OP is still making decisions based on others' opinions, and Internet strangers at that. Also, some comments are really stretching. Maybe her friend didn't want her to get shitfaced on her failed wedding night because he was worried? Since when is drowning your sorrows in alcohol a good thing. And while traveling alone may be awesome, did those commenters just ignore that this would be her first time? Even if nothing dangerous like rape, kidnapping, or murder happens, you can still be the victim of things like scams and petty theft if you're not careful, and a woman who was freshly jilted on her wedding day is probably an easy mark. Hell, even my father got his bank notes stolen right out of his pocket on a family trip and we were all aware it was a thing that could happen. Sure, she should do something for herself, but that doesn't mean she has to do it alone. Everyone heals differently. She should think about what's right for her. Well, as long as that entails dropping the shitsack instead of "reconsidering the relationship" lol what's there to reconsider when he straight up left her at the altar? Really...

Story #2: I was born in Thailand many moons ago and Thai was my first language. My parents moved back to the US after their military service in Bangkok was over and we lived in Philadelphia, where my mother went to graduate school. While there, she met many people, including several classmates who would come over to our house to study. One of those individuals was named Mr. Key. Apparently, toddler me thought his name was hysterically funny because in Thai “key” means poop. So, yeah, names translated in other languages can have …. unfortunate translations.

Fascinating video, Let's stop taking relationship and family for granted. I have battled depression since my wife left me. I have tried all I can to make her see that I love her with everything I am made of but she has insisted on leaving. This has made me so empty, and I do not know what to do. I can barely function properly at work. I am frustrated and miserable. I really miss her.

Your pain resonates with me. Letting go of someone dear to your heart is an immense challenge. I found myself in a comparable situation when my 12-year-long relationship ended, and I struggled to accept it. Despite my efforts to reconcile, I eventually turned to a spiritual counsellor for guidance, which eventually led to a reunion. I'm now filled with joy

Story 2: it never ceases to amaze me how people are so willing to shoot the messenger. OP didn’t want to tell but of course a 4 year old is not going to have that same tact. And then of course the friend is not going to be able to unhear “nostril” from the name now. The only one who has done anything wrong is the friend’s husband for getting mad at OP.

I still remember back when Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes announced the name of their daughter Suri, and the barrage of "it means this" in various languages. Claude/Claudia means lame. Cameron means crooked-nose. My own eldest son's name means Supplanter - which is another word for replaced. People are going to have opinions regardless on what is chosen for the child.

No names, just booger bandit.😂😂 He proceeded to message the person saying he didn't appreciate the name calling and blocked them, to which they responded to their previous comment with a screen shot and said "Do you identify as the booger bandit? " And I just couldn't handle it that was so god damn funny 😂

Second story: I already heard this on in another channel and i stand with OP being NTA. Mark is right about Nerina being a real arabic name that means "Pomegranate flower". I don't see the big deal with still naming the kid Nerina, english speakers name their kids Dick and Fanny all the time and those have a worse double meaning than nostrals. Hell, i'm Argentinian and some names here literaly are just spanish words, like Soledad (Solitude) and Dolores (Sorrows). After update story: I'm glad Becca is not angry at OP and agrees that her husband acted badly in calling OP and yelling at her, she sounds really nice. I do wonder what her other daughters names are, since OP mentions that one of her daughters name also means something in another lenguage.

Story 1. NTA. Parents need to really research or analyze the names they give their children. Although pointing out a warning them, my brother and sister inlaw stubbornly used the name they chose. My poor niece was tormented in school. While the names were perfectly fine, the initials were the issue. I will use different names yet still make up the same initials. Catherine Leigh Isabel Thompson. Yes, my nieces initials spelled out a part of a woman's genitals. When my niece turned 18 she dropped the name Isabell.

The Norina name thing reminds me of the development for Emperor's New Groove in its early stages. The original name for Kuzco was "Manco" but they had to decide on something else when they realized it was phonetically too much like a word that was dirty in Japanese. A different scenario since the movie was going to be localized there eventually, but remindingly similar. XD EDIT: The followup comments with more names/translations also reminds me of Neco/Neko. One is 'kill/death' in Latin and the other is 'cat' in Japanese, but the pronunciation is the same. Mom would laugh at Necco wafers with her classmates in Latin class in her youth.

The story with the name reminds me of when I was in Year 7 (back in the late 70's). One of the girls in my science class was called Veruca, after the girl Veruca Salt in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory apparently her Mum was a fan. Anyway, 13 year old me very nearly choked laughing when she introduced herself and to make matters worse, I then blurted out "Why the hell did your parents name you after a wart?!" Apparently neither she nor her Mum knew that the proper name for warts are varrucas. So the remaining 4 years we spent in High School together I called her Wart, and she called me Arse. Not the worse name I've been called, I can assure you. I should also point out that we were pretty good friends inspite of the weird nick-name choices.
