They aren't quite matching. Seifer cuts Squall's face with a downward slash when Squall wasn't ready to defend. Squall immediately turns face and retaliates, giving Seifer a mirrored uppercut (putting Seifer's scar on the opposite side of his face). I gather from descriptions by the authors about their mirrored personalities that we are supposed to see that Seifer is not bullying Squall, but that both of them are carefree jerks and Squall merely has a currently wounded ego. While Squall lands in the position of Hero and Seifer lands in the position of Villain, the authors went to great lengths to make it clear that neither one is heroic or villainous, merely both are selfish and egotistical, and their environment is the whole difference after that.

In the parody video Seifer doesn't have a scar until the scene where he joins Edea. The animators put it there silently and stealthily. When I noticed I was like: "Oh, Ok, they remembered it" and moved on without commenting... Differently from many others I think.

You have Squall's scar wrong. It goes by his left eye. Seifer's is correct. The two are mirrored, and thus on opposite sides. I wouldn't have noticed if you had them both wrong, but it was them not being mirrored that caused me to notice.
