I just watched you idle behind a blast deflector for four minutes, then in front of it for three. Still not disappointed. It's a beautiful machine and while I've worked around heavy vehicles before, that deck crew's confidence and professionalism around all of that is just amazing.

Alot of people don't realize how much you have accomplished to be sitting in a machine and risking your life every time you take those birds in the sky and put your ass on the ground. And you do it to protect my life here at home knowing the risk you face and the separation from your family that you must feel. I want to truly thank you and I am grateful that you share your experience with me and the rest of the world. You Sir, and all those serving are truly heroes. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Besides the pilot there are hundreds of people behind the scenes who work 12 hour days and night to get birds in the air daily. Without maintenance the planes would be tied to the deck.

Try being the troubleshooter (me) next to the rear of the jet next to the jet blast zone, you want to feel like your in hurricane winds, try standing in that zone 18 hours a day 7 days a week, oh yeah you get tired real quick fighting the jet blast + the wind across the bow.

As an old nuke on TR, I gotta say look at that steam flying by along the flight deck. It's hard to tell but the TR is no doubt going flank speed (or close) to maximize her wind over deck to help get these birds in the air. Let's not forget the nukes down in the engine rooms churning those 2 nuclear reactors at high power! Ahead flank 151 baby!
