In case anybody is wondering: Since the car will be for sale at the end of the series we kept all the original stuff. So if the new owner fancies some rear seats from time to time he can just bolt the original bench back in.

those harness shoulder straps are mounted incorrectly (mounted too low). If you get into an accident they will compress your spine.

This series has been so nostalgic for me; see, I lived in (West) Germany in the early 80s (dad was in the USAF), and I remember see plenty of these and their older siblings on the roads every day. Can't wait to see it in action.

Nice series @Car Throttle and @Mercedes-Benz A reworked engine would have been a nice addition: reworked carbs, new cams, valves and pistons as well as improved cooling. Period correct obviously... I love the W 108, I had the chance to drive an all original 250S before (white with blue interior). Love the craftsmanship, the comfort, simply put one of Mercedes all time greats. I would love to drive the mighty 300 SEL 6.3 (W109)... Greetings...

Since they're selling the car they didn't want to modify it too extensively. That's why in a comment on the video the Mercedes-Benz channel commented they're saving all the interior in case the next guy wants it back. In the video, the also mentioned how the cage was removable if the next owner didn't like that.

what is wrong with regular bolts? I keep seeing these hex-heads/alan wrench style bolts on parts and I don't understand why. those hex heads are a pain in the butt compared to regular bolts.

technically you would want a "harness bar" installed as well, because in the event of a heavy impact, having the harnesses lashed to the floor, it can compress the seat, and thus compressing your spine, causing injury. you want the harness bar to be level with the upper back of the seat so in any impact, the compression of the seat, and spine, would be very minimal.
