Feeding Peacock Mantis Shrimp

I managed to get some decent shots of my mantis shrimp Bruce feeding on a cockle the other day and thought I would put them together. Enjoy!

The clam was dead and frozen long before it got to Bruce if that makes you feel any better. Glad you enjoyed it!

@@KungFuShrimp now I feel good, thank you 😁😂 I used to have a pet snake and had to defrost mice for him, people were grossed out by the mice and rats in my freezer 😂🐁🐍🦐🥋❤

Love the king go noises have you had any issues st with Bruce strking to glass in this tank or the old tank ? Also was the old tank a river reef 94 or similar cheers bud

Thanks for the comment! Yes his old tank was a Kent bio reef 94 but that is essentially the same tank. He certainly hasn't struck the glass in his new tank and I can't remember him doing it in his old one either.

Mine has a few times. The last time he did it was on a day where I dont usually feed him. I gave him extra food that day and he stopped. Same thing happened the following week. So I'd assume he's getting my attention for food.

I just got a female peacock mantis shrimp and it won’t eat the snails I put in there with her. I’m afraid she’s gonna eat our clown fish. Any advice.

It's possible she's getting ready to moult as they will often stop eating just before. Best advice I can give is offer a variety of foods, I use cockles, mussels and lance fish in general but be sure to remove any uneaten food before it rots.
