ASICS is doing good things this year, and I’m here for it. I had all but disregarded the brand as a whole until recently. I’ve become a Nimbus 25 fan, and I really love the Novablast 3, not to mention the Metaspeed Sky+. Having all of those would make the Cumulus a bit superfluous for me, but it’s good that they’ve upped their standard trainer game too for those looking for for of a utility running shoe. The cumulus is amazing I tried them at a demo run as our fleet feet doesn’t carry them. For some odd reason. I absolutely loved it just jogging around it felt stable, bouncy and responsive, lightweight and comfortable. Really if ur looking for a old school daily trainer with none of these plates, massive stack height, stiff shoes these are for you.

I purchased the Nimbus but ended up returning it. I love the Cumulus it’s more versatile, weighs less and for me it was more stable.

After this review, I will seriously consider the Cumulus 25. I'm a die hard Nimbus fan, Nimbus 24, my fave so far. But the Cumulus 25 is now a worthy contender.

Same here. I just bought the Nimbus 25 after I had all Nimbus' of the last years. But the 25 is a little to soft for me, I am looking for a firmer alternative. Sounds like the Cumulus could be the one for me.

I have been using cumulus shoes for the last couple yrs. I have been a fan since my foot first touched the flyte foam, wonderful stuff. I am with others you mention, nimbus is too much foam, and too soft. Being a PT, we use foam to test balance and make people work harder. I don't want my balance tested as I run, or to work harder.

Great review. I like but don't love the Nimbus 25. This may be a better option. Keep up the honest reviews. I take your opinion more to heart than most others here on The Tube.

ASICS were my go to shoe years ago then I switched to Altra mainly because of the wide forefoot and zero drop. Lately I’ve become dissatisfied with Altra shoes because of poor durability and relatively high price. I was going to switch back to ASICS but when I went to the shoe store to look at them I was put off by the size, the Cumulus is big and the Nimbus is huge, hard to imagine running in those things. So I bought another pair of Altra Torins. Ran in them for 5 or 6 training runs and a half marathon and wore all the way through the outsole, very disappointing. So still searching for my optimum shoe, may have to give the Cumulus another look. Anyway, great review.

I just got my first run done in the cumulous and have to say I don’t like it. The feet felt like they were heating up in the upper. I am regretting my purchase. I have previously used the Saucony shift and brooks Hyperion Max and they are pure class. I look fwd to wearing them with a smile and I doubt I’ll have a smile when I put the cumulus on next time.

Have you tried the evoride speed? It’s not super response like endorphin speed. But has a nice rocker and works great as a daily trainer.

How would you compare Cumulus 25 vs Novablast 3? Both seem like versatile neutral daily trainers, but what makes each stand out?

I wasn’t a huge fan of the novablast 3 (I’m in the minority there) but I will say that the novablast 3 is lighter, and will have a bit more energy return than the cumulus 25. The cumulus is more shoe, so perhaps will be more durable, but the midsole feel is pretty standard. Softer than previous versions but not a ton of energy return.

@@RunLikeHeller I see, thank you! I just got the nimbus 25, the thin tongue doesn't provide an enough padding so, the laces hurt my mid foot. Therefore, I am considering getting the cumulus or the Triumph 20, since they have padded tongue. but it seems they are both good, for everyday wearing and some daily running. hard to decide between them.

asics fujilite and gt2000's lead me to a long road of bunion bursitis and xrays, and 4 months off. I don't even know why, since the uppers aren't that constricting. I think the foam is just wrong. The brand is a permanent no-go for me, unless they want some podiatry bills.

Shouldn't the nimbus and cumulus 25 feel the same since they are using the same midsole. Except that nimbus has more foam (4mm taller) or are the FF blast+ formulation between the 2 shoes different?
