Changed my mind on splitting into the ditch...for now...decided to process up some of the smaller Oak logs and fill in a stack for this Fall. Making firewood with the Japa is fast and fun, especially with a helper.

You realised what Chris at In The Wood Yard preaches for efficient. Cut and split your wood where you intend to stack it. It saves on handling the wood multiple times.

It's cool to see the contrast of the wood that has been stacked and seasoned outside vs. the newly stacked wood! I don't think the Packers will be calling you for a receiver position the way you handled the firewood coming off the splitter. lol Have a great week.

Stacking right off of the conveyor looks pretty efficient. How much wood do you think you can process in a hour?
@Back40Firewood
@Back40Firewood 2 жыл бұрын
It worked fairly well stacking right off the conveyor, but nice having the pile right where we were stacking too. As far as how much an hour, not sure....more than I could keep up with stacking that's for sure....lol 😀👍🍻

I think near the end your chain was getting dull on the Yapa. I saw dust coming out on the backside, not chips like it should be. How often do you sharpen the Yapa's chain and set the tension? Just curious.
@Back40Firewood
@Back40Firewood 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, chain was dull...and I guess once it gets a little dull it won't cut good at all. This is however the 1st time since having it that I had to replace the chain, and I've never sharpened it either....lol....so ran a good while on that edge. 😀👍🍻

Looked at the price difference in the Japa 315+ with pto versus its onw engine to power it... damn near had a heart attack at the $7500 price difference! With my operation, sometimes I get a lot of lightweight logs that the chainsaw loves to toss around when truing to buck them. Probably 85% of the logs in the load of cherry I got could be sent through the Japa 315+ processor. At what point in production volume do you go with the 3pt hitch and pto powered processor for the small logs while using a chainsaw and splitter for the big stuff? Hopefully can make it to the Frenzy and ask the Metsa people that question.
@Back40Firewood
@Back40Firewood 2 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on how much smaller diameter stuff you can get. If you had a big supply of 8"-10" logs this thing flies through them. The biggest challenge would be on the supply side...getting enough & right size.
@thefirewooddoctor
@thefirewooddoctor 2 жыл бұрын
@@Back40Firewood, most of the load of cherry I got in would fit that little processor and would really like to get the 315+. But first, gotta get a tractor and a dump trailer.

Can you get a motor/ power pack for the japa 315? If you sharpen the chain by hand and it gets off the bar does not follow the chain like a saw because it is fixed.
@Back40Firewood
@Back40Firewood 2 жыл бұрын
I just replace the chain, haven't tried to sharpen by hand while on the bar. They do make a version of the 315 with a stand alone power pack. 😀👍🍻
