A mother and daughter share their story of the loss of this 25-year-old loved one to fentanyl poisoning.
Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

This is one major reason i homeschool my daughter. Over these past few months she has had 4 friends pass away from fentanyl. I pulled her completely from the Carrollton ISD because this area is full of this mess. She too took a pill from a friend and we ended up in the hospital my daughter was lucky. I show her these videos and she cries every time.. but she needed to see how it affects the parents.. because they don't realize the mess they leave behind the hurt the pain.. nothing will ever be the same. I have cameras at home, i know her few friends.. i have her location, i have her in counseling and therapy.. whatever it takes to keep my child away from this pandemic. But i agree schools needs to show these videos..

She is so full of grief that she has listed every excise and blamed everyone except her son. He son was a drug addict and had cocaine and percocet in him. How many people do you think the police see this happen to? He had been addicted for a while. Why was she so shocked? As a school counselor why didn't she know about drugs? She's blaming everyone because she is in grief and can't blame it on her son.

This could be my family’s story, and we’re living this nightmare in the moment. On May 30th, my brother was found dead in his car, with a plastic bag with a white powdery residue in it. Although the coroner’s report and the toxicology report won’t be back for quite awhile, in my heart of hearts, I know. He was a secret , recreational user, and none of us knew. We knew he was an alcoholic, and tried many times to convince him to get treatment. He was a very successful businessman, and because he was a functional alcoholic, he didn’t feel that it was that great a problem. Even though we kept trying, if someone doesn’t acknowledge they have a problem, or isn’t ready to make the changes and put in the work, you can’t make them. But we never gave up on encouraging him. I always felt that at some point this secret life would catch up with him, while at the same time, tried to remain hopeful that he would someday overcome his demons. He died 4 days short of his 60th birthday, and left behind 2 precious children, ages 2 and 4. And now there’s a little boy who will have some far away memories of his daddy, and a precious little girl who will never have any memories of her daddy, except for pictures and stories that people will tell her. And my brother, who had so many wonderful qualities about him, was a good man, and was so loved by his family, has been reduced to just another statistic.

I lost my brother last November (2022). He was 60 years old. He had a drug problem. I tried my best to get him the help he so desperately needed, but he didn't want any help. I received a call from a family friend, telling me he was deceased in his house. I will never get the image of my brother laying on tge floor deceased, out of my head (😢). He was among other drug addicts, so no one knows what truly happened. But the autopsy said, whatever he took was laced with this horrible drug. Lord knows I miss my brother, & I wished I could've helped him. Now, I have to live on earth without my mother (who passed away in 2019), & my brother. 😢🙏🏽... I miss them both so much. She was going to a hearing the next day to end her case and to receive her settlement money. She bought a perkiset pill took it and never woke up. Her mom, who's a nurse, found her dead the next morning. You don't think it will happen to you, but it can. Her dr. quit giving her the medication she needed, so she found it on the street. I hope they find the person who gave this to her,but I doubt it. I pray 🙏 for her mom and hope it never happens again. So sad.

My heart breaks for you. We lost our 28-year-old son in 2013 of an "accidental overdose". It gets easier to function day to day but it never goes away. I know our son is in heaven and I look forward to our reunion someday. You are officially in the club that no one wants to be in "the parent who has lost a child club". We are all connected and there is NO LOSS more profound. I remember thinking, God would never take my child because He knows how much I love them. We have friends and family who have lost children and I saw the pain it caused for the parents. THe truth is, parents love their kids and their loss is something we can all learn from as I have. Continue to share your story because it will help someone. I prayed for you and your family that God would provide His comfort and peace. I have found that most police officers really don't care about the loss when drugs are involved. Sad but true.

EVERY COMMENT ALSO SAYS WE NEED TO TELL THE KIDS ABOUT DRUGS, SHOW THEM THESE VIDEOS LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT FENTANYL. WHEN THE AA COMMUNITY WAS AFFECTED NO ONE CARED, NOW THAT IT'S THE OTHERS, THEY HAVE TAKEN MEDS FROM THOSE WHO NEED IT BECAUSE THESE PARTICULAR PEOPLE ARE NOW THE ADDICTS, DESTROYING FAMILIES. To Jacobs mother Thank you, many years ago i thought i was going to be in your situation with my middle son…..he/i was lucky Fentanyl was not in the drug system, but the feelings i went through when i found my son under a table curled like a foetus will remain with me for life. He and therefore I was lucky that crisis point came when it did, with help and our support my son overcame the use of drugs which i had no idea he was using.

Sadly this happens alot. I’ve heard several stories where someone does Fentanyl around their so called friends and once some one loos like they’re overdosing they usually run because they’re scared or have warrants or whatever. Regardless of what you have going on please call the Ambulance and tell them to bring Narcan right away because if you don’t do those things time is ticking. Save a life if you can

Another heartbreaking story. So proud of the work your doing in Jacobs name🙏🏻 I always read through the comments on these videos and it’s crazy how many victim/survivors are posting their stories as well. Every time I read about a big fentanyl bust in Texas I cheer, but for each bust there are many thousands of pills making their way on the streets. I don’t know what the answer is but it starts with awareness. Thank you to everyone for sharing.

👁👁 🤷🏾‍♀️THE ANSWER IS THAT THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN STOP THIS IS THE ADDICTS. CRACK DESTROYED THE BLACK COMMUNITY... YET CRACK IS STILL HERE. IT'S VERY DELUSIONAL TO EXPECT SOMEONE ELSE TO SAVE YOUR CHILD MORE THAN THEY OR THE PARENT CAN. THE OUTRAGE IS DUE TO WHO THESE DRUGS ARE AFFECTING MOST 💯🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

As a mom i feel her. I would have all kinds of questions, concerns, doubts, all the what if's would come into play. We also as parents know our kids and if we know our kids have drug problems we should address them and if they are adults and don't want to listen or seek help then we should always remind them what the consequences are for those actions.. and we should be prepared for any outcome. Any drug is a drug no drug should be used for anything especially to heal our mental/emotional problems.. at some point any drug won't fill our needs and they run to other drugs for solutions.

Jennifer, first please accept my condolences on the loss of your beautiful son. I know you don’t want any glory, but I have to applaud you on your honesty, and everything you have done, and are doing, to open our eyes and ears to the horrible dangers of fentanyl and other opioid drugs. And, I totally agree that marijuana is a gateway to other drugs! Prayers for strength, comfort, and peace for you and your family. 🙏🏼❤

We as parents and grandparents it is up to us to bring awareness to our schools, our communities, to our youth. We live in a different time these days , we live in a world of danger everyday and our children have to be aware. You ma’am were wonderful in your interview. God be with you. ❤

Imagine a cancer victim being found dead and a detective says "he was playing the fool"? When are we going to FINALLY stop criminalizing the "victims "of drug addiction and FINALLY view them as a person dying from a disease or disorder that is acceptable and one of compassion? I'm truly so sorry this family lost a loved one to the negative effects of drug addiction. Your son was sooooo much more than his drug addiction and has left a hole that may never be filled . I believe he is at peace in the arms of Jesus. May his family be blessed with that assurance and the knowledge they didn't do anything to deserve this. I'm praying for you all

These stories are heartbreaking. As parents we have to research the death ourselves. No Mother should hear her child was acting stupid. Police told us that they use our college kids and that our children are a necessary evil to catch the bad guys! We were told it should be a crime until undercover detectives arrived and told lead detective changed the death to “accidental” Everything we have found out doesn’t give us closure. There is no such thing closure. We are forced to live without our children. I believe genetics play a part in addiction but so does peer pressure, lifestyle. Fentanyl combined with methamphetamines and you are hopelessly watching your child’s brain being destroyed. There is the psychotic state of mind, picking their faces until they bleed and just keep picking. I have lost loves of my life one to Heroin and Xanax, main drugs in her system but there were several drugs in her system. My 2nd daughter died lethal dose of Heroin, Gabapentin, benzodiazepines, my 3rd daughter died of a lethal dose of Fentanyl ,amphetamines, THC, and other substances.

They are criminalizing themselves! No one is criminalizing them Cancer victims don't go around robbing and stealing from other people. These drug addicts called attention to themselves because they go around committing crimes toward innocent people. Just because it is called a disease it doesn't give them a free pass to go around robbing and stealing from other people. They still need to be held accountable for their actions regardless if it is a disease or not. I'm so tired of these drug addicts say I have a disease so it's ok for me to go around committing crimes.

I don’t know what we have to do to get it through our young peoples heads, that these pills are NOT from the drug store! It’s like they have a mental block and think it won’t happen to me. It is so frustrating to lose these bright darling young people. Such a waste of talent. I hate he dropped out of college. But happy he was successful. But my heart breaks for you and his young family that this terrible terrible illness snatched him from you. Hold his family close to your heart and life. They will be your salvation in the years to come.
