This year was my first year as well. Went on Tuesday. Play was suspended for the day at 10:55am. Thankfully they have guaranteed us a chance to purchase tickets again for next year's Tuesday practice round. Unbelievable place. Every golfer must go and see this place if you ever have the chance. Absolutely immaculate golf course. It's a special place for sure.

@@mmezameza1891 live in Augusta lol. On a serious note, before 1978 anyone could just sign up to get tickets every year, so pretty much any golf fan that has lived here pre-1980 has them. Also, badge holders get to bring a junior with them for free each day, which is how I was able to go much of my childhood (my neighbors were badge holders). Sorry I didn't really give you useful advice, but the truth is its much easier for locals

Going for the first time this year. I can not wait. I won the lottery for two tickets on Thursday. Taking my Dad. Wish I could find two more for my brother and Mom. So, excited!! I love that it is just about the game. Nothing else. No cell phones, no distractions but the green grass and the professionals doing what they do best.

I went to The Masters for my first time this year. When I got there I played at The Champions Retreat with a PGA Pro. WOW! I was very impressed with the course but playing with Todd Dempsey was incredible. When he hit the ball the ground shook. All in All it was a cool experience.

Great video! This year was my first year and I too was there Monday. You pretty much summed up my entire experience all in one video. I'd like to add if I may how pleasant, professional and friendly the staff and volunteers are at Augusta National. Growing up in the northeast US, I don't always get a "Good Morning" or "Have a great time out there!" from literally every person that day. I would be walking past security guards or the cashiers in the concession areas and they would greet me when I wasn't even in their line to check out or I didn't event notice them because I was admiring all the surroundings that the Masters has to offer. Some of my friends who have been there prior to my trip were genuinely happy for me that I was going. I understand what they mean now. I hope to get back there some day again and hope family or friends who haven't experienced it yet to join me to see their faces when they see it for the first time! it truly exceeds a golf lovers expectations!!

I got to go in ‘14 for the Saturday round. A buddy got me a ticket. Totally blow away by the place. Augusta National is absolutely amazing. I had people tell me how great it was before I went and I thought that there was NO WAY that it would live up to the hype they were feeding me but it surpassed what they said by a long shot. I was fortunate enough to get tickets to the Drive, Chip and Putt this year through the lottery. Got to see several of the pros and past champions close up. I saw Tom Watson walking through the crowd headed to the first tee and no one recognized him. It was like he was just another patron strolling through. I know he’s old and no one really knows who he is anymore but I was star struck. A literal living legend walked right in front of me. Where else does these things happen?!! If you ever get the opportunity to go to Augusta National Golf Club, whatever you do, do not turn it down. You will not regret it and most likely it will be one of the greatest experiences of your life!!!

I'm from Oregon and got a pass for a Wed in 2005 (the year Tiger came from behind to win). After parking our rental on someone's lawn (for $20) about a mile away, we walked in the back entrance by holes #5 & #16. First thing we watched was guys skipping balls across the water onto #16 green. Awesome! Course is very hilly and the greens look impossible to putt. Looking at the grass, you wouldn't want to take a divot because you would feel ashamed that you messed up the course! lol We learned they pack the azalea flowers behind #12 green in ice to stunt them so they blossom during the tournament. They have a water suction system under every green, so when it rains they can continue play. Pimento cheese sandwich and Coke were $1 each. It was a thrill to watch them mow the course at the end of play...they have 5-7 tractor/mowers that mow right next to each other as they come down the fairways (military precision). Upon arrival, I bought $600 worth of souvenirs. They stored the bag (yes, all that expense in one bag) and gave me a ticket. At days end, I picked up my bag and left for the motel 60 miles away. When I arrived and opened my bag, it was full of kid's clothing. I called the course the next morning and a female volunteer from Ohio State University asked me if I had the receipt. I did and faxed her a copy. They pulled all the items for me and shipped them to my home in Portland...told me to keep the bag I had at no expense. First class operation all the way! BTW, even though it was a practice day, it was still great to watch all my heroes playing the game they love! Priceless!

Fortunate enough to have caught 3 Fridays at The Masters. Gives me chills every time when they greet you at the gate with those iconic words "Welcome to The Masters". The whole experience is so well worth it, what an awesome tournament and seeing your favs - amazing. Chairs are placed for the day, no one disturbs them, oh someone might grab your seat but they get up immediately when you arrive back. Just nothing better than this tournament.

In the 32 years that I've lived in the Atlanta suburbs, I have been to The Masters probably twenty times. My first visit was two tickets to a Monday, and I got to take my dad. That was back in 1992 when much of the infrastructure you describe was on in the Club's Strategic Plans. It is a special place. Did you learn that the free parking area was actually a neighborhood where homeowners were bought out? Finally, did you get to see the new VIP area to the right of the 5th green behind the trees.

I say The Masters is the Chick Fil A of golf tournaments. Everything has been thought out and everyone knows what they are doing. Super efficient! The nicest bathrooms attendant was off the 17th hole. She greeted everyone that entered the bathroom (full permanent bathrooms) and told them what stalls were open.

I've been 4 times in the past 15 years and I'm only 35 years old. It never gets old. Such immaculate greens and fairways and rough. The fairways are better than a lot of greens I've been on. And yes the cart paths are like roads back in the distance. And there's no need to worry about ruining to catch tiger on the 16th because running gets you kicked out. Augusta is literally made for the masters and nothing more it seems like. Im going again in 2024. Can't wait. I want on this volunteer list. Soon maybe.

My first visit to Augusta was in 1987. My second hasn’t occurred yet. I paid $20 to park in somebody’s front yard which is probably inside the fence now. My first glimpse of the course was along the first hole and Arnold Palmer and Art Wall walked right in front of me so I decided to follow them. I later saw Arnold signing autographs near the clubhouse and one of my biggest regrets in life is that I didn’t get in that short line to shake his hand. I was expecting ball park prices for food and was shocked to pay $1.25 for an egg salad sandwich. The merchandise was being sold out of a tent.

I went in 2019. I'll add a little about the souvenir shop. At least 20 plus cashiers to get you out and onto the course. Also next door to the souvenir shop is a post office. So you buy your stuff and instead of carrying it around all day. You go the post office and mail it to your home. Brilliant! Also no multi breeds of grass. One grass on the fairway. That's it. 7000 yards of grass and only one strain. Do you know how hard that is? If you can go! GO

It is amazing how much property is there...between the #1 fairway and #6 would fit 5 or 6 football fields...crazy how much the elevation change is...the best way to describe it is to put a ball 20 feet in front of your house...then try to chip a ball on top of your house and stop it...

I was there Saturday for the final round of the Women's Am. Got lucky and went to the merchandise shop first thing when I got there which was around noon. Most people were eating so there were only about a hundred people in line outside the building waiting to get in. Then of course there were another hundred people inside, waiting to get into where you actually shop but the line moves really fast and check out was a breeze. Only place I had to wait to get something was at the Tshirt counter, go figure. They also had little islands throughout the place with tshirts, shirts and hats on them.. just to grab one more thing on the way out. I only spent 215 bucks. Was my fourth time there. And yes it is a special place. The grass that is supposed to be rough always amazes me. It is better than most of our greens. I would love fairways like that to hit off of. I live about 2 hours north of there but that course is just primo. So is the organization. Everyone who works there is so nice. Even the bomb dogs on the way in ;-)

Nice take for first visit. I live here. Born here. Well into my 20’s, we used to stand in proximity of course gates around lunch time on Mon-Wed. Practice round days. Those tickets are day passes only and are not souvenirs. By lunchtime, folks who got there when gates opened that morning often left the course to make a tee time at a local course. It never took more than 5-10 minutes of asking if we could have their badge before someone said … sure. One year, I was impatient and offered someone $5 or $10 but just that once. Haven’t tried it in years but don’t see a reason it couldn’t be done now.

We went on Friday in 2012. The thing that surprised me, was the worst place to watch. It being by 11 green/12 tee at Amen Corner. You are so far away from actually seeing the approach/tee shots landing, and you can't see 13 tee at all. The best place to watch was left of the pond by 16 green. You can see the tee shots landing on 16, and everyone putting out on 15. The people are so nice, and the food is awesome, especially at those prices.

I had the opportunity to go twice through work (2017 (Sergio) & 2019 (Tiger)) to which each tournament day I was able to be on the grounds for three hours per day. It is literally like Disney Land. Unimaginable experience and hard to absorb your surroundings - let alone watch the event happening in between. The hills and especially the greens (slopes) were unexpected. Some greens were 5’-7’ difference from front to back. The food was amazing and cheap. I will say, I didn’t have to pay for hotel or entry fees due to my employer, but…each night was $900 for hotel (5 nights per trip), entry fees up to 2500 per day. Luckily, I only paid for merch (I went crazy each trip). Let’s not forget that there is NO running or cameras allowed (or phones - lockers at each entrance). When gates opened, I literally saw a dude get pulled aside by a cop and worker for “kinda running” as he was told to wait 5min - he was racing to put his chair down on the 16th when gates opened.

I was lucky to go to a Wednesday practice round almost 20 years ago. I had the same impressions as you - it is DisneyWorld for golfers. Spectacular, everything is clean and pristine. The pimento cheese sandwiches, the gift shop, etc. are all perfect. Unlike you, I was not prepared for how 3-dimensional the course was. No. 10 is so much more amazing than what you see on TV. The trees and plants all around are fantastic too. The property was a plant nursery before the course was built, and there are some trees I had never seen before that were gorgeous. They even ice down the azaleas to make sure they are all in full bloom at the same time. It is a wonder!

They also have water lines running under them that they pump hot water thru to make them bloom on time. Last time I was there before last Saturday was 2006. That merchandise shop is newer. I asked one of the guards about it. Not sure what year it was but he said they tore the old one down and built this new one in one year. The whole building is three stories. Two used for the merchandise and one for the patrons to shop in. The store itself is probably at least 3 times as large as 2006. It was like a playground to go shopping in. I did not walk down Ten and back up again this time. Sat on the edge 18 and watched the ladies approach the green.

My first Augusta National experience this year as well. It's the most well run golf tournament I've ever attended, by far. Just an incredible place.

I was lucky enough to go in 2007 for Saturday/Sunday. Bucket list experience and hope to go back one day. However I have to say and this does not take anything away from the course but, after the splendour of seeing the course for the first time had sunk in, as a golfer I thought.. wow this course is wide open. I guess watching the master on tv left me thinking each hole was more secluded and tree lined.

I got to volunteer at the 2016 Ryder Cup. Transportation. Players I had were Fitzpatrick and Stenson. So many porta potties. So many. Tents. So many tents. Had to pay, I think it was just north of $200. Never have been to Augusta. My brother has been twice. First time a practice round or two. The second time was a Thursday, I think. What is down there on 10 where Bubba was? It looks like a lot of area down there.

I loved every second of this video. You’re super excited about it, and so you should be. I live in the UK and I know I’ll never get there, but seeing your enthusiasm is just brilliant. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. Super cool. Lucky you! Enjoy your visit later in the week. Something tells me that you will!!

Glad you got to go, man. I was lucky enough to get a ticket in the lottery for the Tuesday practice round of the Masters in 2018. It was honestly surreal and such a cool experience. I knew it was hilly, but it was WAY hillier than I expected. The walk was brutal and I'm in pretty good shape. Just another test of Augusta. The course and the tournament demand so much from the golfers who compete in it, physically and mentally. Especially mentally. I really, really hope I get to go back one day. Hopefully the Sunday of the Masters. Hey, one can always dream right?

Never been, but I’m here working in Columbia Sc and my hotel is packed because of the masters. That must be one hell of an event if it got people staying in hotels almost an Hour and a half away. I’m definitely trying to go in 2024.

Hey MrShort Game Golf, I think your shutter speed may be too low on your camera. These videos always seem to have some blurred frames which is usually caused by a low shutter speed.

I was at the final round the year Sandy Lyle won. Course condition was absolutely impeccable. Crowd behavior, service, prices, etc. all first class. A one of a kind experience.

True, but it was also an old warmup area. Not quite a driving range… The 19th hole was at the top of the hill and the green is where the practice green is now. The warmup area was down the hill between 9 and 18

My tickets were for Sunday on April 2020 I had everything booked airfare rental car hotels from hawaii. It usually falls on my birthday. A family member of mine has annual tickets. Unfortunately a worldwide pandemic stormed the nation. It has been a lifelong dream to attend. Lots of family life changing events in last 2 years gave me more perspective as it is a nice golf tournament

In 2018 was my first trip there. Favorite hole has to be number 10. Just a gorgeous cool golf hole. Love the are around 7 green where you can go to 3 tee and 8 tee in about a 50 yard range.

Never been, but really glad you got the opportunity to go. I can tell by your energy it was a great experience. I saw online somewhere that the average spend at the shops is 1700+ per person. I saw a recent social media post touting the amount of food they got for $20. Curious, are the hats and shirt prices super expensive, or comparable to other high profile courses that sell gear??
@stephensmith3071
@stephensmith3071 2 жыл бұрын
Slightly cheaper, but still comparable. T-shirts and hats are going to run you 20-30, golf shirts are 70-80. Pullovers are 100-150.
