@@dangk3405 @Shuvi Dola not just the underground living situation, more importantly, she can fend for herself out in the open as well as against the derranged people since she could feel her surroundings with her bending, plus fight and use her bending skills for all sorts of innovative survival things, like make a temporary shelter made out of the earth, which could serve as camouflage against the crazies, etc. So, if she had to go out and hunt for food or stay exposed for a certain amount of time or smth, she shouldn't have too much of a problem (i think). Most of the problems would arise from the crazies anyway, since she's blind so the creatures have no effect on her, but i doubt the crazy people will give her too much trouble either way.

Okay to be real, the solution i would try is using thermal goggles 24/7. The creatures probably wouldn't show up and not in any discernable form allowing you to simply ignore them. You could see animals which you could hunt having gone into the mountains and be able to see and fend off the crazy people.

That's what I think too. Thermal goggles are nowhere near security cameras footage. They are just heat signatures. The creatures probably won't have any heat signatures so you're safe as you won't see them. Only thing you have to worry about now is staying clear or killing the crazies.

@@SARAH79482 Thinking about this, what if you can use AR (IE augmenting the reality you see). IE filtering out shadows, and movement that wouldn't be classified as "human". this mostly referencing Black mirror, as the technology was shown to be able to filter out pretty much anything, so why not flip that and instead use it to filter out non-human/earth-like entities? From there it's dealing with the crazy people, but without the monsters, they could all just be easily gunned down. Aditionally, there could be blind people or people with the blindfold-method aiding them on where the monsters are located, helping them to experiment and eventually uncover a weakness to exploit.

There is a theoretical way but it’s nearly impossible, basically you could set up a radar system around the school, put mines around the school, and activate them when the radar alerted them, this would mean no good people could get in which isn’t good, but at least it would keep the bad guys out, the problem is when they discover they can parachute onto the school, but I don’t see them getting in through the roof with any sort of tools

There is a small amount of people that are blind that can echo locate like a bat can, it's weird and bizarre, but if somehow this was replicable, to teach others to echo locate, that would work in some of the listed cases. Game theory suggests that the best chance is the creatures is just one creature in multiple places. Christians celebrate as it could be god himself. I mean, the protagonist’s friend suicides when she sees her mother, perhaps she means she sees her mother in heaven, a guy suicides when he sees him in video tape, meaning it’s the knowledge of the creature itself, the birds have something to do with something in the Bible, and the crazy guys are all criminals because they are denied a place in heaven for their sins, but want others to see the truth. And of course you can’t exactly kill god. Why he shows himself is a theory on its own, perhaps he wants to start humanity over and wants all the good people to join him first, and the bad people to disappear. Or something like that.

It is possible to beat Birdbox... The monsters show you something so horrible you are forced to kill yourself... However, if you already experienced these things there is nothing to be afraid of anymore. So if you have not developed a new fear or have not encountered any crazy people then you are safe. You could wear FLIR goggles where you'd be able to see and protect yourself from other people as they allow you to see heat signatures only (no definition) as well as buildings as muted grey structures. You'd be able to move around, scavenge, albeit better at night and all you'd need is a large supply of batteries which shouldn't be a problem. It's by no means perfect but you could survive and protect yourself very easily

I would refrain from saying, "Very easily," if I were you! You might survive, but it's not going to be easy. What do you do when you run out of batteries? What do you do a decade later when all the batteries are dead? Etc. I agree with using heat signature goggles b/c then you can "see" the crazy people, who are by far the biggest threat. I mean, all I need to do to avoid seeing those tallass creatures is to look at the ground, which means I can forage for food. So not looking at the creatures is doable, but you need some way to "see" the insane people.

i’ve thought about this since the movie came out. if you have really terrible vision, like so bad that you can only see clearly just inches from your face, then you’ll never be able to see the monster. i imagine it’s quite gruesome or something the victim would recognize so without clear vision it would really be no problem unless it got really close, in which case you could just close your eyes. you could also still get around just with some extra difficulty. i tell everyone i know the only apocalyptic scenario i would service is bird box because my glasses are 2 cm thick lol

In the book this is one of the ideas the characters come up with, and imo heavily implied to be the correct one. Near the end one of them does lift her blindfold, and she firmly puts it back down and tells it to stop. After that it leaves peaceably. It's not clear if it understood her or if it just lost interest or what, but at no point to the creatures behave maliciously. It's possibly they're not even aware that humans are sapient or understanding of the consequences of what seeing them does to us.

This video is 4 years old and I've watched it several times but this idea is just now occuring to me. If you knew the crazies were nearby and coming for you, or they had confronted you and also knew there was no creature in your immediate vicinity, you could stare at the sun for as long as you could. They want your blindfold off and your eyes open and beyond prying someone's eyelids open, you can't really force them to look at something when they can move their eyes. I mean, you could stick your fingers in and try to grip their eyeballs but that is more likely to blind the person than to achieve the desired result. Best to try to do this subtly so they don't catch on to what it is you're doing to begin with. Solar retinopathy causes temporary blindness and most of the time, vision is recovered after some time. There's no guarantee with the method, so it's best to just stay away from the crazy gangs of murderous psychopaths in general. There's also the chance they would kill you if they couldn't get you to see the monster, as people in hospitals for the criminally insane are not necessarily known for their patience, compassion or logical reasoning. Still, if you're stuck, it's worth a go (provided it's day time). Staring at the sun continuously can also, over time, cause long-term blindness with a lesser risk for infection and possibly less overall pain (compared to other methods of blinding yourself).

It's explicitly stated that the crazy people got into the school for the blind once already, it still stands. Also regarding military vehicles, almost all use exclusively diesel & lots of it. Diesel also only lasts about a year before the quality begins to degrade even when you keep it clean. If they don't find you in a year or so, you're good on that. If they don't find you in 5 years, you're good as well as regular unleaded gas itself doesn't last that long, & even close to the highway, it's decently off the beaten path & is gonna be hard to get to without cars. The M1 Abrams, which is the MBT of the United States uses a gas turbine engine though. This engine is able to run on various fuels other than diesel, such as gasoline and even alcohol (It has to be very concentrated though). In the film, cars are still running so the crazy people can siphon fuel from cars and use that to fuel the tank. So it is possible for the crazy people to stroll up in a tank. They would also not have a hard time getting ammunition for the tank, so they could also use HEATFS to blow holes in the school at long range.

I've got a solution that involves ai and vr. So what you do is set up an ai that scans images and creates stylistic recreations of them. Then you take the output images and run them into a VR headset. Now you if "see" a monster, you aren't actually seeing it, just a computer drawing of it. You could go around in public carrying a computer on your back, a camera in your hand, and an hmd on your head. Now as for the crazies, you would need to start a large group and get armed, very armed. You should try to give as many members headsets as possible. You'll want to screen each member thoroughly, this includes touching their eyes to check for contacts. At this point you'll form into what is basically a militaristic micronation. Everyone will be dedicated to preserving the new state. Everyone who has an hmd is used as a soldier. They will go out in large armed groups to hunt for supplies, however some will stay home to guard the base. Those who don't have hmds will wear blindfolds and stay home to manage the base. Anyone who doesn't want to be a soldier or a reserve soldier will be blinded. As time goes on we can set up agriculture and actual production using the blind workers. This plan has a very slim chance of succeeding, but it has some chance. The other plans will lose eventually, this one theoretically could go on forever.

Imagine seeing countless Crazies, with their distinctive eye patterns, organizing and mobilizing in vehicle caravans from the LA area as they move Northward to wipe out all survivors in the Bay Area. And somehow a defense is established by the survivors to repel them. Maybe, with luck, survivors come up with some technology as a way to finally observe the outside world without falling to the Creatures’ influence. I mean Silicon Valley is not too far away. Surely there were some scientists and engineers holed up somewhere that figured out a way to level the playing field a little bit. Esp if they stole a pair of eyeglasses so it helps hide the patterning that is supposed to be there/makes it seem more believable that they have vision. It'd require a lot of active pretending and maybe even consciously remembering to move your eyes around toward noises (a lot of people born blind i assume don't have reason to do any "eye tracking"), and it probably wouldn't be sustainable. But it could work well enough to get them to leave you alone if you "can see" and spout their bullshit about cleansing the world.

So here's my way of beating Bird Box: If I'm correct, all you need is FLIR goggles and a mirror. FLIR goggles only allow you to see heat signatures, so you would be able to see the creatures without actually seeing them. The mirror, if pointed at the creatures, would show them their reflection, making them commit suicide. Use the FLIR goggles to locate the creatures and point the mirror at them. From what I remember (I haven't seen the movie since it's launch), they don't say anywhere that you don't commit suicide when seeing their reflections, or that you still commit suicide when seeing their heat signatures, so this would be the most ideal and easy way to beat Bird Box.
