We have a model y rwd, it’s our daily driver. I am also a car enthusiast, own and driven a few cars like R34, M5 and Cayenne. How he summed it up is pretty accurate, it’s not fast but linear and good enough. Ride is a bit stiff but not as bad. It doesn’t feel luxury but the fit and finish is pretty ok. For its price it’s very good value and most commute will be same experience as LR or Performance as you don’t really stomped on the accelerator every time. Good honest review here.

I bought a '24 RWD, 19" wheels & white interior a couple months ago. It has 3k miles so far & zero problems. Not sure what you're talking about when it comes to noise. I guess I'm simply accustomed to loud V8's....

Are you able to upgrade your range work software upgrade?
@100miledrive6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. It's not so much a noise or rattle, but rather how the cabin amplifies the suspension activity. When encountering bumps on the road, instead of the impact being absorbed by the lower part of the car's body, it resonates noticeably within the cabin.

Does the base RWD come with premium sound with subwoofer? Thanks
@100miledrive27 күн бұрын
This car was standard range which didn't come with Premium sound. For new Long Range RWD I checked it does say: "Premium Interior" this should include premium sound. If you are shopping for one - make sure to reach out to Tesla reps, they will confirm.
@jred201Сағат бұрын
No it does not. Look under interior features. Says custom sound. AWD has the premium sound.

Using 20 inch wheels may be the reason why it feels bumpy
@100miledrive5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. From my observation of not only Tesla but other brands: Lexus, BMW I found that wheel size and tires do contribute to the comfort level of about 10-20%. The biggest factor is suspension, I also made a video on this not long ago. My biggest surprise was BMW 540i with low profile tires of 30 and run-flats being super comfortable.

How would you compare the 24 Y with the 24 3 in overall road noise, highway road noise, slower speeds, and general NVH? Hard to tell on such short demo drives as both seemed relatively equal no? So many positive reviews on the new 3, wondering if all the latest updates and improvements to the Y have it near equal in terms of ride comfort and road noise? Thank you
@100miledrive4 ай бұрын
Actually to answer your questions I did make another video while I had 24 Y comparing it to Model 3: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6usgJ-wndqKidk Overall as far as the road noise: new Model 3 feels more refined and definitely has better sound insulation. Also in Y I did notice in few cars some echoing which can get a bit annoying if you spend many hours with the car. I think new Model Y Juniper will match new Model 3 in terms of refinement. As of now latest Model 3 to me is a clear winner also in terms of it's driving dynamics, it's really a fun car to drive. But let's see new Juniper Y may change it all.
@RobertVRuggiero4 ай бұрын
@@100miledrive thank you for taking the time to reply. In my test drive I heard the very slight echo you spoke of in the y, but sound insulation felt incredibly similar between the two. Definitely excited to see what juniper brings.

Thanks for the feedback and yes, I noticed this issues across few model Y’s. In MYP it was not as apparent.
@Deetroiter5 ай бұрын
It’s interesting you mention this. I test drove the MYLR and MYP back to back a week ago. I drove the MYP first and felt stiff, but it didn’t feel uncomfortable. Turns felt planted and nice. Then, I drove the MYLR…first thing I noticed was some sort of echo or booming. I have no idea what the cause was/is but it was certainly noticeable. That alone would push me towards the MYP just to not have the sonic boom sound
@100miledrive5 ай бұрын
@@Deetroiter yep, you got it right. Another way to call this - is like a sonic boom. In MYP not sure whether they really use more insulation material or it's firmer suspension and different tires that don't make that sound but in base MY and in MYLR this booming issue is quite apparent and looks like something that needs to be fixed.

Does this version have the Front and Rear Gigacastings?
@100miledrive5 ай бұрын
Honestly I wasn't sure about this and checked online. Here is the answer I got: Yes, all 2024 Tesla Model Y vehicles, regardless of location (Fremont or Giga Texas), use gigacastings for the rear underbody. This means the rear structure is likely made of two large cast pieces instead of many smaller welded parts.

i disagree... MY MODEL Y IS AMAZING! But also I understand your POV.
@100miledrive6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. Yes Model Y is a good value for the money, especially with Fed rebate that is still available. My remarks were primarily on the premium feel of Model Y vs Model 3. Model 3 feels on par let's say with BMW 3 series, where is Model Y doesn't feel as polished as BMW X3.
@tapansarkar50155 ай бұрын
Enjoyed your video! Don’t know if you will get this post and will reply before I actually order it!! I had been driving a BMW X3 and I am nervous to switch to a Model Y. Especially because my wife wants to stay with the BMW. I convinced her so far! Cost was one factor on my side. How does a BMWX3 compares to a Tesla long rage RWD Model Y? Am I making a big mistake?
@100miledrive5 ай бұрын
Hi there. Sure, thanks for the feedback. Well Tesla kind of targeted BMW when they were designing Model 3 and Y. I think they succeeded pretty well with Model 3, not sure so much about Model Y in terms of the premium feel and driving dynamics. The biggest thing with this switch would be an EV experience which some people love from day 1 and for many it takes time to adjust and some absolutely hate it. Dynamically BMW X3 to me feels more premium in terms of a drive feel, but from cost perspective you can't beat Model Y. Overall Model Y is a very solid car except for few minor things like sound insulation. My best advise would be to rent it for at least 2-3 days and try to live with the car. Drive around the city, go to your favorite grocery store, drive on your highways, literally try to mimic your daily life - you will have most of your questions answered there. The worst thing you want is to make a switch and 2 days later regret it or if your spouse will not be happy with it. I have been there and that is the reason I started my channel to basically say - rent before you buy. Also be very open minded, like don't have a mindset that you want Tesla to work, just be open to see the goods and the bads, because if you only see the goods, the bads will come few weeks/months later when you have to face them. I think if you want to get into EV experience and test driving Model Y confirms you are ready - then you can make the switch and feel right about it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comment. That is correct. I just happened to make a video on the base/standard range model Y and Long range RWD showed up on Tesla's website. Since my video reviews primarily focus on driving feel/experience then Long Range RWD will be slightly faster which I think will be almost not noticeable. As we found out weight is the same for both cars as folks who purchased Base RWD Model Y can now unlock extra range and it will become a Long Range model. So essentially it's the same car. Can't wait for the Juniper Model Y to see all the improvements.
