A father, Chris Cavallo, and a sister, Cristina Cavallo Frisby, share their story of losing a 39-year-old loved one, Stefanie Cavallo, to illicit fentanyl in this documentary about the dangers of illegal drugs. To use this presentation at high schools or other educational applications, contact Texas Pictures through our website at www.texas-pictures.com.
Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

I am 6 months sober from all drugs. I almost died last year due to drug induced psychosis. I threw away my life savings away and now am in trouble from 2 arrests. I am slowly recovering and I am thankful to still be alive. I want to share my story so others may escape the horrors of drug addiction.

Addiction is an inherited form of mental illness. Runs in families. Ask me how I know. My condolences. I too lost a son to fentanyl. It killed him so fast he was found on the floor with his arm on the wall. They believe he died within minutes. Anyone reading this. If you have family that are alcoholics or drug addicts, it’s in your family. Make sure you inform your children of this. Let them know that this is a form of mental illness and once you kick start it, it’s almost impossible to stop. My son was an addict for 16 years. It took so much from him, getting high became his life. And for the love of god do not buy pills or anything from a drug dealer. They are putting fentanyl in everything. Literally everything. Even weed.

It’s the hardest thing I ever went through in my whole entire life!I I would love to come alongside you and assist in anyway possible. I am trying to organize a 5K for overdose awareness day (August 31) in Charlotte County. I hope that we can come alongside each other in one way or another and offer our love and support. I will be looking into the Robin Foundation! And I agree! These people want their families together with them and I think it would help and assist in their recovery! I teach class at Charlotte County jail and that’s all the women are concerned about is their children!!! as you would expect! Stay strong and be blessed! Love, Polly Pierce

So I'm waiting to hear how we can start at home as parents. We must consistently spend time with our kids at an early age. Does that guarantee there won't be a drug overdose? No. Spending time loving our children, being at home when they come home from school, helping them with their homework, teaching them right from wrong, enforcing rules at home, getting to know their friends, doing things as a family, not ignoring red flags etc.is a good start. Not allowing them to be home alone for hours at a time. As parents, we have a better chance of keeping our kids safe if we take our responsibility seriously. Are your children a priority? Or is your priority having the big house, best toys, best clothes, best vacations for your kids? Kids just want your time and love. They want rules, they want you to show up for their school activities. Are you staying informed about how your child is doing at school. It starts at home.

Thank you, I honestly just want to say thank you for hearing the pain of the addicts and the families of addicts. No they are not just junkies, each person that has overdosed, each person that is struggling with their addictions has a story and they deserve to be treated with dignity and compassion. I am 3 years clean and sober from my addiction, what got me to wake up? my 10 year old son found me overdosing in the bathroom with a syringe still half full of heroin/fentanyl and meth sticking out of my arm and my arm is almost black since I didn't take the tourniquet off. I will never go back!! Thank the lord for narcan ❤

Both of my sons are addicts & i am terrified of getting the call on one or both of them so i do know some of what you went thru before your beautiful wife & daughter passed. The drug abusers have totally ruined the system for people who have legitimate pain and need " pain killers ". They can't get proper treatment because of the drug abusers. The government has shut that down because of them. Why do you think people are going to the streets to get their pain meds? Because dope heads ruined it for everyone else. Sad but true. But, yes, we do have a Fentanyl problem because of illegal drug seekers.

I do not live in America but, I watch many American docos. I think the way that the medical industry is run over there is also part of the problem. I do not know if there are free clinics over there but, I know it is expensive to get medical treatment. In Australia we have free medical care for those who cannot afford health cover. The only downside is that there are long waiting lists unless what is wrong is urgent. I say that addiction is urgent and it should be free to go to treatment centers and the Govts need to provide high quality care. There is not enough focus on the importation of these drugs either. That goes for all countries.

I hope the Robin Foundation continues to thrive, and helps the people who need it. I had a family member die from drugs and wish I could’ve helped her

I am so sorry for your loss. It breaks my heart to hear that the officer would say something so disrespectful to you. She was not just a "junkie" she was a daughter, sister, mom, and most of all she was a human being! Stefanie's life had purpose and value and shame on those who looked on her as dispensable. Prayers that she has found peace ❤

Thanks for sharing. I appreciate the comment about generation addiction and its effect on family. I have 2 younger sisters who have been battling addiction ( crack) for going on 35 years; and our father was a devout heroine addict.

Where is all the money that the states have gotten from suing Perdue Pharma, etc. It should be used only for solving the fentanyl problem and saving lives.

Wow it's up to 200 a day now? 😥😢 Just a year ago I think it was 175. How much worse will it get before things start to change? Everyone please carry Naloxone with you at all times, even if you don't know any opioid users.

I would love to know what an overdose looks like because I know obviously when they're not breathing that's an overdose. However I think there are times where they come close to overdosing and when I try to look it up it says call SAHMSA which I did and it was no help. I am dealing with my 23 yr old son Geno who is battling fentanyl addiction. He has been to rehab twice. I lost my stepson Sullivan who was 19 on July 22nd 2019. God Bless the work y'all are doing. Right now we are losing so many. Too many. Everything your saying is what I feel. Since we lost Sully I have wanted to open a detox/rehab for those without insurance. I wanted to name it after him. Sullivan Hall. I would love to help you both in any way I can. I am praying for us all.

If you are uncertain, call 911 for help. Medics do not arrest people and can often revive them. Many states give out free narcan to anyone if you want to keep it in your car first aid kit.

Shallow breathing, pinpoint pupils, maybe vomiting, maybe unresponsive. If I’m sure, there’s no risk to using naloxone (Narcan). If it isn’t an opioid overdose naloxone will have no effect of any kind.

@@TexasPictures I know the nod but couple weeks ago my son clearly used. He was sweating profusely, clammy skin but was trying to tell me he didn't use. I had the naloxone (sp) out but i only have 2 and wanted to be sure I don't waste it bc I don't know where to get more. I am looking into where to get more now. I drove to the ER with him and made him sit in parking lot with me for hours til it was over. This is an awful existence and I don't understand the pleasure he gets out of spending all his hard earned money to basically sleep. It's so frustrating and infuriating but at same time, I am always scared whatever I say or do will be my last words. I need go join a support group if I can ever find the time. In my opinion, he was on verge of OD. If not overdosed without death. I know you have read my other posts and know I lost my stepson Sullivan and my niece Kiersten to this same thing. I HATE FENTANYL!!!! It is so hard and my daughter (his sister) is almost 30 and never even tried weed or cigarettes. I don't get it.

I’ve had 13 laparotomies and also got addicted to pain meds. I am very honest with my doctors and husband now so I don’t fall into that trap again. Had surgery 16 months ago and was off the meds within 3 days of discharge and only because I was honest. It’s okay to tell people you like the meds so that you don’t lose control.

The second constant of all these fentanyl poisoning deaths is the lack of of empathy and lack of action by the police and this seems to be in every story I watch. The government needs to do something about Mexican cartels and the drug dealers selling this poison to unsuspecting people. May this young lady be resting peacefully and may the family have peace and strength to survive their loss
