I absolutely love it when a reasonably priced car performs just as fast or faster than cars priced at $100k. BTW that is an amazing lap time! congrats!

I loved this series, project ASS2000 was a success, I cant believe 30K can get you such a badass build. I don't even know what would happen if y'all did engine, big transmission mods. The internet would probably exploded with that VTEC screaming. Great great great work guys, I loved this very much keep up the amazing and quality work. Love and support from Texas!

I love the celebration at the end!!! Nice work Dave and PT! That makes all the sweat and toil so worth it. Of course, it's about more than just "crushing a Jaguar", it's about taking a completely used and abused S2000 and turning it into a proper track car. Sweeeeeeeet.

+Lee Douglas Exactly, we kinda love that the S2k was pretty much dead and now it's a track monster.

Was just watching their old 2014 z51 review. It did a 1:18.8 bone stock. And you can buy that car for around 35k right now on the used market. Big s2000 guy but I think the vette would be a much better choice over the ass2000 for 30k and all the work that went into it

What a cool project Dave and PT :-) i hope to have my money for my S2000. A little question, where did you get all the parts from for the S2000? I'm from Holland/The Netherlands but there is not a shop with the race parts like you 2 have. Please let me know !

Hahaha, I think you had the air-con on. I saw the green bars on the right side of the steering wheel. Would of maybe been faster if you had that off. As always top video, and cannot wait till more ASS2000 videos come out, looking for mods on what else I can do to my S2000

great lap!! so a 8 hour drive to go try this fun little track its tempting haha
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+Rising Sun haha, not sure TMP is worth an 8 hour drive but Mosport (now called Canadian Tire Motorsports Park) is an epic circuit near Toronto that's definitely worth the drive. It's a former F1 track and is the fastest road course in North America.

Speed Academy yes i know that track well! but the fact is my car is to stock to go there! i need at least the dc5 brembo brake conversion and coil over before i do faster circuit

I just sat here and watched all 21 episodes. This was VERY entertaining, guys!! You did an amazing job of making that S2000 a real racer! I was sad to see you make it a permanent hard top, but that's personal preference. The biggest lure to me is the ragtop, but I'd just drive it on the street and maybe do a little auto crossing. I've always loved that car and considered selling my FD for one, but I just can't pull the trigger yet. I bought it brand new and it's become part of me. Part of that which is pain in my ass at times, but I still enjoy driving it a LOT. Great job guys! And thanks for killing my whole day at work. It's okay, I'm the owner. :-) Don't forget to thumbs up and subscribe, gang!!
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+tscooter22 That's what we're here for... wait, no. You should be working ;) Seriously though, so good to hear that you like the video series and that's a super tough call. There's something great and magical about an FD so our answer is don't sell it and just go buy an S2k as a second car haha.
@beastronixracing94779 жыл бұрын
Superb driving line Dave! If not for the suicide cone in turn 2, you might have had an even faster lap.
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+Beastronix Racing Thanks Josh! Definitely would have been faster without that cone, haha. Was slopping in Turn 6 onto the middle straight too, so definitely a mid to low 1:19 in the car if we nailed a perfect lap.
@Hyuzanriu9 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you are on high performance street tires. If it's a track car why (other thancost) not at least throw on semi-slicks? Just curious.
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
+Hyuthree yessir, Hankook RS-3 summer tires. We wanted to stick to a street tire so as to be a fairer comparison vs the Jaguar. Now that we've accomplished our goal vs the Jag, we'll be switching to DOT semi slicks for the next phase of the build.
@Hyuzanriu9 жыл бұрын
+Speed Academy Ahh okay. Are we going to get to see some hotlaps on the semi-slicks? I can't wait to see what it does with them.
@TheChannel19789 жыл бұрын
+Hyuthree I've gone the opposite route on my s2k. Dot ratet Nitto Nt1 semi slicks for track days but fairly soft suspension, just uprated Swift Spec R springs on OEM damper. I'm curious to how much performance I'm losing due to still running stock dampers. My s2k is about as fast around a local 3.5km circuit as a mate's s2k with coil overs and similar power. So it can't be limiting it too much. I find the literature about suspension setup often contradicting, or sometimes even saying softer springs/dampers provide more grip, with harder springs/dampers only providing faster response and less roll. And less roll only marginally improving grip. So it's a weird one. I"ll just have to buy coilovers at some point and see for myself. That's why this video series is so amazingly entertaining for me, a build path that is not too over the top for many people made by people who actually communicate and answer questions. Love it!
@speedacademy9 жыл бұрын
Hyuthree you'll definitely see laps on the semi slicks, though maybe not for a little while. We have a bunch of other mods to tackle first. 9000Redline a softer setup definitely allows the tires to work more and generate better mechanic grip, as long as body motion and weight transfer is reasonably well controlled. The S2000 has good stock dampers, so we're not surprised to hear your setup with Swift springs works well. We've had similar experiences with sports cars and sports coupes that come equipped from the factory with high quality dampers. A useful rule of thumb is that as you move up to stickier and stickier tires, the more spring rate and bar rate you can run.
@TheChannel19789 жыл бұрын
+Speed Academy Yeah I can definately feel that I can upset the body easily on the semis. So there is definately more pronounced body roll when I'm pushing high acceleration lateral or longitudinal, but it doesn't really affect lap time much if I keep the inputs smooth and stay on line. I think the roll/soft response was more of an issue if the car was a race car where you're jostling for positions in a race sometimes, having to change lines suddently etc, and the chassis has to be fast responding and controlled at all time. Does this make sense? I don't want to sound like an arm chair racer here. But the reason I haven't bought coil overs so far ias my mates s2k really didn't go much faster on coilovers, if at all. It was easier to drive though, the rear was much more planted both out of corners and during heavy braking
