Thanks for your great work. Shannon too. Since winter is sneaking up on us here in the Ozarks, I made the Hodge Podge Beef Soup. This is the best soup that I’ve ever eaten! I’m sure glad that I doubled the recipe. I usually make a recipe as is for the first time, but I didn’t see any heat in it. I subbed and added a few things. Bush’s Southwestern Style Beans Jalapeños Canned Hatch Green Chiles Thanks to all of the Veterans out there that make America what she is today!

I had put some of each in the freezer and was looking for something quick but comforting on a rainy Alabama Thursday, so I took and combined all three in a pot and warmed it... Cowboy Kent. Once again, YOU have shown why you are the "Universal Southwest Chef ". Now I know you don't take kind to the term chef however when you cook for a multitude of people you are by definition a chef. I watched your previous video on Huevos Rancheros and then watched another well known "chef" whom cooked the same recipe and that person is an exceptional cook but your recipe IS the most original. Have you tried canned cheese? Easy to can. Keeps forever. Needs no refregeration. Taste as fresh as the day you can it!!! Wash and sterlize small canning jars. Sterilize open jars in a 250° oven for 30 min. Cut cheese into squares. Pull out one hot jar at a time, and fill with your cheese cubes. Place back in hot oven and continue to fill all your hot jars one at a time. As cheese melts in the open jars add more cheese until full to the top shoulder of the jars. Debubble the jars with a clean wooden spoon handle by simply poking it to the bottom of the jar around the sides. Then place lids on each jar, finger tighten rings. Turn jars of cheese upside down on a towel overnight, covered with a towel. That's it!! Canned cheese!!!

Another GREAT video. Suggestion for soup... Get the best of both worlds....Use red potatoes because they hold their shape and DON'T go to mush even if overcooked. Then add a finely chopped russet or two. The russet WILL turn to mush and thicken the soup. Win / Win !! The same applies to baked beans... mash 1/2 of the beans and use them as a thickener.

In my experience, if you want vegetables or herbs chopped, there’s nothing better than a beagle or old hound. They’ll chew it nice and fine, but when they realize it’s not meat they’ll spit it right out! Hahaha!

Add a pound of hamburger to that cabbage soup. That's how grandma made it.

I think I'd like that better than the ham.

@@MichaelRei99 To each their own. I take it that you don't care for cabbage rolls?

Jean Yeah, grandma made it with hamburger browned with an onion, cabbage, carrots, corn, potatoes in chicken stock mixed with a large can of crushed tomatoes (herbs and spices). We'd have this for dinner after a day of pheasant hunting. She was a hell of a cook, a war bride from Ireland that grandpa met in London. She was there building bombs for the R.A.F.

Had the beef hodgepodge first time at a camp out on the beach with some bikers stationed there. Best soup in the world!
