad shape so it'll be interesting getting them to a point where they're actually usable though! Cheers and stay in touch! 👍

I know this is completely going to drive every enthusiast crazy and I apologize in advance haha I got my dads 69 tr6 now and it’s been sitting in the garage for 30 years super clean car all original zero rust. But I’m wanting to put my own taste into the car make it a fun cruising show car and mow when I want it to be and not so low when cursing the interstate. So I’m thinking about going with air bag suspension. In theory can I run air bags in the rear with out the spring? Since air bags have everything integrated?

1. Why didn't you polish the other half shaft at the same time? When A.D.D. TRUMPS O.C.D.?! 2. With no body bushings, and urethane bushings in the drive train, the body will shake it self apart! Torsional stress from the frame twisting will tear the sheet metal! Soild body to frames are for racing applications. Made that mistake twice! 3. The experts are correct about the lower control arm mout strap. The strap is made from cheap chinese steel. Don't scrimp on steering, and braking components, IT COULD MEAN YOUR LIFE! 4. Have your flywheel balanced! If you can afford it have the engine bottom end balanced when you do the engine! 5. Straight Up Fantastic Work! Can't wait to see it on the road!
