Yep. My Mom would always compare me to her friends’ daughters etc and ask why I don’t live the same way, but I don’t like that life- in the city, condos, noise pollution, fancy cars etc. I want a small but happy home, a big garden, a dog, having “forest bath” everyday. I am working on it. 🙌🏼

My husband & I are 62& 67, respectively, and were still climbing hills! Love the woods & forests and get out as often as possible. The date is Easter Sunday, and its snowing in Minnesota, yesterday was 60ish, beautiful and sunny, you just have to take everything in stride. We feel very happy about reaching the ages we are. A very happy 50th. 🎂 When I turned 50 I thought it was a big deal turning a century old. I turned 66 in March and wonder when did this happen. I'm still 15. God bless you as you continue with the adventures in your life. Enjoying your family and doing what you love, besides that pretty Cali. Love the dog.... and oh yes, keep making your videos. I look forward to them every Friday. I enjoyed the episode on fire making. I'm a camper from way back and building a good fires is my forte. By the way, I am living vicariously through you. Happy 50th! 50 was a wakeup call for me. I realized I probably had fewer years ahead of me then behind me. Last year we bought a place, the other side of Algonquin. Seven acres, surrounded by 300 acres of crown land. A beautiful creek and a lovely log home. We are older, 70 and I'll be 64 April 23rd. It took longer to get here then we thought but we love it. I wish I could have my kids and Grandkids here but they are all on lockdown in Toronto. They have said how happy they are that we are here in the middle of nowhere. Thank goodness for facetime. Happy Birthday Mr James! 50 is just a number. You’ve already built two fortunes in life in two totally different ways. Be thankful for the lessons learned in the first one at a relatively young age of 40 and for being able to make the second one work for you so soon. Most people flounder when staring at their losses wondering all the “what if’s” and “could of’s”. Adversity builds character and resilience. It showed you what was truly important to you and you had the fortitude to walk down that new path. Opportunity is lost on most people as it’s dressed in overalls with rolled up sleeves and disguised as hard work. You my friend have taken that opportunity and made it yours.

Now, sometimes, when someone on KZbin makes a subtle joke like that, other people will respond, “in character”, with a subtly humorous “indignant” response. However, reading your response, I get the impression that: (a) you’re being serious; and, (b) you think “John Smith” was being serious. You might want to just ease off that hair trigger response orientation of yours and chill a little bit. After all, as you say, we are in the midst of a pandemic. A little sense of humour can go a long way.

Happy birthday Shawn. I think the hard times we go through makes us appreciate the average and good times so much more. I raised my daughter on my own, she had problems with her mom 10-13, and was suicidal when her mom died [could no longer mend relationship] when she was 22. Now she is 24 with a beautiful daughter of her own and has never been happier. When you become a grandpa [it wont be too soon] you will have even more jay in your life than you have now.

Welcome to the club, as you stated, I feel turning soon 54 very much alive, I’ve both have similar bios, and I’ve to agree, a fancy white collar job might get you mileage point, but not necessarily happiness. Having turned 50, one thing became important for me, my pursue of happiness. Today I’m making a fraction of what I used to make as a VP, but you know what?
