Hey everyone. Derrick from GameXplain here. I want to formally apologize to shadowofchaos725. This was my fault that I failed to credit him in our previous analysis. I've since fixed that, but the damage was done. I promise that will NOT happen again. The translations are too good to not credit him. It's not fair to him or anyone who works hard at things like this. i just thought of something about the whole touching pokemonamie type feature. we all know that kamui can turn into a dragon and dragons such as naga are revered as the gods of this world. so... what if this is some type of a ritual, i mean being touched by a holy being would be a great honor in lots of different cultures idk just something i thought of it would make it slightly less creepy if this was the case.

You've come across something there. We know that royalty has access to what is called the Dragon Pulse/Vein, which means that they all have some sort of dragonic power. And since most holy dragons were revered, it could be that they are being blessed by Kamui. Or it really is just facerubsimulator.

Other changes were making Walhart an abusive father to M-Morgan and turning Gregor into the Heavy Weapons Merc (which was utterly fantastic.).

Amy Rose Remember, Japanese VERY rarely uses gender-specific pronouns, ("he" and "she" are so intimate they often mean "boyfriend" and "girlfriend") and has a LOT more gender-neutural pronouns than other languages. This makes translating a nightmare, as Japanese will very often delibarately use gender-neutural pronouns to keep the gender of a character ambiguous. Since using "they" all the time in English sounds weird, this gets very hard for translators.

Amy Rose Yeah, I can confirm. It's not that Lilith IS gender-neutral, it's that Lilith manages to avoid being referred to by any gender-specific pronouns. It has to do with how Japanese is structured versus English. Sorry, but we'll have to wait and see what the official game translators do! :)

Yes, note that in Japanese, most of the time you refer to someone by name when adressing them directly, even if they're standing right in front of you. The Japanese words for "you" are all considered extremely rude if not used among close friends.

Thank you for spending all this time translating this trailer. You earned a subscription good sir. Personally, I like the idea of my castle. It is pretty much an extension of the barracks system of tellius (which have my favorite games). Honestly, the hatred for this system is honestly blown out of proportion. There are several fantastic jrpgs (suikoden ii is a grat example) that have a roamable castle areas with multiple features. As an Etrian Odyssey player, I adore the idea of a home base. It provides a buffer and a constant source of comfort during harder sections of the game. About the face touching feature, yeah its weird. But it could be much worse. I'll just ignore it. Also out the people who are screaming about the hot springs being too anime must have not read up on their history. During the time of the Roman empire, bath houses were a common site and were often considered an important aspect of social life. So it also works with the Nohr path. Honestly, this game is becoming more like FE Gaiden, which is a good thing. I will be starting Nohr first due to its more unique premise. But I am sure IS will provide a worthwhile experience for both sides. Honestly, I think the veterans fans need to take a step back and think more calmly. At this rate, I agrevated by so many of them hating on this game and awakening yet adoring the past games which often had the same exact flaws as 13 and 14. Having played every US released fire emblem, I can honestly say that each game is flawed in its own way. For a niche fandom, it has so much toxicity. None of the other fanbases I am part of (SRW, Armored Core, Etrian Odyssey, Magic) come even close to the vitriol of certain FE veterans. Fire emblem is a rpg that still is relatively niche, we should be more welcoming of newcomers and accept that a series is changing and not just rehashing the same crap that other mediocre franchises are doing. If other franchises survived massive system overhauls, you should have faith that fire emblem will as well. Sorry for this long comment, I just had to get my thoughts out.

I'm glad you're not one of the flamers on /r/fireemblem. They absolutely exploded. "This isn't Fire Emblem...it's just a stupid waifu simulator...too lighthearted..." What's wrong with a bit of difference in gameplay? How many games did we get that barely changed gameplay relative to this? 1 and 3, 6 and 7, 9 and 10, 11 and 12. I want them to keep the game fresh and exciting. I also want them to fuse 6 and 7 into one game a la Genealogy of the Holy War. Have us play the story of Lyn, Eliwood and Hector, and then have their children inherit growths like in Awakening, and continue into Burning Blade. Maybe Roy wouldn't be so terrible.

James Cloud The people that I've seen complaining about it feel that IS took time/resources away from making the core strategy aspects the best that they could be; I think that they had more resources than they did with Awakening, and so they made more things. codefreak8 Not like there really is a need to change the core mechanics in Fire Emblem. FE6, 7 and 8 play pretty much identical to each other (FE8 being slightly different by having a world map) and they are all great games. FE itself does not make too many changes to its core gameplay, Awakening already being a rare case of changing it quite a few. The next few games will probably only tend to FE13's mistakes rather than trying to make up new stuff.

BigKlingy I liked Sumia's character a lot. Her personality and design were kinda all I liked about her though, I didn't use her much. I preferred Cordelia and Cynthia to be my fliers. I didn't use batman or Cherche much either and I love them too. But yea, she's adorable to me. I didn't think people hated her. I know some people hate a pairing she's in but I haven't ever seen hate directed at her character. I suppose I'm lucky in that sense. ^^

All I see is "Sumia is an evil bitchwhore who should DIE AND STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM CHROM because CHROM BELONGS WITH FEMALE AVATAR!!!!!!" (Or, in REALLY extreme cases: "CHROM BELONGS WITH ME!!!") In short, all her hate comes from rabid shippers who want Chrom paired with someone else. (There ARE reasonable Chrom/FeMU fans out there, but the crazy fans are always the most vocal) Being the closest thing he has to a "canon" paring, even though there are no canon pairings in Awakening, will do that. It's called "Die for Our Ship".

They also said they were "unable to translate a part of it because it was too difficult", despite the fact that more difficult translations WERE made. In reality, Rey didn't translate it, so they said they couldn't.

Leo Grant No, as in "Classic FE". Before FE8, there were no other ways to earn EXP other than playing the actual chapters. No skirmishes, no bonus EXP at the base, no nothing. Apparently, this will continue even in "My Castle" battles.

In every FE game before 8, you got through it by playing it smart. 6 and 7 did have Arenas, but you could still actually LOSE your units when trying to grind them (although you could hit B to end the battle after the next succession of turns). So there's a lot more risk, and a lot more choice involved. You should be happy you can even reclass in this game, In the previous FE games with promotion, the only way to make them the best was to max them out to 20, and THEN promote them. Basically, FE1-7 are the epitome of FE's tactical strategy. You need to be careful and such. But don't worry. Phoenix Mode is a thing that exists now, so even if you find it hard, it'll help.

Ah! My bad I read the video description so now I know what gamexplain did. At least they owned it. BTW I am a FE veteran and I love all the new features as it is refreshing. And as shadowofchaos725 said if u don't like it then it's not like it's impeding the rest of the game which is still very much classic FE albeit it having removed weapon break limit. IMO I wish they had kept an option where u could turn weapon break on and off at difficulty selection panel. Awakening is so far the best till IF releases. Awakening had a lot of nostalgia related to all old FE games and had many awesome firsts while maintaining the classic side of the series like lucina posing as marth. A wyvern rider named same as minerva the pegasus rider. Tiki. Ike's descendant. Anna being playable for first time and owaine repeating old characters' lines etc. I guess it was because it was meant to be the last game. Glad It wasn't.

Honestly, I think the Hoshido side will be my favorite of the two. Mostly because you have some downtime to get to know each of your soldiers and make friends with them. They had something like that in the previous games, like Path of Radiance and such, but the more expanded concept hammers it home for me. I'm down for getting both games AND the third path DLC, but the Hoshido campaign will very likely be my favorite with these nice options.

And Aqua the songstress is wearing her white outfit, which she will only have if you join the Hoshido side.

***** The Nohr version is supposedly harder than the Hoshido version. To maintain this difficulty, you cannot grind experience outside the main story (or without serious setback). If you could, you could just safely level up your characters easily (like you can in Fire Emblem Awakening with the EXP DLC), and it would encourage mindless grinding (anyone who did a Lunatic/+ run in Awakening would probably know the pain of this).

Great translation, glad I decided to look for this instead of going with the raw version or a shortened version. That said, I think you could make it better if you do a few minor fixes, like increase the font size, change the font (it's just a little hard to read and keep up with), and keep the narration either on the bottom or the top instead of flip-flopping it whenever there's text on-screen. Overall great though.

Man, thanks for your dedication to these translations, it is honestly really cool of you to work on things like this. Also, nice to see someone sensible about the pointless debate on whether the game is good or bad. The game hasn´t come out, and many of us in this comments section (the vast majority) won´t get to play it until it gets a western release, so arguing over features like "My Castle" is idiotic at the moment, they are not determining factors when it comes to how good the games actually are. Also, like it or not, these features are here to stay, or at least it seems that way. More people like it as opposed to the ones that don´t. Is it a total change of direction? Too early to know. However, it is easy to overlook the fact that not just this game, but all of the gaming industry functions primarily, on a financial level: More people pay for the things they like = more money made for the company (that is probably the whole reasoning behind Phoenix Mode), and the "veterans" and "loyal fans" of the series either don´t get that, or are too stubborn to admit that features like marriage and supports are probably going to become a a larger part of the series as it progresses (they had already appeared in other titles, so it shouldn´t be all that surprising). These fanboys are voluntarily being left behind because they lack perspective and open-mindedness. This resistance to change is also useless, I should add. The developer figured they are going to appeal to more people and sell more units this way, so the fanboys´ say in matters like the "direction the series should take" is null. They also have no right to tell others how to or how not to play a game, that notion is idiotic and in all honesty, tumorous.

Well, that's nice, since we have Arena, Weapon Shop, Training Room and more. Funny... This reminds me of one village in Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones, who is quite similiar to this.
