Remember going out in the 70s, this would come on the juke box and quite often the lyrics would come true

Elton's 70's songs were Johnny Blaze Fire! 🙂 🔥

The opening song on that album "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" is an 11-minute classic that has no lyrics for the first five minutes--yet is still an incredible song.

Crocodile Rock is a good earlier 70s hit by Elton John, check it out if you haven't already, great reaction as always.

Elton was arguably THE biggest rock star during the first half of the 70s--at least from his boatload of hits.

Not arguably, simply was the biggest commanding 3-4% of all worldwide record sales.

A mirror to every Friday and Saturday in my youth and football matches. In my case, trying to avoid the endless punch ups between drunk youths. Many of us who were there have a love hate relationship with this time.

Many consider this album to be his all-time greatest. I would also suggest another song from that album, Elton's Grand Epic Song "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" but I would pick the LIVE version from the "Live - One NIght Only - Madison Square Garden 2000" performance. The greatest of all live versions of this in my humble opinion. He Rocks Out a lot in this epic song. Opened almost every single one of his shows with this, although it definitely sounds like a Grand Finale.

Everyone has their own tastes, but I would strongly suggest you check out "Funeral for A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding", the studio track. Also from his 1973 album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", just me speaking for myself only but, to date, the greatest recorded track I have ever heard.

Oh, so you think THIS is a fast tempo song for Elton? Check out "Your Sister Can't Twist But She Can Rock and Roll" if you really want to experience intense adrenaline in an Elton John song. From the same album, Elton's 1973 masterpiece "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road".

Billy Joel hasn’t done anything other than perform in the States for the last 30+ years. In fact the last time he performed outside the States was with Elton. He’s a great pianist but he’s admitted that he ran out of things to say all those years ago. Not in the same calibre.
