there should be a third person who actually has a healthy relationship with food, like who eats intiutively what they're craving, healthy foods but sometimes not so healthy foods too. that way they would learn what normal eating is like. being around someone who has a healthy relationship with food and their body can be so healing.

What the trainer in Vegas said is true. All about habit change. Only failure on her part I foresee is they'll slowly revert once back at home. Exercise amounts to next to nothing in terms of weight loss, its more for building endurance and strength. If not mindful can also lead to overeating. Rather just going on walks and getting some natural vitamin D/enjoying nature can be a huge mood boost. Gentle cardio. Playing in the pool is also easier on the joints. I'd love to see a health show where the host/doctor/nutritionist actually visit the person's home daily and guides them 1-on-1. Purges house of over processed junk. Having them sample a variety of whole foods and teaching them cooking methods. Lastly the importance of establishing hobbies. Sitting in front of the TV screen is just going to drive boredom eating. Sewing. Drawing. Pottery. Gardening. You name it. Healthy distractions!

Even if her weight didn't directly cause her death, I'm sure it was somewhat a contributing factor. She was a sweet girl. So sad for her daughter and partner.

BamBam! - She passed less than a year after the filming, iirc. She had continued to slowly lose weight so while she wasn’t skinny, she was on the right track at least. They also said she had some kind of underlying heart condition they didn’t know about until it was too late, so while my understanding was her weight certainly didn’t cause it, it also didn’t help.

I really love that they are showing that people with disabilities get eating disorders, as well. It's not something that is researched enough, and people don't know enough about it. I have CP, myself, (though my case isn't as severe as the woman's in this episode), I've had anorexia / EDNOS since I was fourteen, (I just turned thirty in July 2020), and I have a couple friends with CP who have struggled with eating disorders, too.

I really liked the discussion between Shelby and Lauren about their food and eating. They both gave it their best. I was sad to read in comments below that Lauren has died. I hope she had success losing weight and getting to enjoy her family.

Onions are very healthy and are a good food antiseptic. Onions and garlic too. Both of them kill TONS if bacteria inside our bodies. It is highly recommended to eat at least a couple of slices once a day.

Typically it's more like a spread made of cheese and onion, similar in consistency to an egg salad sandwich. It's still pretty rough though

I have since learned that Lauren passed away at age 21 of a heart attack. Apparently, she had an underlying heart condition that her weight most likely made worse, but in her final year, she was trying to lose the weight. I hope her daughter is doing okay.

Like most English foods, it's based off of poverty food - cheese, onion, and bread were readily available to impoverished families and contain a high amount of calories, some protein, and a vegetable (onion has a long shelf life compared to most veg). Most of our staple foods can be easily broken down into 'food that keeps you able to work so your family doesn't die'.

You shouldn't aspire to have a body that is unnatural and unhealthy for your body type. Shelby is probably naturally petite and tiny with a small appetite. Whilst she doesn't look shockingly skinny she's still unhealthy. Aspire to have a body and weight that is realistic for you. I'm 5"8 with a heavy and muscular frame and even at 11 stone I start to look skinny. I also have boobs and hips so I'd never be straight up and down skinny. And I'd be dead before I could get down to 6 stone. Everyone is different and has a different frame.

I cannot imagine what it is like to just feel totally indifferent about food. I am currently overweight (with a BMI of 27) and I am pretty much constantly thinking about eating and I have a very hard time not giving in to my cravings that I know are completely removed from nutrition and have everything to do with managing restlessness, boredom and a general lack of joy. I would love to experience an extended period of time where I just don’t think about food beyond nourishing my body and having the occasional snack for good measure. I’m constantly going back and forth between wanting to get in proper shape and feeling absolutely miserable whenever I try to discipline myself.
