Same. I was obese. Now I’m healthy. We should not accept obesity as healthy. Beautiful is another issue. Oh i mean these people are a bit crazy but basically Europeans wanted to be very very curvy or even fat before slavery. There's sermons that are recorded and were preached to stop being gluttonous like the blacks(paraphrasing here). If you to the past white people started to want to be as thin as possible. I mean it's only recently that big butts and curves were seen as good instead of needing to work off your butt. Remember "does my butt look big in this? Or my thighs?" Just a few years ago people in highschool were obsessed with having a thigh gap

As a naturally skinny person I've always hated the phrase, real women have curves. It really really hurt my feelings. I try to gain weight, and its a real challenge... I like to workout bc it helps my mental health and overall health. And I'm made to feel bad for it, bc I "don't need" to
@Anjasotherchannel
@Anjasotherchannel 11 ай бұрын
Same issue. My reason for workout is that, although loosing weight is not an issue, I still need proper muscles. I've never worked out to loose any weight, but I came to a point where I realised, that having a nicely shaped body doesn't mean that working out is unneccessary. I still need a healthy amount of muscles to not get back pain, neck pain or other issues like being unable to carry stuff because it's too heavy. I stopped trying to gain weight as that normally backlashed by getting a stomach inflation and that resulting on loosing weight.

Body positivity is about loving your body through all the changes. For example, gaining weight during pregnancy, After the baby is born we are left feeling inadequate and like we are in someone else’s body. That’s when body positivity comes into play. You love your body through its journey back and forth. Or when you go through a life saving, body altering surgery like double mastectomy, etc. Body positivity is not about glorifying you unhealthy lifestyles.

I'm dropping weight doing nothing but walking (I aim for 10,000 steps 4 days a week and 5,000 the other three days). Too many people are quick to say that you can only lose weight through diet, and exercise is just for getting toned. That may be true for some people, but for me, dieting makes little to no difference (unless it's taken to an extreme), whereas weight just magically falls off if I walk. Good for your daughter finding what works for her. It's so much easier to have never had the weight than to have to take a few years to get it off.

I have been overweight since 5th grade and I am now 19. In high school I just accepted this will always be me, I will always be the fat friend and I can't do anything to change it. My best friend is also bigger than me and had the same mentality. I never knew how bad it was getting until a few months ago. Granted I was never huge, I was still obese. At my highest I was 210, I couldn't breathe normally, I couldn't walk up a flight of stairs, I ate all the time, I always had diarrhea, I felt tired all the time, I couldn't fit into bras because I was too fat, I couldn't do a lot of things comfortably. Due to all of this, one day I had a change in the way I thought and I started losing weight. My friend also began her weight loss around the time I did but she began earlier. We go to the gym together, I educated myself on how many calories I need to eat and how it all works. Because frankly I was too stubborn to even figure out how to lose weight I just blindly accepted my fate. I have lost 30lbs so far, I am trying to get to 50-60lbs total. Now, with the fat activists on tiktok, they are extremely toxic. I believed their lies, I genuinely thought there was nothing wrong with me. I also got sad when people "left the group" like megan trainor, lizzo, trisha, and some other bigger celebrities that lost weight. I felt like they were leaving me, trisha made a song about fat girls I don't remember what it's called but me and my friend listened to that all the time and it to us reinforced our belief that fat is beautiful. My friend at her heaviest was around 320 and she has lost 100lbs. She;s not doing it in a very healthy way, it's taken her around 8=9 months to get there. I cannot look back on these fat activists because it will cause me to fall off my weight loss journey, especially mukbangs and things of that sort as well. I am just glad I made it out alive.

But when you hit 30 and above your body really starts to get stuck in its way. It needs to be framed in such a way that it's about the body when you're older. I lost close to 70lbs healthily over 2 years and different regiments, and all the pain you're talking about went away. All my lethargy is all but gone. I hated the way I felt. Not that I am upset about it or feel heavy,but always is better when you can keep your healthy standards: your height in cms- 100 and 10kg up or down.For example, if your height is 160cms,your healthy weight can be in range from 50kg to 70kg,depending on your bone structure. So,enjoy your 'skeleton ' years,becouse it wont be like that forever. Just adjust your clothing style and be happy,that your weight is not 300lbs

Fat acceptance is a form of addiction acceptance. Hyper palatable sugar foods are highly addictive, with withdraw symptoms on par with some of the worst drugs. I agree, but you also can't outrun the fork. Take this from someone who has ran several half marathons, some while being overweight and some at a healthy weight. Depending on your height, current weight, and age, it doesn't take a lot of slices of pizza (cheeseburgers, bags of chips, chocolate, pick your poison) to surpass the calories needed to sustain your current weight. I have gained weight in the past while training for a half marathon because after my 8, 9, and 10 mile runs, I spent the rest of the day eating junk because I "earned" it. Turns out, on average, you only burn roughly a little more than 100 calories per mile while running (more or less based on your current fitness level and weight). For the 8 mile run, my Crispy Chocolate Santa that I "earned" replaced more than half of that in only a few minutes and it wasn't a huge piece of chocolate. On the flip side of that, I've lost weight while being "immobile" after foot surgery because I was more careful with what I decided to eat. I wasn't overweight when I went in for the surgery either and I was able to start training back up for another half marathon about 2-3 months after the surgery. Some of those sandwiches and salads they sell at Wawa are 600-700 calories and most people pair them with a 400 calorie bag of chips and a 260 calorie soda. My daily calorie limit for sustaining 140lbs is only 1600 per day if you include 200 calories daily worth of exercise, so a lunch like that would be more than half of my daily intake if I don't want to gain weight. Granted, I can't drink soda (carbonation issues), and I generally would not be able to finish one of those sandwiches and a bag of chips at lunch by myself, but plenty of people do.

So, I work in the medical field, and this body positivity movement is really getting the better of me! I can still accept it if you as an adult choose to be happy with your obese body, but when it starts to affect the children, I have a REAL problem with this! We are exponentially seeing young children (5-7 years olds) with Type-2 diabetes and HYPERTENSION!! With enlarged livers even on adult standards. When your 3 year old needs to wear 9-10 year old pant because that's the only size that fits around their waist, we have a problem!!! That child looks to you to teach them healthy choices and habits, so if your child is overweight, it is your fault as the parent. And it is really sad to see little 5 year old children being out of breath from just walking from the passage into a room and onto a bed, because their lungs and heart is not strong enough to support their obese bodies. Interestingly enough, it is also usually the most obese people who expects the most help from everybody else. So you are too big to be able to get up from lying down into a seated position and then expect ME to pull you up... Nah girl, I'm gonna stand back and let you do it yourself, cause my back ain't about to be hurt due to your life choices.

My family has always been active but with covid all the sports have been canceled and my parents have been working all the time so my entire family gained weight. My parents and my brothers are over weight by 20-50 lbs im over weight by 2 and that was okay because i used to be 80 lbs at 12 which was super unhealthy but now im 123 at 13 but with sports being brought back i lost atleast 5 lbs and im excersizing. It does matter if your child gained weight when it was hard for them maintain a good weight its the steps after that count. When my parents found out their 7 year old so weighted 78 lbs we cut down on everything now its eiter 1 soda or 1 starbucks per week instead of random times and now we must do a sport activity for 1 hour. For my brother its now 1 1/2 hours of soccer practice and for me its 2 hours of basketball pratice and running/ walking a mile everyday aswell as practicing basketball after practice.

@@billyswife9805 good for you for taking steps to get back to better help. The pandemic was hard on everyone, and as a household with both parents working, I understand just how hard it became! I work at the hospital so I was never at home and my husband worked from home. Our little girl's school closed so she had to do online schooling. But, we made a point of doing some form of exercise at home - either a workout routine or working in the garden or something and it made a huge difference! We also tried to maintain our normal eating habits and not go crazy on snacks. We managed to not gain weight during our country's hard lockdown which lasted for 5 months

As someone who went from 260 lbs to 130 lbs (at 5'7), I can say I never once was happy being obese. In fact, my whole life I've been insecure about being overweight. Occasionally, I get people telling me that I was beautiful at my heaviest and I shouldn't talk negatively about my old self. But the problem is, whether I was beautiful to them or not, I was not happy with myself. I was rather depressed about it. I get accused of having an eating disorder just because I look so much different than I used to, even though my weight right now is dead center in the healthy range for my height. People just get offended about what you're doing with your body because of what they don't want to change about their own.

I however don’t think people need to hate themselves while they are trying to lose weight. I think you should love yourself while you’re on your journey because you’re getting closer to where you want to be health wise. Being over weight or under weight is not healthy. Now you should not change for someone you should change for yourself to be healthy. But totally agree with you girl! By not taking the time to pick out healthy foods at the grocery store and cooking healthy meals. By not having to have any sort of willpower. It's easier to just grab fast food or a bag of chips or what the hell ever than it is to go to a produce stand and get some fruits & vegetables and make yourself a smoothie. It's easier to lie around watching Netflix, YT or Tiktok instead of popping in your earphones and going for a jog. It's easier to eat a whole bunch all at once and gorge yourself on one or two massive meals as opposed to eating a small amount multiple times a day. It's easier to not have to think about it and just do whatever you're use to doing than it is to make a change.
