Fortunately it hooked just inside the front of mouth so unable to bite line.😊 Thanks for all your great tips and videos

Merry Christmas Matt. I Think you've gone above and beyond with this river series, weather / bank conditions and health wise, your commitment is admirable. Probably a bit beyond in this episode, on your own with bank conditions like that, a vlog is not worth that risk pal. Congrats on the barbel and the great content this year, I'm an avid watcher of the channel and love the banter with you and your dad. I have the river Severn a ten minute walk from my house, but I truly wouldn't risk fishing with bank conditions like that on my own or with a mate. You can only drown once buddy. Take care, and I'm looking forward to some more great content in 2025

Cracking barbel and well deserved Westy!! Have loved watching your videos this year bud and supporting your store. As someone else mentioned - get some 19 spike crampons (cheap as from a certain online retailer) to slip over your wellies. I was recently introduced to them by 2 old boys on my local stretch - game changer and they may save you some real bother!! All the best for the New Year

I will look at some ! I just feel if you did slip in you would stand less chance of getting out your waders wearing them. Also thank you so much for your support 💪🏻🎣
@paulweston724917 күн бұрын
I never wore waders this time of year for that same reason bud….. just wellies. Take a look, they’re mounted on flexible rubber and just stretch over your boot - I’m really impressed with them. Loved that other comment someone made about the dog spike and paracord, gonna try that too especially when you’re out on your own!!
@garywagstaff354916 күн бұрын
No need for 15lb line on Ribble. Get yourself some premium line korda subline 12lb or Gardner hydrotuff 12lb both break at over 17lb That peg is at the end of the the bedrock that runs down from 200 yards above. Also in the channel is 3 rocks like fingers stick up when it is low that's what your getting stuck on .put a weak line between your feed and run ring so you will only loose feeder or lead.

The ribble is not like a lot of rivers there is bed rock that the river has cut out you can see it in summer on a low river this and boulders are where you loose most of your tackle.. you did nothing wrong my only advice after many years is have the korum free running not pushed onto the bolt as they dont come off to easy and it leaves a trailer please keep the video's coming loved them

@Torotrakman18 күн бұрын
Congrats on your first Ribble barbel! You fished in tough conditions with river on the rise. Par for the course losing tackle unfortunately but you can mitigate it somewhat by ensuring your lead or feeder does not move when you cast in. You had little chance of that on this session though! Well done again and welcome to the Ribble tackle graveyard!
@WestysAngling18 күн бұрын
That makes sense ! If the flow catches it rather than it going streight to the bottom it’s got more chance of being carried into a snag 👍🏻 good advice. Suppose not much you can do to stop that unless you use a much heavier feeder
@Torotrakman18 күн бұрын
@WestysAngling exactly mate, pack that groundbait in tight as hell and fish the right oz of feeder/lead to hold bottom. I must have lost well over 50 rigs this season but its just the way it is on the Ribble if its rocky.

How are you using the bands with worm
@WestysAngling16 күн бұрын
Can you not tell from the video buddy ? Stretch your band out with a bating needle 🪡 then slide them on. The band opens up behind the worms. You can use a quick stop but I don’t like the hard plastic. You need strong bands though, I use my own brand 👍🏻 westysangling.co.uk/products/westys-strong-method-feeder-bait-bands-x-100?variant=50243713892659

@gloytusmaximus930418 күн бұрын
Yes mate once got stuck at the bottom of a steep muddy bank on the river wharfe and had to crawl up on me knees and belly to get back to top, ended up using bank sticks to stop me sliding constantly back down, took around 15 minutes to get up probably a 4 metre path, now dog spikes first thing in me box if I’m going on river adds hardly any weight and costs around a tenner for a decent one
@peterhodgkinson812116 күн бұрын

@WestysAngling19 күн бұрын
The hooklengths never broke it was obviously the feeder getting lodged. Or do you mean as a leader ? Personally not a fan of fluorocarbon, reason being it’s not as supple as mono and doesn’t flow naturally in the current. Just personal preference I guess 🎣
