Nine family members and a best friend share their story of losing 17-year-old Andron Petteway, II to fentanyl poisoning.
Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

The family whose house he was at when he passed away...they should be ashamed of how they handled things. The mom was told very specifically how to do the CPR and was doing the opposite of fast. How would she feel if that happened to her son? When I have someone else's child with me, that is my child at that moment and I protect them as such. My heart goes out to Andron's whole family. He was clearly so beloved❤

@@suncatcher87 loyalty is not defined by who you give it to. You can be loyal to anyone. It speaks of who you are personally. My son took pills, but was very active. He was going to school, matter of fact he just graduated. He took very good care of himself and did what he was suppose to do. Did he have short comings ? Yes!! Doesn't mean he deserved to die at the hands of those that was suppose to be his friends, and those that are suppose to protect and serve. You have to be a loyal.person to truly understand what loyalty is. I've did a lot of wrong things in my life. I also used drugs when I was a teenager, but I'm a very loyal person!! So druggies or not doesn't define loyalty!!!

@@brandihickman5623 re-read my comment, I am fully aware of what loyalty is. You and your family are deeply rooted in immortalizing your son and blaming everyone else but him in addition to him being so-called "loyal" to his druggie friends. @@suncatcher87 I don't need to re read anything I read it correctly!! Tread lightly on what you say about my son bc he was not stupid he was a loyal person period. We've all given our loyalty to the wrong person one time or another. As far as blaming everyone but him, we said what we said!!! Yes he had an addiction, but the system that's suppose to help these children are failing I don't care how you look at. Did he really take a pill that night, or was he forced? His armed was damaged as if he was in a struggle. I'll tell you like this!! You only got 30 mins of what his life was like, you don't know half of what the system the ones that was suppose to protect and serve did to my baby!!! It was way more than what you heard, but his story is not complete. When everything is all over y'all should feel ashamed of yourselves for thinking it was ok what they did to him in that house. He was a human first before anything. Have several seats take the message and pray it never happens to your family.

The most disturbing part of this story was the fact that the police were there when a young person was laying on a mattress, and nobody - no one - thought to try to wake him or speak to him or check on him. It got me choked up. That was someone’s child. Regardless of any preconceived notions, he is still a human being. Why would they ignore him? Everyone in that house that night should be put in jail. My heart breaks for this family that lost someone so special to them.

@Jayar thank you so much and that is all that we are trying to say. Everyone wants to get on here and be ignorant. They carried him from the table and moved him in that room before calling the cops to come out. The cops saw him through that window several times and was standing right by the door while inside the house and nothing. The daughter of that family told me that when they moved him from the table his lips and finger tips were purple and blue!!! The adults and teens in that house knew he needed help and failed to render aid. Oh let’s just say we thought he was passed out….. that’s what the police let them walk free with!!!! I’m so sick of seeing all the negative comments on here so I try not to read so again thank you for you positive words!!! He was just a young boy trying to find his way. I love my nephew no matter what anyone has to say!!!! We loved him and will fight till the end.

@@andreahickman15 I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers! Don't let those on the outside looking in affect you. Some people must project their unhappiness onto others to make themselves feel better. But, at the very least, someone in that house (or in the police department) should be charged with Negligent Homicide. It boggles my mind, but then again, I understand that the police didn't see your nephew as a person, only as a statistic. They didn't know who he was, and didn't care to know, so they discarded him. It is such a tragedy.

Substance abuse disorder doesn’t discriminate but how people view black people with substance abuse issues vs white people with substance abuse issues is very different. When black people were being disproportionally affected by crack, black people were tossed aside, arrested for life, and not taken seriously. But when white kids started dying of drugs especially opioids they were treated with a lot more compassion and resources to keep them clean and get help. Anybody of any race and class can have substance abuse issues but how they are treated in society in terms of race is very different.

@@brandyyolidio4213 Not everyone is religious.?! Souls,None is called to become religious, cause all are called to back into reality, through repentance and new birth. That`s good news. And nor am i religious, nor was i ever religious. And nor do i follow or believe in a religion. All religions are masons made up stories, just to keep mankind confused and busy believing all kinds of nonsenses, the most is known, that into heaven goes many ways, That is masons lie. Masons build up many ways into heaven, which are all known as religions. Search about them, for they are your enemies, they steal - destroy - kill. Masons = children of devil. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Only through the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD, CHRIST - can we go into heaven. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. But there is few buts: Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. That verse sifts out the lukewarm christians, who proudly scream out and letting others know they believe, yet they do not do so in their hearts. Christians = saved souls, who go and sins no more and until their deaths or the returning of CHRIST, are all doing daily the will of GOD: KEEP PREACH WATCH EXPOSE + being daily in a battle agents his own flesh. For every Christian must walk after the SPIRIT and not after the flesh: Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For no Christian are called to just believe but to be also a doer of THE WORD :James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: These are the 2 buts. Again i say, it is good news that you, dear soul, are not religious. And if we`d be to take a Christianity as a religion, then no soul be saved for real and Christ either died in vain or not at all -- that is a lie, stating that Christianity is a religion and not a reality is a lie. For it is a fact that no religion saves. Christianity do saves, for no soul becomes a Christian, until he have gotten saved, called upon the name of the lord, which proofed the needed faith to be there.

My biggest concern with this is the fact that adults in high positions allowed a 12 year old child to decide if he needed help. As a child I saw nothing wrong with alot of my poor behavior and it wasn't until I became an adult that I went back and was capable of understanding my wrong. Andron's story is a reminder to those battling addiction to get clean. The drug game has changed tremendously and these dealers are cutting their drugs with anything and it is truly sad. I will never frown upon anyone's addiction and neither should anyone else because we all have been addicted to something even if it wasn't a drug. I pray for peace and sanity to Andron's family. He's physically gone but he will remain with them forever.

He needed help, yet received poison. Now he's gone and will never get that help. @@andrewsherry6460you should be ashamed of yourself for that doormat mentality. This family's words belong in their living room in the secrecy of their home and each other. The world does not need to hear that he was "poisoned" by a drug he didn't mean to take. Drugs are drugs. Drugs kill. He's dead because he took drugs. This family shaded everyone from the police, to the person who called 911, to praising his "loyalty" to his druggie friends (it appears what they call loyalty is actually stupidity or peer pressure but stupid anyway, just like you. Their message isn't "don't do drugs, you will die". Their narrative is a pathetic blame game for a boy who was loyal who hung out in a druggie house that was even shot at the very night he killed himself by OD. Heck, he could have been killed by a bullet! I hardly think anyone in this family has come to terms with the reality of his death. The blame game illustrates their lack of emotional intelligence.

Oh my gosh this is horrible. My gosh. I'm so sorry 💔😔 What Andron's aunt said is 100% true. Addicts are some of the most gentle, empathetic people on the planet. They feel everything. They do not have thick skin. They are too vulnerable for this evil world. They are simply self-medicating to cope with the pain of being in this wretched place. God bless you Andron. Your life and your family's testimony is going to save thousands of lives. Bless you. Thank you. 🙏❤

The war on drugs is the reason why so many people are dying like this. Most people got od because they were taking pain meds for legit reason and then they started this war on drugs so the dr stoped Giving out prescriptions so they turned to the streets and boom the dealers are out here selling fake pills laced with fentanyl.the biggest drug dealers out there is the government, they are the one bringing it in the ports flying it in and introducing it to the streets to kill us off anyway and if they stopped criminalizing people for having a addiction and actually treated them more people would get help but putting them in jail is not addressing the problem they just come home in relapses because it’s a chemical imbalance that needs to be treated by a doctor not a judge and cops that’s why people don’t get help and are out here dying.

This really hurts my heart. Andron is the same age as my son. I drill into my son all the time about the dangers of taking drugs and how marijuana is still considered a gateway drug. He claims that that was "back in the day." Society has normalized so many things that kids today literally don't know what's good for them. Let's keep our babies in prayer. Continue to ask questions and bring awareness to mental illness. My heartfelt condolences to this family.

I lost a close cousin this way. She died in a crash Aug 20, 2020. She died 4 days after her birthday. Someone gave her pills & it was fentanyl. She fell asleep & crashed into a semi & her car blew up. Her birthday is Aug 16th. We had to bury her on my birthday Aug 31st. I hate the whole month of August & I get physically sick every year it comes. I definitely feel for your family. He is still here with y’all ❤ Much love from KY!

I don't know how old you are, but you are wise way beyond your years. Grief is a funny thing it either paralyzes or motivates you. For you, it is the latter. Your passion and message are so incredibly strong, and you have already made a difference. Speak your truth even when it means you are standing alone, and you think no one is listening. Someone is always listening. Your words are important. Your passion has inspired me without even knowing it. Adron has a beautiful beautiful family. There is no shortage of love.
