I saw Tim do a basement show when he was touring for his first solo album. I'll never forget talking to him outside about the awesome van he had and asking him if he had any tips on how to find a good touring van that wasn't completely unaffordable. When he started answering me he said "well I have a band that I had this van for..." sort of blew my mind that he didn't just assume every person there knew avail. He was definitely a cool guy.

Damn I don’t think I’ve had my brain come to a screeching halt like it did when I saw the subject of this drop. Avail was my cathartic musical moment back in the early ‘90s. Just starting to find myself as being an adult, they were the basis of the framework for my rudder through life. As the carbon-based, ape-derived bass guitar holder that I was, Gwomper’s style really grabbed me. He was like an accessible and attainable version of Matt Freeman to me.

Hahaha. Yep, Beau Beau. I bought my first house back in the mid 90’s. Before I had even started moving in, I was gifted a rescued chocolate Lab named Beau. He didn’t mind being slightly renamed as Beau Beau.

I saw them on that tour in Providence. Chris from Propaghandi was sick so they couldn't play and offered refunds, or you could stay for J Church and Avail. We stayed. And AVAIL killed, and I mean KILLED for q plus hours. Still smile when I remember that show!

Avail was one of the first punk bands I saw from outside my area back in HS and drove my desire to play punk music. One of, if not their first US tour for Satiate either pre-Lookout or shortly after signing. Park pavilion building in Danville, IL jam packed in like '92. Experience I'll never forget!

If you like the vocals and want to hear a more traditional hardcore sound I recommend sick of it all. Specifically something from the album built to last. Hardcore is really just a faster, harder, possibly angrier punk. Melodic hardcore typically takes those elements and adds more melody. Some band/album recommendations would be Dag nasty -can I say 7 seconds - walk together, rock together Lifetime - hello bastards Kid dynamite- s/t Verbal assault - trial Vision - in the blink of an eye Remission - enemy of silence Ignite -call on my brothers Uniform choice - screaming for change

Privileged to have seen them in Minneapolis in '95, '96, '97-ish. Studio of the Stars. Hot summer day. Tim was a monster. He gave it everything, but the band had to cut their set short due to the extreme heat. I am thankful for those days
