Very interesting, the decorator crab is a master of disguise. It is a surprise that the crab's camo would work even in a close environment like this. If it is able to blend in enough to remain this close to a fierce predator in the wild, it would give it access to "protected" space.

Is your tank glass or acrylic? I’ve always been nervous getting a mantis shrimp because of the risk of it possibly breaking the glass
@KungFuShrimp14 күн бұрын
My tank is glass. I think the chances of a mantis breaking a tank are very low but if it will worry you I'd stick to acrylic.

Reminds me of that time we were in the Roman Colosseum, the crowd was roaring for our blood- too bad you didn't make it...good times they were, mate !

Can I keep dwarf lionfish and mantis shrimp together in a 45×45×45 refugium?
@KungFuShrimp28 күн бұрын
I would not recommend that. It's not a lot of space and dwarf lions tend to be stationary a lot of the time. I wouldn't risk it

What would work great with water quality is a roller filter. I love the setup with Bruce
@KungFuShrimpАй бұрын
An unpopular opinion these days buit I'm not a fan of roller filters or even filter socks if I can help it. For me it filters out too many of the good micro organisms. I prefer to run relatively slow flow through my sump to allow things in suspension to settle out then clean this out periodically.

I would be afraid the MS’s clubs may receive hairline fractures within the club structure from hitting such a massive shell. Those crabs btw can become huge

Your mantis shrimp seems so gentle. They're intelligent animals, and seem to only strike when they perceive a threat or are attacking food. Anyways, great video! Thank you for sharing.

My son and I love this channel. We are fairly new to it and I don’t believe we have seen all the videos. Do you have any footage of Bruce swimming backwards? We read that mantis shrimp do this. Thank you!
@KungFuShrimp3 ай бұрын
Hmmm not sure about backwards but one of my early vids was Bruce swimming round his tank and poking his head above the surface to look round the room which is one of the strangest things I've seen kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpbMgoehhMStoqcsi=4WQKdTC51Ksmbk1w

He is so gentle! I've watched your other videos with Bruce, and how you explained that giving Bruce alot of places to hide and feel safe is why he has always been so relaxed. I don't have a Mantis yet but I hope when I do I can make sure he feels as safe and relaxed as Bruce does.

After watching a ton of different Mantis Shrimps feeding, I think they know when they're being watched... Once they think they're alone, they're more likely to eat.
