Hi, I like the review & your style - not super hyped, calm, giving the facts. A few points from me on things that could be improved going forward: I'm not a native English speaker, sometimes when you say too many figures quickly, it gets lost. Perhaps including a post-processing graphics on the screen (range, price, consumption, ..) whenever you mention them? Secondly, the sound seems to be low; the friggin adverts scream at me whenever they pop up, because I have to bring the volume up. On the car itself: I like the interior. And I'm with you, why the hell do they put those idiotic stickers everywhere? Why on the seats? I don't care if it's recycled or not - or better put I mildly care while spec-ing the car, not after - and I don't need to be reminded of the fact for perpetuity. I'm not paying 79k to push your company's ESR BS, Polestar! And, sadly, the car is too late. I was really excited about it when they unveiled it, but the price is totally out and there's now better alternatives; not to mention Polestar's struggles - will the company survive? Will my warranty stand? I think I'll go for a hybrid this time around and in two years time I'll be back to pick this or the Q6 up for about 40% of it's current price.

I test drove one yesterday, apparently the 10th person to have done so from this particular Polestar space in the UK. Honest option… fairly competent drive and overall a nice car….but they have the pricing level wrong. You can see who they are trying to align their pricing with, but the car sophistication does not match the aspirational pricing. I can see this getting heavily discounted rapidly. It should be priced nearer the Model Y with a USP of being much better built and kitted out compared to the Y. Trying to go toe to toe with Mercedes, Porsche or Audi just isn’t going to work out until the brand has grown a legacy.

I test drove a polestar 3 today love the look and feel of the car but the demo I drove was a terrible advert for the company. The operating system was constantly crashing rendering single pedal drive useless halfway through the drive. The power assisted steering stopped working during the drive and the car was throwing up system failure messages constantly. The air suspension wasn’t working either. The poor guy who came out with me on the test drive was constantly apologising for the issues saying it was a ‘pre production model’ and when the cars were available for sale in September there would be an update which would fix all the teething problems. They are monocoque construction, rather than skateboard like EV only platforms. My guess is that in 10 to 15 years the monocoque will still feel solid while the skateboard will be a bit loose and full of rattles. @benrgrogan6 ай бұрын
@@mho0 Oh I get the theory behind it, I just don't think it works in practice. The Polestars are never really sporty enough fo the differentiation to work, not helped by the fact they still look the same. All the effort spent trying to set up this different brand yet I fully believe they'd be doing considerably better if the Polestars were just launched as Volvo's with Polestar serving as Volvo's AMG.
@mho06 ай бұрын
@@benrgrogan I guess that could be possibility also. But is it so that as 'AMG' for Volvo revenues would be more likely like 100s of millions. As separate brand it can be tens of billions. And if you compare Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90 they are quite a different cars even sharing same basic core. PE version of EX90 would not still be anything like P3 I think. While having 2 different brands you can do quite different cars for different target groups while having same starting point. And for me (kids not at home anymore) P3 would be an option but EX90 for sure not. If I would still have all 3 kids at home -> then EX90... I personally see Polestar like Alfa Romeo. (Very) Sporty normal car without very high price tag like Porsche (or for that matter proper AMG, M or RS). We have currently Volvo V60 Polestar Engineered and it is excellent car. We have also Polestar 2 which is exceptionally good driver's car. So naturally much more risk and especially much more investment from Geely to create a new car brand (and many of them in general fails), but also potential is much bigger. Polestars (especially BST versions) are actually really sporty even at 'AMG' scale especially from chassis tuning point of view (not crazy power or everything tuned to the max, but still...). Time will tell how well Polestar as separate brand will finally fly... hopefully they will still 'help' Volvo to create Polestar Engineered cars. I still think that V60 PE is a superb combination of Volvo's practicality and design and combined with Polestar sporty touch.

Slow heavy inefficient and very expensive. What’s not to love? 😂. Should have bought a Tesla.

Tesla is excellent low quality low budget car for those who like it like that.

We tested Tesla Model 3 and it was utter garbage. Car was new, 500 km on the clock, and it rattled, and rattled. It was freezing weather at -15C and it was terrible. Also, during a 2 hour stint we got two phantom braking events. Polestar 2 on the other hand was brilliant in the Scandinavian winter. Tesla for California, a proper car for Scandinavia.

Thins that didn't happen. Clearly, Teslas work in Scandinavia given they are the number one car sold over the last 5 years!

My 2019 Model 3 performance. 95k miles later and still grinning from ear to ear. Seems to be de rigeur for all motoring journalists to reference musk derangement syndrome. Pathetic.

The general public aren't buying EVs so yes let's have another huge car that's over £75k. Great

What a sour guy who swallows his words. Speak louder. Hard to understatement.

Just what we need? Another overpriced car. Do they really think that people by now don't know that the companies save thousands by NOT putting in Internal Combustions engines and prop shafts etc. The day when they could blame the cost of the batteries has long gone. They are all now blatantly profiteering from the new tech IMHO
